Hey...did you guys miss me? Nah...I mean, why would anyone miss poor ol boring me?
;( *sniffles*
Well whatever. I don't own PJO and enjoy this chapter...-.- :P
Sam's POV (Samantha :D)
My eyes flickered open, flinching as I glared into the bright light fixed in the ceiling. I sat up but immediately regretted it as an onslaught of pain smashed into my skull. Letting out a curse, I bent over and tossed the contents of my stomach all onto the floor.
"Oh, careful child " I felt a pair arms lift me up and set me back on the infirmary bed. "You hit your head when you fainted earlier. I think the shock may have been a pretty big factor in this disaster."
I sat cross legged glaring at the mattress under me. My cheeks were flaming, embarrassed about being caught throwing up all over the ground. I turned my gaze up to meet the eyes of an older wiser looking man. Upon closer examination I realized that he had the upper body of a regular man, but the behind of a horse.
"Samantha...are you feeling alright? My name is Chiron." I blinked at him, completely at lost of words.
"You..you, you're a centaur!"
"Yes my dear. You are a bright child."
I cupped my hands over my mouth, suddenly I wasn't feeling so well again.
"Oh my, you are looking quite unwell." Chiron's face was wrinkled with concern. "Kai, Samantha doesn't look very healthy!"
A teenaged boy around my age popped out from the hallways to my right. He leaned forwards, the back of his hand pressed against my forehead. Feeling positively terrible, I leaned over yet again and vomited all over "Kai's" black sneakers.
"Ackk! What the Hades?"
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" My face flushed tomato red and my fingers went straight to my mouth. I started nervously chewing my nails, a pretty nasty habit I picked up when I was young.
He shot me a nasty look and swiftly slipped his feet out of his shoes. "Ew...oh well, I should have known better than to wear my brand new nikes to the infirmary. Something was bound to happen to it."
I glanced away mortified and placed my head between my knees. A pair of fingers touched my chin lifting my head up. Kai reached for a spot on my head touching the bump on my scalp.
"Oh, that looks nasty. Does it hurt?" In all of my embarrassment, I didn't notice the large bump on my skull. Now that he mentioned it, I felt all the pain rush into me. It hit me like an avalanche and I ducked my head down, desperate to stop the discomfort.
"Hey Hey, you're only making it worse. Calm down. You aren't making my job easy"
Chiron looked on uncomfortably. "Mr. Anderson, I trust that Samantha will be safe in your care. I have an archery class to teach."
"Yes Chiron." Kai looked on sheepishly at his mentor. "She will be taken care of" and with that, the centaur trotted out of the room.
"I'm not a baby, I don't need to be taken care of." I scowled at him.
He smirked. "Well too bad, cause your under orders of the head doctor himself to rest and let him do his job."
"Head doctor?" I raised an eyebrow at him. "You?"
"Such little faith Samantha."
"It's Sam, Kai" I spat his name at the end of my statement desperate for him to never find out the huge crush I harbored on him. "Where are Annabeth and Percy? I don't trust you."
He laughed, "The lovebirds returned to school. They told me to tell you that they will be back after the day is over."
I scoffed "Fine, I'm going to sleep"
"Nighty Night Samantha"
"It's Sam!"
And with that he shut the lights, closing the door behind him.
Annabeth's POV
Percy and I rushed into the courtyard, running into Will Solace. Our good friend and son of Apollo. Apparently he would be the one teaching us archery today. I felt a sense of dread seep into my soul.
Amber (bet you forgot about her huh? :D) was right behind us, mumbling about the short brief explanation of demigods we had given her on our short ride back to Goode. I explained to her the most I could, but we didn't have enough time. I stopped out conversation with a promise to explain more into depth later.
"Perce! Glad to see you again! You too Annabeth!" A smile lit Will's face but ceased immediately with a horrifying realization. "Hades...this is archery! What on Gaea are you doing here! You're going to kill everyone!"
I watched as my boyfriend's face turned red. "It'snotlikeIhaveachoice. Idon'twanttobehereeither!" His voice slurred as he rushed to finish his sentences.
Will started chocking as his laughter started progressively increasing. "I...*gasp*...was just...*gasp*...kidding!"
Amber didn't seem to understand us too clearly, but I was sure she would pick it up when she realized just how bad at archery my boyfriend was.
The other students openly watched us, eyes curiously soaking in the scene. Looking at smiling humor faced Will rolling on the floor and the bright red in the faced Percy ducking his head I couldn't help but laugh.
The son of Apollo's face was stretched so wide in a smile I was afraid he would break his face, and Percy looked so lost, like a tiny child not sure whether or no he should be mad at his parents for talking about him behind his back.
Percy pouted at me when I started cracking up. "Wise Girl! You're supposed to be on my side!"
"Im sorry Seaweed Brain." I pecked his cheek. "You're just so adorable!"
Will, who had finally stopped rofling led us to the crowd of students waiting patiently in front of the targets.
"Alright, so here, you guys will be learning the beautiful art of Archery."
"Beautiful art my butt"
I smiled, hearing his muttered unhappy comment. Samuel sidled up to us and whispered quietly into my ear.
"Hey, what happened?"
I turned to answer him. "I'll tell you later. Let's just get through the day first."
He nodded, accepting my terse response and turned his attention back to Will.
He had just finished his explanation on the days lesson and starting handing out toy bows and arrows. When Will reached us, He handed Samuel and I real celestial bronze arrows and a beautiful hand carved bow. He glanced at Percy uneasily and handed him a baby set.
Samuel roared with laughter and Percy dropped his head into his hands. "Gee, thanks Will"
"No prob buddy" and with that he walked off to scold a boy for pointing the arrow at one of his friends.
Percy glared at the target in front of him as if he was afraid it would bite his fingers off. Than he notched an arrow and let go of the string. Somehow and some way, the arrow flew back wards nearly shooting me in the head. Ducking, I narrowly missed death by the hands of my very own boyfriend. I reached for my ear feeling the blood flowing from the wound where the arrow nicked me.
Everyone suddenly stopped what they were doing. Samuel gritted his teeth, afraid to see what I would do. The students that were intently listening to Will turned to stare when he suddenly paused and dropped his arrow.
They all knew what type of fury I was capable of. Most of the people that piss me off end up in the infirmary. Will, being one of the medics, always gets a first row seat on the damage I cause to the people who make me mad.
Anger fueled me and I stomped towards my stupid insolent boyfriend. "Perseus! You could have killed me you know!?"
"I'm so sorry Annabeth." His voice came out sheepishly and softer than most had ever heard. It irked me that Percy was never afraid of me. It was a pretty known fact that I would never hurt him. As much as I hated it, it was true. He stepped closer to me and brushed my hair off of my ear. "Are you ok? Did I hurt you?"
The concerned look in his green eyes softened my pissed demeanor and I pushed his prying hands away. "I'm fine Seaweed Brain. We all know I've been through worse."
He chuckled. "Yeah. Also, this is why nobody is supposed to trust me with arrows." His last sentence was directed at the teens who were gaping openly for the 4th time today.
"Well, let's get back to shooting shall we?" Will broke from his stupor and caught the attention of our classmates once again.
Percy leaned forwards. "I'm getting sick of everyone ogling at us. The school day is almost over anyway, why don't we sneak away for a while."
I cocked my head back so that my mouth was right next to his ear. "You wish" Than I sauntered off secretly enjoying the dopey expression on his face.
I stopped in front of an empty target and nocked the arrow. Narrowing my eyes, I adjusted my position so that the target would without a doubt mark it dead center.
The shaft buried itself in the bullseye and I pulled the bow away from my face examining my shot proudly.
Percy's arms encircled my waist and he tugged my into his chest. Shrugging off his arms, I kissed his cheek and strode ahead to retrieve my dart.
Just as I yanked the bolt off the loud ringing sound of the bell echoed into garden courtyard. The sound of plastic slapping each other tolled through the air as teens dropped all of their bows and arrows into a basket, racing off to their lockers.
"Hey, Will"
"Yeah?"
"Did Argus drive you guys here?"
"Mhm, why?"
"Could you give us a ride to camp?"
"Sure, I don't see why Argus would mind. We're all going to the same place anyway."
Percy laughed. "Yeah, thanks man."
"No biggie. What are friends for?"
I reached for Amber's hand, my friend had been strangely quite all afternoon. She silently hooked her fingers to mine and stepped forwards.
"Whose this?" Will asked.
"Amber. She one of my friends from San Francisco."
"You're studying architecture?" Will sounded skeptical.
"What? You have a problem with it?" Amber raised a perfectly plucked eyebrow.
"No" Will was quick to respond. "I meant, well, you just don't look like someone who would be into architecture."
"Neither does Alana, but than again her father only sent her to our school because of the facilities. But trust me, I love architecture. Just because I actually care about how I look doesn't mean that I'm an airhead. I admit, I do act like that sometimes, but it's because boys only dig girls that are dumb and blonde." Amber started her speech pissed but by the end of her rant she was sounding more like the girly girl that I know and love.
"Ok. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you."
"Whatevs. But seriously, what is going on?"
"C'mon Ams, we'll explain in the car. I dragged her along with me as we settled into the Camp bus."
"Fine, but this explanation better be good."
Samantha's POV
I groaned rolling around on the bed as the lamp on my bedside table flickered to life.
"Hey there sleepyhead." I sat up when I heard the familiar voice of Annabeth next to me.
"What's going on? What happened?" I wasted no time with my interrogation. I threw question after question at her desperate for answers.
"Hey, calm down. I'll clarify it, just take a deep breath and listen. Are you living with both of your parents?"
"What does that have to do with anything."
"Just answer the question. It'll all make sense in the end." Percy answered
"Uh, well, I live with my mom and my stepdad. I never knew my birth father."
"Ok, well so far you seem to show the characteristics of a demigod. Remember what we learned about half bloods in class?"
I nodded hesitantly, "Yeah, half mortal, half god right?"
"Yes." Percy smiled. "What I'm trying to say is, well, this is a camp for demigods. Gods exist and we are their descendants."
"Ok, well, whose my godly parent?"
"Wow, people usually don't believe at first. What made you decide to trust my words?"
I glanced away from Percy. "Well, monsters have beeb attacking my mother and I for ages. I'm glad to know that we both aren't just crazy."
"Wait...your mom sees them to?" Annabeth sat up.
"Yes? Is that not normal?"
"Mortals aren't supposed to be able to see past the mist..maybe she's clear sighted. Like Sally." Annabeth seemed to be speaking to herself for a while and she suddenly halted with a realization.
"Well, I don't know what that means but I know my mom has been fighting these monsters since she was born. I don't know if that helps you any, but, uh, yeah"
"What?" Annabeth stood and started pacing. "That doesn't make any sense. Why would the monsters want to hurt a mortal?"
"Wise Girl...what if she isn't mortal?"
