Author's note: Idea suggested, once again, by DragonZeus1. A little solemnness to catch a break from the constant comedy atmosphere. If you were waiting for that kind of change.
*Scrooge's POV*
I found myself facing death from the sky one night. I was taking a stroll when I began getting pelted by the stealthy Enderman-killers known as raindrops.
Of course, I began to panic, teleporting to random locations, desperate to find a place of shelter. I wasn't finding any safe place. All of the trees were entirely too short, and before it dawned on me that spruce trees were tall enough, my dear life was flashing before my eyes.
Right when I thought I was done for, I found myself within a structure. I was saved! But this structure was made of oak wood, with a wall-length window near the floor. A fireplace… wolves…
Rachael's castle. She wasn't there at the moment, but the one person that was was a strange kid. He had brownish hair and a checkered jacket. Yep, I could only wonder what this kid was doing here. He appeared to be playing around with the wolves.
At that moment, to both my horror and temporary dreaminess, Rachael came walking in the front door, looking at the kid.
Then, at me. She had clearly had close scrapes with others of my kind before, for she quickly looked to the ground. For a split second, I became lost in her beauty. She was so intelligent. So radiant, so bright… simply beautiful. So badly, I wanted to say "Please… go ahead and look up at me, my dear. Let me stare into those sea-blue eyes of yours. I won't hurt you."
I snapped back to reality when the mystery kid saw me as well and asked "Aren't you gonna go after him?"
What Rachael replied with forced a smile to be plastered on my face. She captured my heart once again.
"Not unless he starts attacking me," she explained. "I like Endermen. They're my absolute favorite mob. I mean, just… look at him as low as you can. Can you still see his sleek figure, those long limbs, and those epic purple eyes? How can you hate that?"
So… she loved Endermen in general. My love for her proved to me that for the moment, that was enough to give me hope.
"…Alright," the other guy agreed. "Hey, I gotta go home."
At that moment, I looked out and saw that the day was clear as… well, day. The sun shone again, much like my hopes. I would have left, but I had to find out if this mystery boy was anyone I should have been rivaling.
"Alright," Rachael sighed. "I'm glad you can be here with me at all."
"Me too!" the kid cheered. Then, he walked up to Rachael, who was right by the front door.
And kissed her cheek.
I absolutely couldn't stand the sight. I teleported out of the castle and to my new hangout location. Well… the new hangout location of me, Mark, Bill, and Alex since they decided that building a snow golem was a good idea…
I sat beneath a tree and, after looking around to make sure nobody was around, began to cry. A sight that was rare to see. I hadn't seen the truth coming like that. Rachael was… taken. Taken. The rain hadn't managed to kill me, but after the cold, hard truth hit me faster than a snowball, I was assured that my soul had crumpled up and withered away.
From here on, I saw no meaning to life. Suicide was something I considered heavily, even to the point where Alex went out of his way to ask what was wrong (a gesture that I greatly appreciated, yet I never told him the truth)… but something I just couldn't carry out. Something within my ever dying heart called out to me to hang on. That if I just stayed alive for long enough, it would greatly benefit me.
No matter what, however, seeing that jerk kiss my angel on the cheek made staying alive during that phase more difficult and daunting than absolutely anything else. My love for that angel only grew stronger, which made things even more ominous. Oh, what I'd do to find a way to strangle that mystery kid until every ounce of life within him was gone. Forever.
