AN: Hello everyone, I'm sorry for the cliffhanger as well as he delayed update. I have been busy, and I've been trying to work on it. However I've been having difficulty. So, I went back and read some of my previous work on the story thanks to a review I just got months after 3 Thank you so much. And I think I'm motivated enough now to write it. We'll see, well if this works out I'll leave this in. I like people to see my thought process. Here's a recap just in case we all forgot the cliffhanger! I know I sure forgot the intensity of it.

Recap:

Zuko breathed in deep, staring at Ursa as if if he looked away she would be gone in the snap of a finger. "I can assure you the fire lord wants you back home" his voice was barely a whisper.

"How would you know such a thing, you're merely a guard" she had grown bitter in her years of confinement. If he had told her he was her son, things may have been different. The staff's abuse of the people in the prison had made them unhopeful for a happy ending.

Zuko gulped and stopped walking; she stopped with him "I am the fire lord."

"Don't lie to me; I would know Ozais voice any day" she looked past him blankly, no warm smile on her face like it used to. She could have lit up a room with her smile back in the days when he was a child.

Zuko nodded his head although she couldn't see him, trying to keep his composure "Ozai no longer has any control of our nation. I am the fire lord now."

"Why should I believe you? I can't even know who you are" she hissed and the others flinched. They couldn't imagine how hard it would be on Zuko to see his mother like that.

He took in a deep breath and put his hands on her shoulders, pulling her slightly closer "I'm your son… I'm Zuko."

The room was silent; the sort of uncomfortable silence that normally preceded something bad happening or something crude being said. The sort of silence that normally meant Sokka would begin to make a joke that no one would laugh at. Sokka, however, made no joke. The silence didn't end with somebody speaking.

The silence was ceased by horrible, broken sobs as Ursa reached to Zuko, taking his face between her hands. There was laughter between the heart wrenching sounds of her gasping for air through the tears "it's really you, isn't it?" She asked, her face warming into a smile still nothing like when he was a child.

Feeling the tension in the room, the others stepped out, leaving mother and son alone to heir reunion. "Zuko" she whispered.

The young fire lord took a step closer and hugged her "it's me mother. I'm here now."

"How did you find me?" She asked quietly, wrapping her arms tightly around him with no intention of letting go. She couldn't see him, couldn't see who he had become, but it was comfort enough to have him there.

He took in a deep, shaky breath "it took a while, and I lost my way a few times. Many times, but when you search for something enough, you run out of places to look. Eventually you find it, and I found you. You're coming home."

He held her arm, walking out of the room, wishing she could see her freedom. "Where is your father?" She asked, her voice was barely a whisper as if the question itself were a horrible thing to say.

"He's in prison. The Avatar helped to assure that he could never hurt anyone again." Zuko said, glancing down the hall to where the others were standing. "Did he blind you?"

She nodded her head, not wanting to respond with words. He squeezed her arm lightly, comfortingly, letting her know he was there. He knew what she was feeling, like it was all a dream, a cruel dream he would wake up from and forget in a minute. Because when he woke up, she wouldn't be there to tell him it was alright, to tell him he would find her again. How could she is she weren't there? He knew because he was feeling the same way. He knew the pain of her loss. "And what of Azula?" She wondered.

"Azula… She's been locked up for the same amount of time. In a different place, she's been improving." He told her.

"Improving from what?"

"She… She is physically alright. However, living with Ozai took its toll on her mental health." He was quiet as they walked towards the others. "Mother, he people that came with me are the Avatar, and Katara and Sokka of the southern water tribe."

"The Avatar?" She wondered out loud, hearing people shifting and feeling someone's hand on her own, lightly shaking it. "It's an honour to meet you."

"As it is to meet you Ursa" he replied, letting go of her hand.

Zuko turned his attention to Katara "when we get back, I have a favour to ask. Do you think it can be done?" He didn't need to tell her what it was; Katara knew simply from his gesture towards his mother's eyes. She was a master healer, if anyone would be able to heal his mother's vision, it would be her.

She smiled only briefly before moving closer and looking into the eyes of the dark haired woman. She stepped away to not startle Ursa from being so close "I'm not sure Zuko."

"Will you try?"

"Of course I will. I just don't want you to get your hopes too high, because I don't know if I will work." She put her hand on his shoulder "when we get back, I'll try it."

"Try what?" Ursa asked, tightening her hand around Zukos arm nervously.

"Katara is a healer" he told her "she's going to try and heal your eyes, to get your sight back."

"You would do that?" Ursa asked, reaching her hand out for Katara to grab. She reached forward and wrapped her hands around Ursas.

"I would, and I hope it works. I can't promise anything though."

"I don't need a promise Katara" she whispered, squeezing he younger girls hands and smiling "trying is enough, I trust that you'll do your best."

The group, once above ground, ushered everyone else in the direction they were heading. "Appa can only take some of the group, but we will return with more ways to bring you home." Aang stood in front of the group "anyone who needs urgent medical attention will come with me, Sokka, will you wait with the others until we return?"

He nodded sternly, looking to everyone in the group "we'll take shelter in one of the buildings of the town until he returns. We'll find food and water, I'm sure the guards have some laying around here somewhere." He walked to Aang and Katara quickly, looking to Zuko and Ursa for a moment before looking back "hurry back here, these people need to find their homes too."

"I'll be back as soon as I can" he responded, grasping Sokkas hand in a shake for a moment before ushering everyone onto Appas back. Zuko lead Ursa up carefully, climbing up on Appas tail that was poised to make it easy for the injured to get to his back. "We'll get everyone home fast."

Sokka ran back to those who were hiding and Aang nodded, climbing on to Appas head "alright buddy, we'll head for republic city, it's the best place for everyone right now. And closer than the fire nation capitol." Appa wasted no time in lifting off, sensing the urgency.

Ursa seemed nervous at the feeling of the air, knowing there was nothing but a flying bison between her and a fall. Appa was trust worthy though; he would never let anyone fall. Zuko was trying to reassure her that I was alright, but she was far too scared for it. She had faced a situation that no one should have had to face, and been found after so long.

She would be alright, in time.

Alright. I'm going to stop it here for now… YAY AN UPDATE. That wasn't the best update, but hey, at least it's something! I'll try and do better next time, hopefully I will be easier to get out. I can't promise updates as often as I used to, but I'll try and keep up with it
