"So Max, are you turning in a photo for the Everyday Heroes contest?" Mr. Jefferson asks, peering at me like an ant. I feel so small right now Kate!

"Yes, I just need-

"More time huh?" Mr. Jefferson sighs, shaking his head. I could care less about disappointing him right now...

"Yes!" I lie. Wait no, that's true! Kate, please forgive me!

"Max, don't wait too long!" He says sternly. Okay...

"Okay..." I say and take my seat. Well, that conversation was pointless. I watch as Kate walks into class. It breaks my heart that you're glaring at me right now. You sit, I try to get your attention.

"Hey Kate... Uh..." My voice trails under your ice cold glare. By any chance, have you been crying?!

"Kate, it wasn't... It was... She's nothing to me!" What am I saying?!

"Please believe... She's just a friend... I'm sorry!" I say quietly. I look at her pleadingly. She laughs.

"Warren told me you had an... Unusual friend~" Unusual?

"Yes, exactly!" I nod my head. Okay, Chole can be a bit unusual I guess.

"He called her 'a pirate'!" Kate grinned.

"Chloe Price!" I agree.

"Don't say her name!" Kate objects solemnly. I stare back at her. She's serious right?

"I'm joking..." Kate looks away. I'm not so sure... The bell rings.

"Okay, Max, take your seat!" Why only me?! I look around as my fellow classmates start to swarm into the classroom.

"Kate catch!" I mouth. I throw a note onto her desk. She covers it with her hand and reads it. I grin as she smiles.

"Kate, Max, see me after class!" Jefferson slams on the desk he sits on. Everyone laughs. I accidentally glare. The smug Mr. Jefferson looks like he's trying to suppress a smile as he folds his arm in front of his chest.

"Max, do you want a detention as well?" He asks. Kate was right. Guy's a dick!

"Max man, quit while you're ahead~" Shut up Hayden. I glare harder.
