Cornelius, you can't send your under-secretary to Hogwarts, ministry staff aren't allowed to teach at Hogwarts, it's why it's not possible for me to lend aurors or Hit-wizards to Hogwarts to teach DADA.

"What do you suggest then, Amelia? Dumbledore's going for my job and I need to know what he's up to."

"Andromeda Black-Tonks. She's just come back to the UK after a tour of the American magical schools, and she's spent the last twenty years inspecting schools for the ICW, so she has plenty of experience, and she can stand up to Dumbledore, after all, she broke He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's arm when he attacked, and she's only gotten better since then."

Sirius,

The new DADA teacher introduced herself as Andromeda Black-Tonks. Do you know her? She seems scary.

Harry

Harry,

Andromeda left the country before I graduated Hogwarts. She was attacked personally by the dark lord shortly after he implemented the Taboo, and she drove him off, reportedly breaking his arm. She's been working for the ICW as a school inspector, and she married a muggleborn wizard. She's not a ministry toady, and she definitely doesn't support Voldemort, but will in general work for what she believes is right. Before she left the country she had an argument with Dumbledore who accused her of going dark because she used lethal force against the dark lord and his followers.

Sirius

Sirius,

Professor Black was demonstrating a diagnostic spell for dark curses today, and after she cast it on me, she dragged me to Madam Pomfrey, and threatened to crucio her into insanity under Section 5, paragraph 5-C of the standard British Healer's code, but it turns out that someone had been routinely obliviating her. Professor Black was able to reverse a number of the obliviations, and then Madam Pomfrey identified the culprit as Snape. The headmaster tried to stop her calling the aurors, but she called him a blithering, incompetent, meddlesome old fool and disarmed him and snapped his wand. Madam Bones came and took Snape and the headmaster away. Fortunately, (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view), a healer from St Mungo's was able to reattach the headmaster's arm.

What's the taboo you mentioned? I have never heard of it, and Hermione hasn't either.

Harry

Harry,

The Taboo was set up by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named to detect and locate anyone who dared to utter his name. Once detected and located, a team of death eaters, or even You-Know-Who himself would apparate to that location and attack the people there. So saying his name will be taken as a sign that you believe yourself to be a match for You-Know-Who himself. Andromeda was caught by it before she left the country, but it backfired on You-Know-Who because Andromeda broke his arm and killed the two death eaters he had with him.
