Kate's POV

We'd covered some major ground since Humphrey put Loki and I in our places, which was pretty embarrassing might I add, having an Omega talk to an Alpha like that defiantly wasn't common, although I guess Loki suffered through it to which is fair. "You okay honey?" Humphrey asked, still with Poppy hanging lazily from his jaws. "Mmmhmm." She cooed back, her eyes closed and a content expression across her face.

"She's so cute." Loki giggled grabbing mine and Humphrey's attention from Poppy to her mother. "You okay back there mom?" Humphrey asked with a chuckle. Loki sped up a little to walk beside Humphrey and I quickly followed assigning myself the position of walking beside him as Loki did. "I'm okay yeah. Are you? You are the one who's been carrying her all the way here." Loki replied smiling, but also sounding a little concerned. "Yesh I'm fine." He replied sounding a little aggravated.

"What's wrong?" I asked, pulling his attention away from Loki. "Nothing I'm just tired." He replied blankly. "Well we have been walking for a few hours and it's not far till Jasper now so we can stop and rest if you like." I said softly. He sighed and instantly stopped, gently putting Poppy down on the floor and laying down where he was. "Aww is my Humphrey getting sleepy?" Loki asked with a giggle, nuzzling his cheek. I felt a growl rumbling deep in my throat but did my best to suppress it.

He grumbled a reply and Rolled over away from us, cuddling up to Poppy. "Guess it's just me and you now Kate." Loki said, smiling up at me. I gently bit my tongue and nodded with a half fake smile. "Want to go for a walk?" She asked with a smile. Something inside me felt uneasy at this request and I gave her a look to show it. She laughed and sighed, rolling her eyes. "Come on, you think I'm going to bite?" She asked.

*Yes, yes I do think your going to bite.* I said to myself and we started back down the river leaving Humphrey and Poppy where they were. "Listen, I know we really don't see eye to eye but... Can we try and call a truce for Humphrey? I've never seen him this stressed out before." She started after we were far enough away from him.

I sighed and looked at the floor. "Neither have I. I didn't think I'd live to see the day he was ever stressed." I replied. She chuckled lightly and tutted awkwardly. "Okay... A truce for Humphrey." I sighed, stopping and turning to her, holding out my paw for her to shake. She accepted it and with a firm shake, nodded. "Agreed." She smiled. "Come on then, I don't want to leave those two along to long, not with that savage hunting my daughter." She sighed, turning and starting quickly off towards Humphrey again.

I stared after her for a few seconds before following. "A truce." I repeated, under my breath. I need to remember that because I know what'll happen if I don't and I don't want to upset Humphrey after what I've done to him. When I rounded the large boulder we were standing behind I saw Loki crouched over Humphrey licking the top of his head. "What are you doing?" I asked with a frown. She turned around and when she saw me, turned back around and continued.

"Taking care of him, considering he's done that for me since we found Poppy." She replied as if it should've been obvious. What about that truce we agreed on? "Right..." I replied blankly, laying down opposite the three and watching him sleep. He looked oddly cute when he slept, probably because he looks so content. Loki carried on her 'care' for about a minute before giving Humphrey a small kiss on the head and laid down at his side. I suppressed another growl and set my head down on my paws.

I really don't think I can ever get used to Loki being a head smaller than Humphrey and I, I think it's one of the reasons I don't feel intimidated by her. I wish I was her though, what I wouldn't do to sleep beside Humphrey like that. As I watched him sleeping my mind began to drift and plan the ways I could win Humphrey's heart. Spend as much time with him as possible alone? Play some of the games we used to with him or just good old fashion seduction but that's a last resort.

I was pulled back out of my thoughts by a soft, angelic sounding voice singing a song almost inaudibly. I looked back over at Loki to see her singing to Poppy was starting to stir a little. I'll give her a little credit where it's due, she does have an amazing voice. I forced myself to stay awake, I need to keep an eye out for the wolf that's hunting us because I don't think Loki could handle it on her own personally.

Humphrey's POV

I woke to Loki laying close behind me with her head leaning on my side, fast asleep with Poppy and Kate cuddled close in front of me also asleep. Lucky me, now I'm stuck between two wolves with a pup and a need to pee that's so bad I might actually die. I gently crawled out from where I was laying and snuck off behind a tree. I can't risk leaving them alone.

I made sure I could see them the whole time I was answering the call of nature before heading back over to them, sitting by our little troop with my senses on high alert. Every sound seemed deafening, birds sounded like they were singing into my ear and the river sounded like it was about to end the world. I felt my eyes start to drift from Loki and our daughter to Kate.

My eyes scanned her body from tail to head taking in every detail. She was as beautiful as I remembered her being, amazing body; athletic and toned and her face was as attractive as I remember. Butterflies awoke in my stomach as the scene of her sleeping on the train flashed through my mind. It was almost painful ro reminisce and I shook it quickly from my head.

*You've got a job to do.* I growled at myself, sighing and nuzzling Loki's cheek. "Loki, wake up." I cooed. She started to stir and rolled over, our noses almost touching. "What?" She asked with a yawn. "We'd better get going now." I said manoeuvring around her nose and nuzzling her cheek again. "Come on." I ordered after to try and hid the embarrassment I'd just brought to myself.

Whilst Loki woke Poppy I did my best to get Kate up, but Kate being Kate probably won't be easy. "Kate! Time to go." I said a little louder than normal, pushing her cheek with my nose. She groaned back but didn't open her eyes. I pushed her again a little harder. "Kate." I repeated. "Alright, alright! I'm up." She laughed, sighing and stretching before pulling herself off of the floor.

"Right just wait here whilst I go and get breakfast." I sighed, yawning myself before leaving the two alphas and Poppy alone. I honestly am surprised I've managed to survive after all of this, I don't even feel like on Omega any more and I know for a fact that I sure as hell don't look like one; the way I'm built now. I sprinted back into the forest and further from the train tracks.

I'd been running for about two minutes to try and find some trace of Caribou or maybe rabbits but there was nothing so far, that was until I came into a small clearing. On the opposite side of this clearing was the black wolf from before with two other Alphas as his sides. I skidded to a halt and threw myself behind a nearby fir tree, my breaths heavy from running and now from panic.

"Anything Yova?" The black wolf asked in a deep and manacle voice. "Nothing Sir." The ginger furred one replied. "Ash?" "Nothing." The blue furred one replied. The black wolf and sighed and lifted his head sniffing deeply. "This pup is shifty." He growled. "Sir, she's gone now, isn't that what you wanted?" The ginger one asked. The black one growled and snapped his jaws at the other, lunging at him for a bite.

"No! I want her dead! My mate was a foolish slut and I will not let her and some runts off spring get away from me!" He bellowed, almost shaking the forest around us. *So that's why he wants Poppy dead? Because he mate cheated on him? In all fairness I'm not surprised looking like that.* I thought, chuckling to myself. Anyways she is mine and Loki's daughter now and I know that there's no way in hell we'll let him even get close to her. I took a final deep and silent breath before bolting back towards the girls, praying that they hadn't seen me.

"Humphrey? Are you okay?" Kate asked before Loki could. "It's them, they're a little ways behind us but we'd better get moving." I replied briefly. "Wait what? How!" Kate exclaimed looking shocked. "We don't have time for that now, let's just get moving." Loki cut in, rushing forwards and picking Poppy up in her mouth. "Where are we going now mommy?" She asked with a sigh.

"Still going to Jasper dear." She replied with a calm tone. "Okay." She replied obediently. I chuckled at her with a strange proud feeling in my heart and we all started off at a jog down the train tracks. I don't know why it's always me that gets landed in shitty situations but I'm starting to get a little tired of it to say the least.

Finally the sight I never thought I would see again. It was the bank that led down into Jasper, we we're finally here. "Welcome Home Humphrey." Kate smiled as we strolled into the territory and away from the tracks, into the valley. "Yeah... Huh..." I chuckled feeling my stomach drop from my body. "Are you okay Humphrey?" Loki asked, still carrying Poppy.

"Y-Yeah... I'm ffffine..." I managed to say, staring around at the strangely familiar surroundings. It was terrifying being back here, I never thought I would ever be back here again. "Don't be scared Humphrey, everyone's been waiting for you." Kate replied softly with an adorable smile. My anxiety eased and I smiled back at her, walking a little closer beside her as we continued down to the main part of the western territory.

I could see some a lot of the wolves basking in the sun as usual with Eve and Winston sat overlooking it all from their den. My heart almost stopped when Winston spotted me and let out a loud howl as Eve ran down to us. "Kate! I was starting to get worried!" She exclaimed, pulling Kate into a hug. I instantly backed away and stood close beside Loki as Winston approached us.

"Kate... Are you sure this is the right wolf?" He asked, looking at me with a little anxiety as he glanced over at Kate. "Yup, that Humphrey alright." She replied. Winston turned back to me shocked and I nodded. "Hi..." I muttered. He sat down heavily and stared at me dumbfounded. "Wa... I... Wow... You look diffrent." He stuttered with an impressed chuckle.

I was about to reply when Eve appeared beside him. "Hello again Humphrey." She smiled. I nodded back as greeting and she looked over to Loki who was sat beside me with Poppy hiding between her legs. "And who's this little ball of fluff?" She asked, play bowing at Poppy to show she wasn't a threat. "She's our daughter." Loki replied. Eve looked up to her a little surprised.

"Our adopted daughter." I added with a smile. Eve nodded before turning back to Loki. "I see... And what's your name?" She asked softly. "Um... P-Poppy." She whispered, relaxing a little but. "Aww she adorable, so who are you?" She asked with a friendly tone but also some severity. "I'm Loki, I met Humphrey on the train and we've been together since." She explained. I let her speak because I know if I say anything I'll make things even more confusing.

"Interesting. Are you mates?" Winston asked, cocking his head at me. Loki shied away with a timid expression and I got up in a panic. "No, no, no we're just friends... Who have a daughter together." I blurted, becoming embarrassed once the sentence had processed. "R... Right... Well anyway welcome home Omega!" He beamed, shaking his head and patting my shoulder with a hearty chuckle. "Thank you." I replied, my nerves easing at their joy from seeing me.

"I believe Kate made sure your den stayed in tip top shape for your return." He smiled, nodding over to Kate who looked like she'd spaced out a while ago. "What? Oh right! Yeah I did, come on I'll show you." She smiled, nodding for me to follow her, which I did. "Come Loki, bring your little girl, I'd like to learn a little more about you." Eve smiled in a soft and welcoming tone and we parted ways for the first time.

Kate's POV

"Oh wow... You really did take care of it!" Humphrey beamed, running past me and into his old den with a look of pure joy on his face. "Of course I did, I know your parents would've wanted me too." I replied. He chuckled and sat down at his usual spot beside the little stream that ran through the back of the den. "Yeah... Hey listen Kate... I know I've not been very easy on you these past few days but... Thank you... For everything you've done for me." He muttered looking a little embarrassed.

I felt a warmth in my chest and I started over to him, sitting at his side. "Don't thank my Humphrey, it's the least I could do." I replied softly. Putting my paw on his and staring into his eyes with a soft smile. He started back and I could feel us edging closer together, he was almost magnetic to me. Just as we were about to kiss though, he pulled away and looked up at the ceiling.

"Feels good to be home." He smiled, playing off the awkwardness with ease. "Yeah I can imagine. How did you manage out there?" I asked sitting back down beside him and staring out of the den's entrance. "It was Loki. She never let me loose hope which is why she means so much to me, without her I would be dead." He replied seriously.

I felt sudden guilt hit me like a boulder. No wonder he's been so attached to her, not only are they parents but she saved his life, and to think I've been fighting against her this whole time. Maybe it is for the best that I let her have him, after all, all I want is for him to be happy
