CHAPTER 12: THE LAST HOPE...

AUTHOR'S NOTE: In this chapter NCIS: Los Angeles is mentioned.

FORTY EIGHT HOURS AGO...

A phone call to the FBI and NCIS in other states had sent them to the locations out of state.

It turned out that Joe Todd had friends across the United States and had been drunk one night just after Kate died, he had let slip to his sister, Rachel Cranston.

Fornell had told the FBI and they sent Agents to each state with each location. Now it has taken two days to get word back from everyone...

NCIS SQAUD ROOM...

TIM'S P.O.V.

The NCIS team from LA was ready to board a plane to come help us, but Gibbs told them it would be better if they stayed there, in case we needed them.

All of the teams except the two in Iowa had checked in…their last hope was that Abby would be at one of the locations in Iowa.

Then Gibbs phone rang and he answered, the look on his face told us that she had not been at either of the locations.

All ten locations had been checked and Abby had not been at any of them.

"Ab-Abby wasn't there...was she?" I asked and Gibbs shook his head.

"No, she wasn't. We will find her and not give up until we do." Gibbs said and I could hear the anger in his voice.

I dropped my head into my arms and I couldn't help but feeling like giving up. It was useless and it seemed no matter what...we would never find her.

It was hard not to...I mean it's been four months. We had been so sure that we were close to bringing her home after all this time.

"Oh, how I wish Abigail had been safe at one of those locations." Ducky said and we looked up, because no one had heard him come in.

The same look of sadness on his face that reflected on the rest…the same sadness and the worry.

"I know, Duck. We all had that same hope." Gibbs told him.

The hope we had been clinging to that Abby would be at one of the locations left the Squad Room.

"When we find Joseph Todd I will kill him..." Ziva said and began talking in Hebrew, it was clear she was swearing...plotting ways to kill.

"You'll have to stand in line, because I'm going to be the first. He took my girlfriend and my baby she was going to have from me." I said trying to sallow the lump in my throat, as I felt the tears stating to make their way down my face.
