Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, but Alina is my character.
Chapter 11: Origins
Alina took off the clothes that she had been wearing in order to see to her wound. Her white shirt was stained a dark red from the blood as she recalled the last thing she heard in her vision as she peeled the fabric away from the sticky blood of her wound. 'You have little time left, dear child' was all the dark voice said before a clawed hand grabbed her side and burned her with white hot flames. She was unable to decide what was more painful, the truth she had learned or the wound she had received as punishment. She thought of what she had learned. That the devil who cursed her, was never a devil at all. That the 'devil' was not the one to curse her, but was bound to carry out the curse. The one who cast the curse was the maiden from the song, angry and bitter at those who had separated her from her love. When she found out what had happened to him she had cursed her own child, for the child was the result of her forced marriage from her family.
Though that was what it had appeared to be. The truth was sad and twisted. Alina thought back to every emotion she had felt from each party. The betrayal and bitter anger. The dark thoughts and feelings as time had moved forward. The child she bore was a daughter, who was cursed to kill the love of her life. Cursed by her own mother to spite the blood line of the man who had separated her from her love and murdered him before her eyes.
The daughter was born with a mark of black thorns upon her back, just as Alina was. When she was thirteen she was married off and as the years went on she fell in love with the man who was her husband. She bore him a daughter and a son. Then on her twenty fifth birthday the curse took effect. It wrapped its thorns around her soul and took control of her body. She took a hatchet and killed her husband. She was brought back to reality in order to witness what she had done. She clutched her husband's dead and bloodied corpse to her body as she rocked back and forth weeping. Then the curse that was bestowed upon her from before she was born consumed her soul and only left a bloodied corpse for her children to find.
Alina tried to clear the images out of her head. It was horrible and terrifying. Twisted and cruel, but all of it was true. Alina clutched her sides and ignored the pain of the severe burn as she collapsed to floor and let tears fall. She had not cried since her brother was killed in front of her by the slave traders. Though these tears were different than ones she had shed at that time. Then she had felt sorrow, anger and loss. Now she felt fear, despair and agony.
Despite the pain she felt from her wound she clutched her sides harder as she cried and let the tears fall to the wood floor in her room. Her blonde hair fell off of her shoulders and away from her back, revealing the curling black thorns of her own mark upon her pale skin.
Naraku stood outside of her room listening to her cry and scream in agony, when he had looked into her room he had seen the mark that was upon her back. The black thorns seemed to move along her skin in a malicious manner. They grew, curled and scraped across her smooth skin. Then he noticed the burn on her side as it continued to ooze red, sticky blood between her fingers. The black and angry red flesh looked painful, yet she was continuing to grasp it tightly with her small hand. Her nails digging into the burnt and peeling flesh.
Though what had caught his attention the most was her weeping. He had seen little emotion from the girl whom he kept in his castle. Hidden from the world and anything it offered or would take. Yet now she was crying from something she had seen while out of his grasp. She was in both physical and emotional pain and Naraku had no knowledge from whence this pain had come.
Alina, the girl Naraku had found. The mysterious witch with the violet eyes would change everything. Not simply from her power, but from her existence as well.
A/N: Alright, so chapter 11 is done and we see Alina show a lot of emotion as well as a look at the origins of the curse.
