Chapter 11: Red Pyramids

Beck gasped when he finally left the room, the hallways were twice as dark than before, the water was dripping from the cieling and a pale greyish blue light was coming from the window, it was like if the hotel was drawn to the bottom of the lake, the wallpaper was teared appart and the wood behind it was old and decaying as well as the floor, which was covered with small ponds of water all over.

Looking back, he realized that the door of the room 321 was blocked with iron bars, and the words 'Truth Revealed' were painted in blood, he knew that nothing he did would open those iron bars or break the door, the room fulfilled it's purpose and it won't open ever again.

Having no idea if he was underwater or not, he decided that the best thing to do was to go upstairs to the top floor, if he really was underwater he could just reach the highest floor and swim towards the surfance, and if he wasn't underwater, he could take a look of what was around him, so he ran towards the stairway and opened the door, when he got inside he had a weird feeling of crossing a curtain of cold water.

"What the...?!" said him completly confused as he found himself inside some sort of dark storeroom, taking the map out from his pocket, he realized that somehow the door took him to the basement, 4 floors under the room, he smiled bitterly, somehow, really deep inside of him, Beck knew it wasn't going to be that easy to reach the highest floor, shrugging resigned, he put the map on his pocket and opened the door, the water covered his ankles, the basement was flooded.

Ignorting that fact, the boy walked out to the hallways, no monsters were around and he was glad about that. Ignoring all the other doors, Beck went inside the one that reached the stairs and climbed to the 3rd floor again, he knew something changed, when he got to the stairs that leaded to the 4th floor, this time the stairway was on fire, several monster's bodies were clinging in the walls, like twisted potraits and they were writhing in pain, making really disturbing noises.

The heat was really horrible and he could barely breath, but Beck knew he would never get to the top floor if he didn't walked through there, so, ignoring the heat, the disturbing noises of the monsters and the lack of fresh air, he started climbing up the stairs, with each
step he took, his legs felt heavier and it was harder to breath, but Beck didn't stopped, he was sick of all of that, he was sick of that twisted town, he needed to reach the highest floor, something inside of him told him that what he was looking for was at the end of that stairway.

After what felt like an eternity, Beck finally arrived to the door at the top of the stairs, he opened it and got out of the fiery staircase breathing harshly.

Now he was in a messy and destroyed hallway, the air was fresher and he could breath normally, but that didn't meanth he was safe, because a pretty big row of mannequins, Lying figures, nurses and even monsters like the one back in the labyrint were heading towards him.

"I'm not gonna run anymore" said him standing up and smiling shadly "I'm done with this"

He took an iron pipe from a cracked wall and ran towards the horde of monsters, smashing them furiously and avoiding their attacks easily, he felt that each monster he killed was his payback against that cursed town, and his guilt eased a little bit as well.
After a few minutes of intense fighting, the hallway was filled with monster corpses, Beck was breathing harshly and sweating, but he felt really motivated and brave after defeating them all. Smiling, he walked towards the only door left, which took him to a small room with black stone walls and nothing inside of it but a pair of gigantic rusty iron doors, he had the feeling that he reached to where he wanted, after crossing the doors, he would face the worst that town could create, but if he reached that far, there was no point of going back...

He pushed the doors with surprising ease, the room was as big as a gym, the walls were of the same material as the last room, the floor was made of grating and the cieling couldn't be seen, there was some sort of high platform and under it there was another pair of red iron doors.

Beck looked up at the platform because since he got inside someone called his name.

"BECK!" it was Ruby, again alive, clinging upside down on an iron frame, and there was a Pyramid headed monster standing on each side of the girl, their helmets were bright red and they were carrying spears

"RUBY!" screamed him surprised but glad "Stop!" screamed him to the monsters "Leave her alone! Leave us both the hell alone!"

For a few seconds, the monsters seemed stunned, but then one of them walked behind Ruby, who screamed in panic, and then, the tip of the monster's spear came from her chest yet again

"Be...Beck" said her with weak voice, Beck fell on his knees...

The boy slowly stood up with a shady and angry expression on his face, looking at the floor.

"I was weak" said him with an thoughtful tone "that's why I needed you... I Needed someone to punish me for what i did... But that's all over now..." said him rasing his head and glaring at the monsters "I know the truth... Now it's time to end this!"

And, Like if the monsters were waiting that answer, both of them jumped from the platform, making the floor tremble a little under Beck's feet, but he didn't walked back, he took out his gun and started firing at them, but instead of walking sturdily like they usually did, that time they seemed affected by each shot of the gun, and they were making a great effort to reach him since they were twice as slow as before, Beck didn't had any troubles avoinding their attacks and keep firing at them.

The monsters were having a bad time trying to stop Beck, but he was tired and all he wanted was to end all that, even if that meanth he had to fight the Red Pyramids, the most powerful monsters he saw so far in that twisted town, because he knew the doors were locked and there was useless to try to open them, he knew they'll only open when the Red Pyramids where defeated.

Suddenly, after a few more shots, both monsters froze, Beck didn't stopped pointing at them, but then they walked to the center of the room, they pierced the floor with their spears and then they turned them around, putting the handle on the floor and piercing their own helmets, they didn't moved afterwards, it was like if they understood Beck wouldn't run away from his guilt anymore, he couldn't remedy what he did so all he could do at that point was to face the consecuences of his acts and accept his fate, and he was pretty sure that if he didn't knew the truth those monsters would never die, no matter how many times he shot at them.

Beck walked between the 2 Red Pyramids, which remained there like twisted staues, and he reached the door in the opposite side of the room, he had a horrible sensation: something really deep inside of his head told him that the Red Pyramids weren't the worst that the town could create, and that the really worst thing was waiting for him in the other side of the extremly long hallway he was.

"Jade?" said his own voice suddenly, he startled because the voice was coming from inside the walls...

-Hints-

*E1-1: It wasn't a surprise at all, he knew that would happen sooner or later, but he felt frustrated and tired of the same thing, besides that guilt was nothing compared with the one he felt when he found out he killed Jade.
He couldn't deny it was sad indeed, but maybe he would feel more sad if the girl turned into that redhead copy of Tori...

*E1-2: "What do you want, Beck?!" snapped Jade's angry voice, Beck knew what was next in that conversation, it was one of Jade's worst days at the hospital, her mood was terrible that day and he didn't wanted to listen the rest of that conversation, Jade said things that maybe she didn't meanth, so he just kept walking, focusing on the door he had in fron of him and he got out as soon as he could...

*E2-1: Even when he was aware that would happen anytime soon, he couldn't stop feeling useless and defeated, the guilt of killing Jade was strong enough to shatter him, but watching Ruby die again was a permanent reminiscent of his weakness,
he deserved that punishment, but he was tired of it...

*E2-2: "What do you want, Beck?!" snapped Jade's angry voice, Beck froze, he knew what was next in that conversation, it was one of Jade's worst days at the hospital, her mood was terrible that day...

"I brought you some flowers" said his voice trying to sound happy, but failing

"Flowers?!" snapped her "I don't want any damn flowers!, just go home already!"

"Jade...!" said his voice a little resigned "What are you saying?!"

"Look!" said her bitterly "I'm disgusting! I don't deserve flowers. Between the disease and the medicines, I look like a monster... Well... what are you looking at?" said her angrily "Get the hell out of here! Leave me alone already! I'm no use to anyone, I'll be dead soon anyways, Maybe today, maybe tomorrow... It would be easier if they just killed me, But I guess the hospital is making a nice profit off me, they want to keep me alive..." Jade's Rant stopped a little and then she talked again "Are you still here?! I told you to go! Are you deaf?! Don't come back!

Beck didn't knew why he stopped to listen that conversation, the day he listened it the first time was really hard and sad, and then he listened something he didn't heared the first day and it broke his heart:

"Beck, Wait..." said Jade's voice and it sounded like if she was crying "Please don't go! Stay with me! Don't leave me alone, I...I didn't mean what I said, Please Beck..." pleaded her desperate "Tell me I'll be okay, Tell me I'm not going to die, Help me...!"

The boy didn't realized when he arrived to the door, that conversation just finished crumbling his already damaged mood, he smiled bitterly as he opened the last door, it all would be over soon, he could feel it...

*E3-1: Even when it was the 3rd time he saw Ruby die, it was as hard as the first 2 times, the small bubble of hope that appeared on Beck's chest as he saw the girl popped, along with all his opportunities to actually leave that town with Ruby by his side, even when Jade was his priority, he knew he wouldn't be as happy
with her as he would be with Ruby, but she was gone again...

*E3-2: "What do you want, Beck?!" snapped Jade's angry voice, Beck froze, he knew what was next in that conversation, it was one of Jade's worst days at the hospital, her mood was terrible that day...

Well what are you looking at?" said her angrily "Get the hell out of here! Leave me alone already! I'm no use to anyone, I'll be dead soon anyways, Maybe today, maybe tomorrow... It would be easier if they just killed me, But I guess the hospital isbmaking a nice profit off me, they want to keep me alive..." Jade's Rant stopped a little and then she talked again "Are you still here?! I told you to go! Are you deaf?! Don't come back!

Beck was really mad about the conversation, he hated Jade that day, he was just trying to cheer her up a little and she treated him terribly... maybe after all it wasn't that worth to find her... after all, she wanted him to leave...

The boy waved his head and opened the last door at the end of the corridor

*E4-1: She was dead again?! how could that be possible?!, how was she alive again on the first place?!, Beck felt frustrated and tired of the same old trick to make him feel guilty, nothing could compare with the guilt of finding out that he killed Jade (appearently), it was sad indeed, but he just had enough, it was time to end all that...

*E4-2: "Beck?!" said Jade's worried voice "Come on Beck!" the more he listened Jade's voice, the blurrier everything got around him, he could barely see the door in the far and he focused on it, ignoring both Jade's voice and a second one that sounded pretty familiar too.
He reached the door focusing all he could and escaping from that room before his focus would break...
