Chapter 10: "Call for the final act"
No one's POV:
Ah, the morning. Such a magical moment, the dawn of a new day, a new story. As the sun filled the streets of the city with its light, a comfortable rather optimistic air lingered around. Optimistic, joyful, hopeful. A calm silence could be 'heard' if someone happen to walk at such hour, actually, some people could be seen walking, taking soundless steps. No one could say that it wasn't a 'perfect morning'.
It was so harmonious that it was almost impossible to notice the small hint of chaos that emanated from one man. One man that had a twisted mind, with insane plans. A smart, sneaky and blood lusty boy named Set.
His smile would fool many, always so hypnotizing for those that were weak, or simply naive. He thought that the world was his playground from he was god of. Don't misunderstand him, he would never, never cover his hands with dirt and blood, he had others to do that. Set always managed a way to get more and more workers, how he did that remains hidden deep in his own mind.
The only problem he had was Anubis. The so known jackal always finds some way to ruin Set's ones. They just hated each other, no one really knows why, that story is a secret that is kept in a locked chest, and the only keys were held by Anubis and Set.
Walter on the other side, did have a real smile, honest and gentle. He would always make sure that his friends and loved ones were okay, safe. However, behind his smile, was a scared, concerned and alert man, knowing Set, he knew that that 'snake' would do everything to take Anubis down. It was desperation that made him act so cautious when he waked around the streets, that made his eyes look tired, aware of the plans that the other male had. He would just try to mask his worries with an 'I'm fine' or 'don't worry about it' with his kind and polite smile, however if someone looked into his eyes, (s)he would be able to see his real thoughts.
No body knows how this rivalry started, not eve Josh and Dan, the members of Grojband were out of this secret too. But Anubis knew that it would come out sooner or later, and that made him feel uneasy like his whole world could simply fall with a couple of words, with a look, with a gesture.
He shouldn't have talked to Set in first place, he always knew, but didn't listen to his own warnings.
Walter let out a shaky sigh as she strolled around the streets, Laney was actually talking with the rest of Grojband, to make things right. A smile played on his lips at the thought of everything going right for once, Corey and he had agreed to 'behave' for the girl. Josh and Dan were doing God knew what, those two always had something else to do, and Walter would usually join them, however the current events left him with no energy to hang out to do, mostly probable, stupid things. Passing a hand through his black hair, he looked up to the clear sky, it was a beautiful day indeed, that didn't match to his mood an thoughts.
"What am I going to do?" He asked to the air, expecting no response. His tone would show a bit of humor along with a dry laugh with no energy. He had stopped his tracks, it might seem odd for the passers by, but he couldn't care less. "This... is a mess..." The boy would say as his stare focused once again on the road. Taking a big breath he continued to walk, the memories of the origin of the problem that he had on hand passing though his mind as quick as a lightning but as effective as a landslide, destroying whatever it was on it's way.
The details were now forgotten, Anubis couldn't care less about them. 'Suffering, a deal, betrayal, a warning.' The male chuckled at the thought of those words, it sounded like the typical story between good an evil, a hero and a villain, but at that point Walter didn't knew who was who, or maybe the two shared the same role. 'Chaos and death, both on the same side, yet against each other.' He chuckled once again rubbing the back of his neck. "How ironic..."
Anubis didn't like the idea of taking the part of an evil one, he wanted to do otherwise, however it was too late to take the other road. No, he wasn't planning on destroying the humanity, or anything like that, less if it meant harming the innocent ones, but, there was something that disturbed his mind, more like someone. He didn't have a bad heart, and he was decided in not changing that fact, but there was someone who would gladly do it for him.
"Set." The word would escape his mouth like venom, his glare aimed at no one, but if someone happened to come across it, that person would run away in a blink of an eye.
"You called~?" A mocking voice spoke on Walter's back, sending a cold shiver though his spine. "I must say Anubis, I wasn't expecting to find you walking around alone... Where anyone can just take you away." The male continued to speak walking around Walter to step in front of him.
"I have to say the same to you." Anubis replied glaring at the other who seemed to be enjoying Walter's rage. "What are you doing here?" He asked.
"What? Can't I just say hello to an old friend~?" Set asked in return, putting his index finger under Walter's chin with a smirk on his lips. The height difference between the two wasn't too much, however Walter was at least one or two inches taller.
"No." The black haired answered dryly.
"Oh, I see how it is Anubis." Set's smile vanished from his expression as he took a step back. "First, you look for help, then you treat me like trash, now look at us." He raised his hand and shrugged. "Like we were about to fight. How primitive."
Walter remained silent, watching carefully the other male's movements, as he was waiting for an upcoming attack.
"As cold as always." The snake smirked once again clapping his hands together. "I just came to see if you were prepared my little Jackal, because I am." He tilted his head to the right raising an eyebrow. "But as I can see, the canine is always ready. See you Anubis." He turned around to walk away, waving at Walter as if he was his friend.
Exhaling the breath that he was holding the whole time, Walter's body relaxed as he ran his hand through his hair once again. Muttering under his breath, the male turned around to walk back to the apartment.
"The final act." Set would say from afar, looking at Walter walk away. "Get your actors ready Jackal, because I'm going to be the protagonist and I need a good crew."
