Sneaking in was far easier than Steve had anticipated, Hydra must have gotten sloppy assuming that nobody would dare attack them given how much power they had in the region. Stark had managed to get a plane and they had taken off before Philips or the French resistance knew what had happened. "So how was the drop?" came Starks voice loudly into Steve's ear prompting him to grab his ear.

"You don't have to talk so loud" whispered Steve in the small receiver that Stark had given him on the plane.

"Sorry, I've never used this thing in the field before" muttered Stark lowering his voice to normal levels.

Steve crouched behind a parked truck and looked out into the depot where he had cut his way into the fence. The air drop was success, he could see men running the direction where Stark had dropped some bombs after Steve jumped out of the plane. The main part of the castle was slowly emptying with men going off to investigate possible damages and to be on the lookout for some kind of attack.

He moved silently and was able to get into the castle without being seen, he was about to round a corner when he heard some men approaching from the other side. He ducked into a small closet and watched as the men ran past the closet screaming things in German. He peeked out and made a note to learn German as soon as possible, he turned the corner looking for some kind of staircase that went down. He figured that the prisoners would be held in the basement, the red carpet of the hallways allowed his footsteps to fall silently on the floor. He stopped at another corner and took a peek noticing some men coming up some stairs but being stopped by others, they talked for a second before the men coming up stairs returned to where they had come from. The others left down another hallway and Steve approached the stairs, "Only reason someone would send them back would be if they were guarding something or someone" Steve said to himself approaching the stairs and heading down them.

The bombs had shaken Dugan from his sleep and now he was wishing that the cell had some kind of window he could look out of, he turned and could see Jim Morita, James Howlett, Victor Creed, Gabe Jones, Jacques Dernier and James Falsworth. He couldn't see Bucky anywhere and he looked around in a panic. "They took him while you were sleeping" informed Howlett from the opposite cell, Dugan closed his eyes and fell to his knees.

"You didn't think to wake me up" he said looking across at Howlett with a slight level of disdain.

"What would you have done? You would've tried to stop him, they would have killed you and we would be losing two men instead of one" he explained sitting down on the floor.

"When did the bombs start falling?" asked Dugan watching the guards come downstairs.

"About ten minutes ago" said Dernier who was leaning up against one of the walls of the cell.

The guards came down and started shouting things in German, there were five of them in total with one staying on the staircase that led down into the cells. "I'm getting tired of this" said Victor leaning forward. Dugan watched Howlett step forward and hold Victor back as if to keep him from doing something. They locked eyes and Victor moved to speak until they heard the guard on the stairs scream and tumble to the floor, a red, white and blue shield flew into the room and knocked down two other guards. The final two guards looked up the stairs and raised their weapons ready to shoot anyone who came down the stairs. Victor and Howlett approached and grabbed them from behind. Victor seemed to drive his fingers into the collar bone of one of the guards while his brother broke the final guard's neck.

Steve came down the stairs and picked up his shield making a note to practice throwing it more once he got back to base. He started opening up the cell doors "Bucky? Are you here?" he called out looking in the dark.

"He's not here" said Dugan jumping out of his cell "Name's Dugan, Bucky is a part of my unit. He was recently taken by the guards" he explained. Steve opened up the rest of the cells and the others joined him in the hallways.

"Barnes is alive" chimed in Howlett, Steve looked at him, "it's usually days before Zola comes back for more test subjects. I can take you to Zola's tower and we can go get him."

Steve nodded, "Sounds like a plan" the group began to move up the stairs "Are there anymore prisoners?" asked Steve peeking up and seeing no guards in sight.

"Yes a few hundred are kept at the back of the complex, they only keep a few inside the actual castle at a time so they can keep the guard duty down there at a minimum" explained Falsworth.

"Ok, Howlett will lead me to the tower where we will rescue Bucky and you guys will head down and bust out the rest of the prisoners. It shouldn't be a problem since most of them are probably still investigating our diversionary operation. After that get out of here, don't wait for us we can make our own way" ordered Rogers following Howlett.

"Victor lead them to the armory and get some weapons" ordered Howlett who was staring daggers into Victor. "Don't do anything stupid Victor, get the prisoners and get out." Victor nodded and pointed the others to the armory.

Howlett started jogging with Steve right behind him "How do you know where the tower is exactly?" Steve asked.

James looked back for a second with a look of contemplation "I can smell Barnes, I can track where he is."

"Smell him? I'm not even going to bother to ask how that works" said Steve as James led him up a set of stairs.

Dugan and the others followed Victor to the armory where they grabbed some of the Hydra weapons. Dugan had seen them in use when they would execute prisoners to keep the others in line. They fired energy instead of actual bullets which Dugan was hoping would come in handy given the certain situation they were heading into.

Victor looked outside while the others raided the armory and spotted the prisoners, "There they are" he said as Dugan came up behind him. The complex was four buildings surrounded by a wire fence, some of the prisoners were walking around between the buildings but were doing nothing to escape despite the guards all running off.

Falsworth stepped up next to them "We are going to need some firepower if we are going to bust out of here."

"I can get a hold of the resistance if we can find the radio room, they can provide some cover for us" said Dernier looking out the door that they had come into the room from.

Dugan nodded, "Gabe, go with Dernier and find the radio, Falsworth and Morita go get us some heavy artillery." Dugan turned and stood next to Victor, "You and me are going to get the prisoners ready to move" he ordered prompting a snort and a nod from Victor.

Zola had been experimenting on the prisoner Barnes when Red Skull had called him in for an update on the various Tesseract technologies he had been working on. They had been talking when the attack had come and the meeting was stopped so the Red Skull could coordinate the force going out to investigate.

Red Skull was staring out the window as Zola picked up where he had left off, but his mind began to turn about the short bombing run. The attack wouldn't do any damage to the base and seeing how far out it was from the main castle it would only work to distract him from somewhere else. The light bulb went off in his head in that very moment "Recall the patrols and divert all men to the main castle, it's a prisoner escape" he called out to one of his lieutenants who ran out of the room.

Steve and James reached a set of stairs "He is up inside this tower, I'm going to go help them rescue the prisoners" informed James taking a whiff of the air before heading off.

Steve wanted to thank him but he was already turning a corner and heading for the prisoners. He turned and started sprinting up the stairs, he was going to find and rescue Bucky no matter what it took.

Bucky had been awake for nearly four hours, Zola had been sticking him with things, pawing over him. He was tied down to a table for the entire process, the lights that were hooked up above the table were blinding him but luckily he could look to the sides, he could see charts and boiling liquids. Zola had literally sprinted from the room when a soldier came to get him to meet with who Bucky assumed was the commander of the base. He had heard the explosions and assumed that a small bombing run was being used to weaken the base but he didn't have much hope, he had learned during his time in the cell downstairs that Hydra could not be stopped by normal means. He had figured that Zola would have come back by now but he must be hiding out with the commander in some kind of bomb shelter as a precaution. He couldn't see anything he could reach in order to foster some kind of escape so he simply closed his eyes and accepted his fate.

Steve kicked in the door to the tower and didn't see any guards waiting for him, they obviously had not anticipated any kind of infiltration into the tower. He started walking through the lab be aware not to knock anything over in case a guard was hiding out in order to ambush any intruders. He looked over and saw some lights set up in the center of the room, he still didn't see any guards in the room and approached the lights. It was in that moment when Steve saw Bucky laying on the table, he ran forward and started undoing the bindings that were tying him down to the table, "Bucky? You ok?"

Bucky's eyes opened up slowly and the light blinded him, he could see a figure undoing his bindings. He felt that this was his best chance to get out of the situation he was stuck in, his right hand shot forward and caught the figure who pulled back slightly from the strike. Bucky pulled his upper body up and worked undo the bindings on his legs. The figure did not return to stop him from escaping which only made Bucky move faster.

"I can see how you always knocked out those bullies back when we were kids" said Steve with a slight smile.

Bucky stopped in his tracks and looked back at the figure, Bucky's mind began turn. He looked at the figure from top to bottom. "It couldn't be Steve, he was too tall, too built, but the voice was too similar. Bucky moved forward and Steve stepped into the light prompting Bucky's mouth to drop. "How?" said Bucky.

Steve smiled and grabbed Bucky by the shoulder, "We don't have time to talk we have to get out of here right now" explained Steve moving towards the door. Bucky nodded and followed him, "The other guys from the dungeon downstairs are arranging for a way out of here" he explained as they descended the stairs.

"I saw where they kept the vehicles while they were moving me to the tower with Zola, there is a warehouse on the other side of the complex, I saw trucks heading into the warehouse through the windows while they moved me" Bucky explained limping slightly.

"Okay than that's where we are headed, we'll get some vehicles and go pick up the others" said Steve as they moved down the stairs with purpose.
