So here is my yearly update. I hate that I only upload once a year, but my muse is more focused on coupons right now. I will keep trucking on until I do finish all of my stories no matter how long it takes. Leave me some love when your done, it makes my day:)
Chapter 12
I spent the next 45 minutes explaining to Barry about fairies and what will happen if he lets the fairy Lloyd take him away.
We were just finishing our meal as I finished my tale and it seemed like Barry didn't believe me. I didn't know how to prove it to him without making Lloyd appear. Oh yes, that is perfect. If I could get Lloyd to appear I could prove to Barry that we really were fairies as well as getting a walking, talking fountain of day-walking blood for Godric and anyone else on our side who needed it.
I was quick to pay the bill, then I slipped a few slices of lemon and my steak knife into my purse. I really hoped that this plan I had quickly come up with would actually work. "Come on Barry, I have a way to prove that what I told you is true." He followed me without question and I prayed very hard that I wouldn't come to regret what I was about to do.
I led Barry down to the underground parking garage. I reached out with my mind and found no thoughts or voids nearby. I sent up one final prayer before I turned to face Barry. "Sookie, what are we doing down here?"
"I'm so sorry Barry." I pulled the steak knife from my purse and lunged at him.
He stumbled back a few steps with fear and confusion on his face. "Sookie, what the fuck are you doing?"
"Getting a fairy to appear." I lunged at Barry again, but before I could get too close, I was hit with a low voltage warning shot of light. I was expecting it, but it still hurt like a bitch.
"Stay back Barry. I'm here to protect you."
"You are the one he needs protecting from." I grabbed the lemon from my purse and was quick to press it to his exposed chest. It had a similar effect as a vampire being silvered. His skin started to smoke and he slowly dropped to his knees the weaker he got.
I looked over at Barry and saw the panic on his face. "Barry, go. Go far away from here and stay close to vampires. Their presence with protect you. GO!" I watched him turn and run until I couldn't see or hear him before I called out to Eric. I hoped that he would be able to control himself around Lloyd because there was no way that I could get him back up to the room on my own.
Within seconds Eric was beside me with his fangs down ready to attack, but he still seemed to be in control of himself. I didn't have time to think about that now. "Help me get him back up to the room."
"Sookie, who is this?"
"This is Lloyd the fairy. It's hard to explain right now, but I promise that I will once we get him upstairs."
"You are definitely going to keep me on my toes." He put his fangs away and was quick to restrain Lloyd's hands behind his back, then he pulled me close and caressed my face with his free hand. "Promise me that you won't do something like this again."
"I can't do that. We are going to war. Anything to happen to either of us and we both need to do what is necessary."
"I don't like feelings."
"Were you scared?"
"I was concerned. I don't want to know what my existence would be like without you now that I have you in it."
That was the sweetest thing that anyone had ever said to me before. If I wasn't already in love with Eric, that would have clenched it for me. I wanted desperately in that moment to show him just how much, but I caught the stray thoughts of a couple coming our way. "We need to get back to the room right now." I didn't realize how much I was focusing on getting us to the room until I felt myself sort of float in the air for a few seconds. When I came back to myself Eric, Lloyd and I were all in the room with a stunned Godric looking on."
The room started to spin around me and I would have collapsed to the ground if Eric hadn't caught me. "Easy Lover, I've got you."
"You always do."
"Is there anything else you can do that haven't told me about?"
"I didn't know that I could do that. I'm not even sure how I did do it." I rested my head on Eric's shoulder as I caught a glimpse of Lloyd who Godric was restraining. He was looking at me with his mouth hanging open and utter shock on his face. "What do you know?"
"You've used a Cluviel Dior haven't you?"
"Yes I have. How do you know that?"
"You've become a magical syphon. You took my ability to teleport, but it took more out of you then normal because you've never done it before."
I perked up as I listened to him. "I stole your powers?"
"Not stole, per say, you just drained me of the ability for a few days."
"Will this happen every time I come in contact with any supernatural creature?"
"With other fairies it will be automatic until you learn to control it, but with other creatures you will have to will the magic from them."
My mind was racing at this new development. If what he said was true, then this could change everything. I could take out Russell Edgington with ease, but could I really trust what this fairy was saying? I pulled Eric closer so I could whisper in his ear. "How do we know that he is telling the truth?"
"That's an excellent question Lover. We'll just have to do some experimenting."
I had a feeling I knew what he was about to suggest and if I was right I wasn't going to like it. "What do you mean?"
"You can practice on me."
Without saying a word, I pulled away from Eric, went over to my purse and pulled out another lemon slice. I went over to Lloyd, grabbed him by the hair and held the lemon a few inches from his face. "Are you lying to me?"
"No." I could hear the fear in his voice, but I needed to be sure that I couldn't hurt Eric.
"If you are lying to me your life is forfeit. If my mate comes to any harm, I swear you will pay with your life." I started to turn away from him when I caught a stray thought in his mind. "What aren't you telling me?"
"He's your mate?"
"Yes he is." There was no hesitation in my voice as I said it. For the first time I was publicly admitting my feeling for Eric. I was sick of denying my feelings and I was going to take control of my life for a change.
"But he's a vampire."
"That doesn't matter. All that matters is that I love him and I'm not about to do anything that could hurt him."
He paused for a second before he spoke again. "If he really is your mate you will never be able to hurt him, you'll be able to protect him, even from great distances."
I grabbed Eric's hand and led him into the bathroom so we could have at least the illusion of privacy. "I believe him."
"Are you sure? I don't want you to have any doubts."
"I don't have any doubts because what he said was true."
"What do you mean?"
"When I went out today I didn't want to leave you. I was worried that something could happen to you and somehow I conjured a protective bubble around the hotel room. I didn't know how I did it, but I did." I paused and rested my hand over his un-beating heart. "Are you really sure that you want to be my guinea pig?"
Eric set his hand over mine and I could feel his love for me radiating out of him. It helped ease my fears, at least a little bit. "I would do anything for you, even give up my existence to protect you."
"No, don't say that, don't even think that." I couldn't stop the tears from spilling down my face remembering that mountain top. "I watched you die once, I never, ever want to see that again." I leaned in closer. "I won't, I can't go on without you."
"After what I've seen happen between us, what you've done for me and just because of who you are, I know I can't live without you either." I could feel the love building between us as well as the power building inside of me. I knew in that instance what I needed to do.
I pulled him down to me and kissed him, pouring everything into him and I knew that this kiss would change both of us in the best ways possible.
