Sheila

The next morning I woke up with a cold. My throat hurt and I kept sneezing really loudly.

'I knew I shouldn't have stayed outside so late'

With much grumbling, I did my morning routine. After taking a shower, brushing my teeth and my hair, and putting on a clean gi, I joined the gang at the breakfast table. Just as I sat down with my cereal, Goku walked in. With a bright greeting, he got the same thing as I did. When I was about to take a bite, I suddenly felt a sneeze coming. Dropping the spoon back in the bowl, I was just barely able to cover my nose before I did a huge sneeze, accidentally banging my head on the table.

I cursed, rubbing my poor forehead. Bulma looked over at me, her eyebrows furrowing in worry.

"Are you okay?"

I smiled at her

"Don't worry, I just have a bit of a cold."

Instantly, Goku's head snapped over to look at me so fast, I faintly worried that he'd give himself whiplash. This wasn't my main concern, though. Oh no, what I had to worry about at the moment was far worse.

Goku in Mother Hen mode.

My brother ran over to me so fast, he was nothing but a blur. Screeching to a halt once he got to my chair, he slapped the palm of his hand to my forehead, babbling nonsense, asking if I thought I should stay at the hotel today. I sighed, detaching his hand from my head and waving at him irritably when he tried to put it back.

"I'm fine Goku, it's just a little cold. Nothing to worry about"

He stared at me, trying to decide if he should believe me or not. Apparently deciding I was telling the truth, he slowly went back to his chair, keeping his stare on me even as he sat down.

Returning to my cereal, I noticed Krillin, Bulma, and the gang looking at the both us with confused looks. After taking another bite, I turned my face to them so they could see me roll my eyes in Goku's direction, mouthing 'worry wort' when the boys still looked confused. They seem to understand, because they turned back to their respective meals without further questioning looks.

Satisfied, I took another bite, fully intending to focus on nothing but food for about 20 minutes, but Kami seemed to be working against me. Right when I was getting ready to swallow, another huge sneeze made me swallow all the food in my mouth at the same time by accident. As I choked and coughed, I saw Goku's eyes narrowing at me in worry. Once I finally stopped coughing, I groaned and dropped my head on the table.

I had a really irritating feeling this was going to be a long day.

We all walked to where the tournament was being held, splitting up once we got there. While Bulma, Puar, Master Roshi, and Oolong joined the audience, the boys and I went to the fighter quarters.

I sneezed from my spot on the wall, grumbling to my self in irritation. From my right side, RanFan gave me a concerned look.

"Hey, you okay?" The taller girl looked down at me worriedly. Turning, I smiled at her.

"I'm fine, just caught a bit of a cold. Been sneezing all morning. My brother almost had kittens" I rolled my eyes in Goku's direction.

She spared him a glance.

"He doesn't seem to be the worrying type" She stated offhandedly.

I snorted.

"Usually, no. But any time I catch the smallest cold, he's on me like white on rice. Fortunately for him, he doesn't pull that when I get hurt from a fight. Only when it's a sickness; that's when the Mother Hen in him comes out. Don't know why, though"

I shrugged, glancing in my brothers direction with fondly irritated look. The purple-haired girl clapped me on the shoulder.

"Well, hope you feel better by the time your match comes around."

Instead of a verbal response, I smiled at her to show my thanks instead. RanFan returned the smile, before she turned and walked off in the direction of Nam, leaving me in silence.

It was another thirty minutes before the announcer finally called out for Goku and Nam to enter the ring. As Nam walked out, I frowned, glancing around. I couldn't see Goku anywhere.

'Well, where did that little monkey go?' I hummed to myself, looking around me; trying in vain to spot my brother. Furrowing my eyebrows when I didn't catch sight of him, I tried to remember if this had happened previously when I had watched the shows in the real world. Hmm...Yeah, I remember something like this happening. Pretty sure it was during his fight with Giran, not with Nam. Guess this is the space-time continuum's way of making sure a paradox doesn't occur.

As the announcer called Goku to the ring again, Krillin ran up to me.

"Have you seen Goku?! He was here just a second ago, and I turned my back and then he was gone!" He almost yelled, waving his arms irritably.

I shook my head "Nope, I haven't seen him since we first got here"

Yamcha walked up just in time to hear me say this. His face dropped in disappointment. He obviously had come to ask me the same thing Krillin had. We all suddenly stiffened as we heard the announce say Goku only had one minute to get to the arena until he was disqualified from the match. We all split up, searching frantically for my brother so he didn't miss his match. Well, everyone but me was panicking, since I knew he wouldn't actually miss it. But even I was starting to get worried when the announce started counting down from twenty.

"I found him!"

RanFan voice suddenly filled the tense silence. We all froze for a second before we all took off to where the voice was coming from. Yamcha got to him first. He snatched my sleepy looking brother by the arm.

"Goku! What the heck are you doing?! Come on hurry, your about to miss your match!"

The announcer raced past him and dragged Goku toward the ring until he got to his feet, and Goku shot to the arena. He got there just in time.

"Wait! Here I am!"

He climbed up on to the plat form as fast as he could. The announcer rubbed his face nervously with a napkin, telling the spectators that Goku had been doing something that made him unable to hear his summoning to the ring.

My brother then turned and smiled at the audience innocently.

"I was taking a nap" he told them brightly.

As they all did anime falls, I slapped the palm of my hand on to my forehead in exasperation. Then I promptly glared holes into the back of Goku's head. The little nut must have felt my anger because he turned and looked me right in the eye. I didn't bother mentally contacting him, the 'You are going to get whacked' look did all the talking for me. It didn't faze Goku one bit, he just gave me a goofy smile and turned to face Nam. I wasn't really expecting him to be anyway. That look graced my face with its presence quite a lot when dealing with him, so it was no wonder it didn't bother him.

Only when I was sure that Goku was completely focused on his opponent did I let the anger melt off my face, only to be replaced by an amused grin. I chuckled to myself, to be honest, I wasn't as angry as I led Goku to believe. In fact, I found it funny more than anything.

'Growing up with Goku is like watching a hilarious film' I snorted to myself quietly, suppressing the laughter that wanted to burst forth. No, it wouldn't do for Goku to find out how much humor I found in his antics. Little monkey would think he could get away with everything if he ever did.

'I believe that this can go on the Things My Brother Must Never Know list, right along with how adorable he actually is' nodding to myself, I turned my attention back to the match.

Goku was doing his usual pre-fight stretch while Nam just stood there with his hands clasped in front of his face in a praying position. The Asian man's eyes were closed and they only opened when the announcer said it was time for the match to begin and the gong was hit.

As my brother and his opponent took their fighting stances, I kept my eyes trained on Nam's. They had a determined glint to them that I had seen in all the contestants eyes, but his seemed different. They were filled with a grim seriousness that the others fighter's eyes did not hold. Like he was only here for one purpose only and he was going to do his hardest to fulfill that purpose. If I didn't know what I did, I probably wouldn't have thought much on it, but I had an insight that no one else did. With the knowledge I possessed about this world and all the people in it, I had an idea of what he was thinking.

He was completely focused on getting water for his people. Nam had traveled hundreds of miles just so he could provide for the people he cared about, and with little to no help along the way. It would take a lot of bravery to do that sort of thing, not to mention perseverance. This was the reason I held a sort of respect mixed with admiration for this man. Even back in the world I had lived in, I had alway had this. And now, as I actually interacted with him, these feeling only seemed to grow. I almost felt guilty that he wouldn't be able to fulfill his purpose for being here, but it satisfied me that he was able to get water for his people in the end.

I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts and focus on Goku's fight. 'Whoa, I'm getting too serious. If I'm not care full, I might become...mature, ugh' I shivered in revolution at the thought. Chuckling to myself, I turned my attention to Goku's match.

I was just in time to see Goku try to use his speed to blindside Nam with a kick. After some fumbling on Nam's part, he was able to doge Goku's kick by jumping up into the air. My brother's opponent countered by using a flying kick, but he dodged before the kick could hit him. Nam sent a flurry of kicks to my brother, but they were all blocked. Goku did the same thing, but used his fists instead of his feet. His opponent blocked all of them. Nam got the first hit of the match with a kick to Goku's face. My brother stumbled a bit, before he got Nam with a sweeping kick to the legs. He followed it up with a punch to the chest that sent Nam flying into the wall. The Asian man was able to turn in the air so he landed on the wall feet first. He pushed off and sent himself hurtling back at Goku. My brother wasn't able to react in time, and he got a chop to the side of the neck.

Goku fell to the ground on his knees, curling up into a ball and holding his neck while groaning 'That hurt'. Nam tried to end the match by charging Goku while his back was turned, but my brother tripped him by pulling on his ankle with his tail. As he stood up Goku wagged his tail at Nam.

"What you think? Pretty handy, isn't it?" he laughed.

"I did not...expect that" Nam replied, getting to his feet.

As the announcer did his thing, I smiled at my own tail as it wiggled and swayed behind me. Goku had been right, our tails were pretty useful. At first, my new appendage felt awkward and strange. I eventually got used to it, though. It's almost like having a third arm.

I smiled fondly at my tail one last time before I turned my attention back to the fight. Goku and Nam were taking a breather for now as they both tried to decide what attack to use next. In the back of my mind, I felt the echos of Goku's excitement suddenly take on a more mischievous feel. I eyed my brother warily. It was never a good thing when Goku felt that particular emotion. I had a feeling this time whatever he was planning was going to back fire on him.

"Hey! I just thought of an attack that I think your really going to like!" mt brother told Nam, grinning.

The Asian man raised an eye brow "Oh? What do you call it" he asked warily.

'Uh-oh, here it comes' I thought once I spotted the grin on Goku's face as he answered.

"Tornado!" Immediately after that response my brother started spinning in circles until all we could make out was a blur of colors. He made his way to a surprised and Nam and got him with a hit to the chest. Nam backed up, putting a hand where Goku had hit, a startled expression on his face. He tried to counter, but my brother was spinning too fast. Nam couldn't even get close enough to get a hit in without being struck himself. All he could do was step back ech time Goku came closer. Eventually, he got to the edge of the ring.

With a shout of "Oh no!", he turned back to face the still rapidly advancing Goku. Nam could do nothing but wait for the inevitable. Just as he closed his eyes and braced himself for the finishing blow, my brother's spinning form started to slow down. As Goku collapsed from the dizziness, Nam stared down at him in shock, accidentally taking a step a cry of surprise, Nam almost fell out of the ring. He was just to catch himself with an arm and a leg.

"I was so sure that I was going to lose this match, but Fate has given me another chance to win!" he said, standing to his full height. Nam's larger formed loomed over Goku's "That was a very unpredictable attack, but it has caused your downfall" he told his dizzy opponent.

Nam stood there for a moment before launching himself into the air. My keen eyes followed his form rising into the air, as I started to mentally nudge at Goku, trying to get him to get up. I turned my nudges into full-blown mental shoves while I screamed at him from my spot to get up. As Nam got closer and closer, my attempts to awaken my brother got more frantic.

Suddenly, Goku's mind started to come from the dizzy spell he had been caught in. His emotions slowly became more clear, and his eyes opened. Goku noticed something was wrong immediately when he felt my emotions.

-/Sheila? What's the matter? Whats wrong?/-

-/GOKU! MOVE! NOW!/-

But it was too late, and before my brother could ask me again, Nam slammed into his chest.

"GOKU!" I screamed, my eyes widening as they took in the sight of my brother's shocked and pain filled face, before it suddenly went slack. In my mind, I knew he was okay, but it didn't do anything for the painful squeeze my heart gave when I felt that brief slash of pain from my brother before he passed out. Beside me, I could hear Krillin and Yamcha give their on exclamations of worry, with 'Jackie Chun' commenting on how my brother couldn't possibly get up after a his like that, but I ignored them

As the announce started to count down, I stared at Nam angrily. If I didn't know that he only did this to help his people, I would be beating his skinny ass into the ground.

I growled and crossed my arms over my chest, deciding to let Goku wake up on his own. I suddenly sneezed hard, accidentally biting my poor tongue in the process. Cussing loudly, I held out the aching muscle, crossing my eyes and trying to see if I was bleeding. When I didn't see any blood, I put my tongue back in my mouth. 'Damn it, I went so long without sneezing, why did I have to do it now!' I thought, sniffing angrily.

"GOKU! YOUR'RE OKAY!" Bulma's voice suddenly shrieked, making me put my hand over my ears with a curse.

Grumbling some of the worst profanity I knew, I rubbed my ringing ears once again. I swear to God, does that girl always have to be so Kami-damned loud?! Shit, I bet I was going to be deaf before I reached twenty! Wait...

What did she just say?!

I snapped my head up, immediately catch sight of my brother hopping around the ring while holding his chest and gagging as every one stared at him with their mouths hanging open. Filing away the image of the looks on their faces to laugh hysterically at later, I smiled in relief, my chest suddenly feeling not as tight as it was a few seconds ago.

Watching as Nam launched himself into the air again with Goku following a minute later, I sighed in relief with the knowledge that my brother seemed to be just fine. Glancing up into the sky, I faintly longed to be able to see the look on Nam's face when he realized Goku had followed him. I bet it was hilarious!

Laughing to myself as I tried to picture it, I watched as my brother came streaking back to the ground, landing solidly on the ring's floor. Backing himself up a few steps, he launched himself toward the incoming Nam with a kick, timing it just right so it would knock his opponent out of the ring.

Everyone cheered, Krillin and Yamcha jumping up and down and hugging each other. As my brother waved at the crowd with his usual innocent crowd, me and Krillin went to congratulate him on his win. The bald boy got there first, practically jumping my brother in excitement as he hugged Goku and cheered. I hung back and silently watched Nam approach my brother and shake his hand before walking my way, probably intending to leave. The Asian man's eyes found mine as he went to pass me. Whispering a quick "Good luck!" to the man, I approached my brother.

He let Krillin go ahead of him slightly as the two made their way to the fighter quarters to wait out the intermission. When I got to him, the first thing I did was give him a well-deserved pat on the back for winning. As he grinned proudly, I suddenly surprised him with a bop on the head.

"Ow! Hey, what was that for" my brother pouted, rubbing the spot were I had hit him.

"That was for worrying me!" I said, glaring at him.

I gave a quick look around to make sure no one was watching, and once I was sure no one would see me, I gave my brother a quick hug.

"And this is for you being okay" I muttered in his ear, pulling back and walking away a second later, ignoring my brother's warm and teasing laughter. Cheeky little brat. 'Well, on to the next' I thought, following my brother and Krillin into the fighter quarters, preparing myself what was to come. Of course, I just had to sneeze first.

'Oh damn, it's back!'
