Rhys' P. O. V.

"I'm very disappointed in you," a sing songy voice said in my head as I stared into the darkness. "Did you think you could follow in my footsteps? You are nothing more than another pitiful little code monkey. All swagger, no substance."

And then I woke up.

I was on the floor of the caravan, and I groaned as I sat up, checking my map.

"...Guess Vaughn got the tracker working," I muttered, pulling the Drive from my port.

Everyone was gone, not even Emily was here. Wait... Why do I care if Emily is here with me or not? I shook that thought, getting up.

I looked around a bit before heading outside. The first thing I heard was a bunch of shouting, and I saw a dark night sky.

The team was near a ledge, and Emily was the first to notice me. She smiled and gestured me over.

"Mornin' sunshine," she said, winking at me. I felt my cheeks heat up. Luckily it was dark and no one could really see the discoloration in my face.

I looked over the edge of the cliff we were standing on to see a sight that made my stomach kinda churn.

There were bandits, technicals, and really loud sounds. The building they were going into was an old Atlas Warehouse, which should have been abandoned. But now it looked like a bandit hive.

But I was still in question. "Uhhh, what happened?"

"We got tired of looking and learning, so we decided to wander around the desert. And we looked and learned that you drool all over the floor while you're unconscious" Fiona said sarcastically.

Emily giggled and Vaughn told me that he tracked the money.

"Quiet. This place is crawling with bandits." Felix said, looking at us in distaste.

"You okay, Rhys? You totally whacked your head... Right after you plugged in..." Vaughn said after Fiona went back to Felix and Sasha.

"Yeah, I was really worried..." Emily continued, looking at the place on my head I hit the floor on. "It was like electricity surges through your body in an amount that was far too much, causing you to pass out."

I ignored her. "See. I told you I'd find the money."

"I dont remember you telling us that." Vaughn said. "And we were the ones who had to figure out that rust bucket's navigation systems. Okay that was mostly Emily, but some of that stuff is even older than Atlas tech."

I shook my head slightly and the three of us joined the others. I crouched down next to Fiona.

"So, the case is in there?"

"Somewhere." Felix replied.

"Wow, what is that place?" Sasha asked.

"Looks like some kind of abandoned Atlas Warehouse." Vaughn answered.

"Doesn't look abandoned to me." Felix and Emily said at the same time. She smiked at the old man, and I felt a pang of jealousy. He's an old man, Rhys. Calm thyself. I had learned that phrase on Earth on a site called YouTube from a guy named Terry from TerryTV. Stupid phrase, but Emily got it stuck in my head. Like a lot of other things.

And did I mention that I ramble when I'm worried? In my mind mostly, but also out loud.

"Looks more like every bandit on this side of the planet has shown up," Fiona agreed.

"How about it, Mr. Roboto? Do you see any way to get inside?" Sasha asked me, and I hated that nickname. It was horrible.

"Rhys, if that's Atlas tech, you should be able to scan it." Vaughn said.

I nodded and activated my ECHOeye, looking around with it. I looked over the landscape, seeing a crane, lots of bandits, and an open door that had two guards standing guard.

Hmm... I thought as two bullets zipped through the air and the guards crumpled to the ground, dead. I quickly turned my head to where the shots came from, and my eyes were met with the Vault Hunter from earlier at the deal.

"Its that Vault Hunter." I said aloud as Zer0 zoomed to the door that was previously cleared of security.

"Oh, perfect. As soon as a Vault Hunter finds a case with millions of dollars in it, its as good as gone. You know how they are! They're worse than bandits." Vaughn complained.

"Can't we just go in the same way the Vault Hunter did?" Sasha asked. Fiona scoffed. "We're not Vault Hunters, Sasha."

Rhys time. "Settle down. I got this."

It took me a few minutes, but I finally discovered a hatch leading underground and seemingly into the warehouse. My eye glitches, and I deactivated it. I would have to ask Emily about help later for repairs.

But I would be fine. I always was.

I reported my progress to the team, and Felix nodded, standing up from his crouching position. "Okay, so you found a way in. Now remember to get in and out of there quickly. We've already taken too many risks today."

"You're not coming along?" Fiona asked him.

"Somebody needs to stay and protect the getaway car. I'll be waiting for your signal." Felix responded.

"Wait, Felix." I heard Emily call as the old man started towards the caravan. He stopped and turned to face her with a questioning look on his face.

"Can I stay in the caravan as well? I'm not very good in situations like these." The blonde shorty said, shuffling from foot to foot.

"I dont mind." He said, smiling a half smile.

"Thanks. Rhys, is that okay?" She surprisingly asked me, of all people.

"I-I guess. It'll keep you out of trouble, so I suppose." I replied.

"Thank you, Rhys. Hey, Fiona. I have something for you." Emily said, looking to the con artist to the side.

Fiona stepped to her and Emily drew her pistol. The con artist took a self-conscious step back, and Emily flipped the gun in her hand so the barrel was facing the owner of the gun.

"I want you to hold on to this, okay? It was my dad's. Kinda stole it, if you catch my drift," Emily laughed bitterly. "He would want you to use it. I want you to use it as well. Just until you get back to me and return it. That little derringer isn't going to do much damage, especially only with the one bullet you saved." She paused, then remembered something. "Oh, bullets. Here." She said as she fished out an extra clip full of bullets.

"There are only seven in here, and seven in the gun. Fourteen shots total, so dont get in a major fight if you can avoid it." Emily said, handing the clip to Fiona.

"I dont get anything?" I asked, faking annoyance.

Emily laughed and walked to me, and standing on her tiptoes, giving me a kiss on the cheek. My eyes widened as big as an owl's, and my cheeks turned crimson- for what must've been the millionth time that day- under her lips.

When she pulled away, she smiled and seemed a little flustered. Sasha and Fiona crossed their arms, giving me a death stare that said, 'you hurt her and you'll die'. Vaughn smiled, and Felix narrowed his eyes the slightest bit, as if in distaste.

"Well, you had better get going." Emily said, hugging Vaughn. He returned it, and gave her a friendly pat on the back.

She then pulled the sisters into a long embrace, and they stood there, slightly shocked for 2.1 seconds before squeezing her back.

"Thanks, Emily." Fiona said, grinning. The blonde nodded, beaming.

"And Fiona?" Emily called.

"Yes?" The con artist responded, looking up from the pistol.

"Dont betray family." She responded, a serious look on her face. Then, as quickly as it had appeared, it left, replaced with her natural bubbly personality. "Well, I'd better get going! Thanks again!" She called, before back into the caravan.

Felix turned to follow before looking back. "And Fiona, Sasha, be prepared, don't trust anyone." He said to them in a low voice. He meant us, I knew it. They didnt trust us.

How were we supposed to work together without trust?
