Chapter 12: A New Beginning
Part III of III
The Invasion of Naboo Arc
Naruto sat on a lone seat within the palace. His blue eyes were shaded over with the blond locks flittering down. His cheeks were bandaged but the whisker marks could still be seen, peering through the thin cover of linen bandages. He could sense it; the fear, stirring within him. He could feel the anger growing within him. Naruto didn't want those things and he didn't need those feelings. He felt disgusted with himself. He'd lost his brother. He'd lost a friend that he'd come to see as his Master. But to lose his mother, made him cross a line that he didn't know he was already at.
He was teetering with the deep end of sanity. And he knew it. He couldn't stand the feelings. He especially couldn't stand the constant whispers of the midichlorians. He could hear them whispering, over and over. Their words were incoherent, and their conversation made no sense. They were coming from all over the place and there might not be anything to stop them from making Naruto put a bolt in his head.
Naruto was frozen. He didn't dare to move from his seat within the Palace. His eyes were locked with his bare hands; the same hands he used to crush a man's skull. He scoffed in disgust, the empty slate of emotion never leaving his face. He had a deep feeling in his gut that the Jedi Order wouldn't accept him after his fiasco and how he defeated Darth Maul. The fear was back within him. But that fear and worry quickly came to become anger and jealousy. He became filled with a powerful rage, bringing the gashes on his face to extend and look like whiskers.
His breath was hard and labored, he was hyperventilating. He clasped his knuckles with a near bone-breaking embrace. He needed to calm down. Thoughts like those were definitely going to make him lose any chance of making it to the Jedi Order to join his last remaining brother. He needed to be calm and he needed to have an open mind. He shut his eyes, taking a deep breath. The sights and smells of Naboo were just overwhelming at times.
There was a festival going on outside to commemorate the everlasting peace between the Naboo and the Gungans. Their music was too loud and their screams and cheers were a bit much to Naruto. He understood that it was a celebration, but that wasn't his cup of tea. Naruto's leg began to twitch. He was so full of anger and so full of hate that he didn't dare to make a move to even greet the people he fought for. He didn't even go to Qui-Gon's funeral. He didn't even go and see Padmé.
He frowned at the thought of the girl. She was too good for him. She was too perfect for him. He was going to be a Jedi anyway. He couldn't do anything more than what he'd already done. Besides, thanks to the deal he made with the Kyuubi, he knew that it wouldn't bother him; the fox will rid Naruto of any memories of things that bind him to the mortal plane of the galaxy. The Kyuubi of course, told Naruto that they probably won't disappear but most likely be buried deep; Naruto didn't care though as he just wanted them to go away.
The pain with each memory was only going to hurt him in the future. If his brother dies or gets hurt or anything wrong happens to him, Naruto knew that he was going to have to use the Kyuubi to hide all of the emotions that come with memories of his brother. Things like that were the reasons that Naruto didn't know if the Jedi Order was going to take him. It was humane things like emotions and love that nearly drove Naruto mad.
It was counter-productive in his opinion. Love, but you can't love. Feel compassion, but no passion. Naruto took a deep breath. These thoughts were only going to destroy him if he let them continue. But he couldn't help himself. Suddenly, the celebrations exploded to volumes he'd never known. He turned, shooting from his stupor and watched as Naboo fighters zoomed overhead in their standard formations. He could see the massive mounts that the Gungans employed.
He felt a small smile shot up at the Gungans and the various Jedi that helped in the battle. His eyes trailed over towards the head of the procession with Boss Nass riding on the most elaborate seat the blond had ever laid eyes upon. Confetti fell down with the soft winds of Naboo, showering everyone and everything in their colors. Naruto trailed his eyes past them and frowned at his shadow clone. The damned clone was trying too hard to enjoy what was going on.
Obi-wan stood next to the clone with Anakin standing next to Obi-wan. Obi-wan looked like a master now and Anakin was officially Obi-wan's Padawan. Naruto ran a hand through his blond hair and took a deep breath. He didn't know what was to happen with him. As far as he'd known, he was there to fight alongside Qui-Gon and act as bait to draw the Sith Lord out. He had no idea what was to become of him.
But once his eyes trailed to the beautiful Queen in white, Naruto's heart raced. She was gorgeous. She stood just a few inches shorter than his clone and behind her head was a headdress almost as elaborate as Boss Nass' saddle. She looked towards the clone and flashed him a smile; a genuine smile. It was then, that Naruto frowned and shot his hand to his lightsaber.
"That's not Padmé…" Naruto glared.
"I know."
Naruto shot around and drew his lightsaber ready to strike at the new voice. But then, he saw her. She wore simple noblewoman's clothes. Padmé looked at the blond with a bit of fear in her chocolate brown orbs. Her arms were shaking and her eyes were filled with worry. She knew that Naruto wouldn't dare show his real face. She knew that Naruto would definitely not want to see her, but she wanted to see him. She needed to see him.
Most importantly, she wanted to know what was on his mind. She wanted to know what she could do to make their relationship permanent. She wanted to know how to keep him with her, no matter what. She was scared and terrified, but she felt safer with Naruto. Padmé watched as the lightsaber fled back into the hilt, leaving Naruto to look down; his bangs shading his eyes from view. Padmé reached forward and rested her hand on his shoulder, but the boy shoved her soft, tiny hand away.
"Padmé…" Naruto took a deep breath. "We need to talk."
Padmé's heart was racing and her mind was pounding with anticipation. She didn't know what was about to happen. The blond motioned for the girl over and she took a seat next to him, but the boy simply slid away from her and tried to keep his distance. She was clearly hurt, but she had no idea how he was feeling. Her hands were suddenly clasped by his and held tightly within his grasp. She could tell that he didn't want to let her go. Hell, she felt the exact same way.
"Padmé. There is something that you need to know about me." Naruto took a deep breath. "My real name is Uzumaki-Namikaze Naruto. I was born to Uzumaki Kushina and Namikaze Minato. My father is a part of an influential clan on Brentaal IV. My mother is a Hapans, born from another influential clan on Hapes."
Padmé stayed silent, having a feeling that this wasn't all.
"I was born on a planet named Earth. At least that's the name we've all given it." Naruto said. "It's a planet, quite primitive, compared to what everyone else already has. Unlike most planets and systems in the galaxy, Earth only has one race; Humans; and they love to slaughter each other for control of land, resources and people."
Padmé gasped in surprise. This is what his people are like.
"My culture, my sub-human sect, is called a Shinobi." Naruto sighed. "We are apparently trained from adolescence to adulthood to kill without remorse. We are trained to murder and assassinate. We're trained to fight wars at the young age of twelve and onward. And some of us are even more unlucky than that."
Padmé watched him. His face scrunched up into a spiteful smirk.
"I am something called a Jinchuriki." Naruto stated. "The power of the human sacrifice in my language."
"Wait?!" Padmé shot up in surprise. "S-Sacrifice?!"
"Padmé." Naruto channeled his powers.
"I hold a demon within me."
Padmé's eyes were wide with fear. But she could bring herself to run from him. She could bring herself to turn and run. Naruto's eyes shot open to reveal the same blood red irides but with the slitted pupil. He released her from his grip as red chakra began to flow from his belly and spread to cover his body, forming what seemed to be a bubbly tail, swishing behind him. The carvings in his face extended though and began to darken into real whiskers. His hair ruffled and turned wilder, some even elongated.
"Padmé…we can't continue what we've had…Because I know that it'll destroy all that we have, had or can possibly have." Naruto said with a quiet tone. "I'm sorry, but I have to go."
"Wait, Naruto!" Padmé grabbed his shoulder. "If you think that a demon within you will stop me from loving you, think again!"
"Padmé!" Naruto said with a growl. "Don't say such things!"
"You think I care?" Padmé narrowed her eyes at him. "I love you, Naruto. I said it and I meant it. You're not getting rid of me easily, Uzumaki."
"My Queen!" Captain Panaka's voice echoed through the hall. "The Gungans are requesting your presence. Hello, Naruto."
"Hello, Captain." Naruto gave him a quick smile before turning and heading towards the first chair he can find.
Captain Panaka led the wayward queen towards the door, but Padmé froze and shot towards Naruto one last time. She wrapped her arm around his shoulders and clasped her fingers together behind his neck. She gave him one last stare, looking into the deep sapphire eyes that he had, crashing her lips against his. She hoped that it wouldn't be the last time, but she had a feeling that it might be. So, she pressed harder, pushing her tongue against his lips, ready to make this kiss a bit hotter.
Soon enough, he gave her entrance, against his will. Their tongues battled for dominance as Padmé held the angry boy. Naruto tried to fight back, but it was just too much. Padmé continued to kiss him, and she soon enough couldn't stop herself. Naruto struggled against her charms and suddenly pulled away while pushing Padmé away from him. Padmé was wide-eyed as was Naruto.
She backed away from the boy, her head still reeling. Naruto was no different. The look of hurt in her eyes was too much for him to look at. He looked around, anywhere but looking into those pained chocolate brown eyes. She walked away from him with a tear flowing down her cheek. It didn't take long and by the end, Naruto was alone once more.
"Naruto." Mace Windu said. "Welcome back to Coruscant."
"It feels great to be back." Naruto smiled.
All around him, the masters of the council had gathered. Obi-wan and Anakin stood behind him with lightsabers at their sides. Anakin smiled at his little brother expecting this to be an indoctrination ceremony. Obi-wan couldn't help but assume the same. But he was curious as to why Itachi, Kisame, Deidara and Sasori were in the Jedi Council Chambers as well.
"Do you know why you're here, Naruto?" Mace Windu asked.
"Well…I'd assume that it's to be accepted into the Jedi Order." Naruto said.
"What makes you assume that?" Mace asked in a genuine tone.
"My force powers are on par, if not weaker than Anakin's." Naruto replied. "Also, a war is between the Jedi and the Sith is being fought, even though their leader was defeated."
"You are right, Naruto." Mace smiled. "But we will not be accepting you into the Jedi Order."
What.
Naruto's face dropped. His heart dropped into the pit of his stomach. Anakin was visibly distressed and Obi-wan felt his jaw fall loose. Many of the uninformed Jedi Masters of the Council were in uproar over the decision. Yoda and Mace Windu stayed silent though and let the people state their opinions, but really waited for what Naruto would do.
The blond was clearly trying to rein in his emotions and his inner power. He was trying his best to calm down. Mace Windu knew that it was a bit cruel to test the boy this way, but it had to be done. They had to see how much the boy had his powers under control. Not only that, they needed the Red Clouds on their side.
"Why?" Naruto suddenly asked, after what seemed an eternity of silence.
"Because…" Mace Windu took a deep breath. "Your skills with a lightsaber and your skills in combat are too violent for the Jedi Order."
"I can change my ways!" Naruto pleaded. "I can-"
"That is why we are making a new sect for the Jedi Order." Mace Windu nodded his head. "There hasn't been another sect for thousands of years, Naruto, but with the new arrival of our friends from your planet…we need one."
"Naruto." Mace smiled as the blond started to realize what was happening. "The Jedi Order will be merging with the Red Clouds. The Red Clouds will serve as front-line; battle specializing force-sensitive's along with those who can use erm…ch-chakra."
"That means…" Naruto wanted Mace to say it.
"After a great talk with Itachi, the leader of the Red Clouds, we've decided to make it official." Mace Windu stood from his seat and headed to Naruto with a smile. "After a few years of training, combat experience and chakra training, you will be the Leader of the Red Clouds with Itachi under you and all of the Red Cloud resources at your disposal. All you have to do is accept."
"Will my brother be able to join?" Naruto asked.
"If he shows prowess in combat, then yes, he shall."
"Then I accept!"
