Nobody (Sylvia)
"Hey, babe, I'm gonna be working late again tonight, don't wait up..."
"Oh, okay." Dean was disappointed. Cas had been working late a lot lately. "Who with?"
"Nobody."
"You got a call today."
"From who?"
"...Nobody. She hung up when I asked who it was." Dean struggled to hold himself in check- did that woman think she was being clever, not saying her name? Did she assume that Dean was so stupid he wouldn't catch on?
"Look, I'll see you in the morning, okay?"
"Yeah, alright. I love you." But Cas had already hung up.
Dean couldn't help but smile- Cas was finally paying attention to him again! They sat in a quiet little restaurant, their favorite, even if it was across town. Their waitress was a beautiful blonde who seemed to want nothing more than she wanted Cas. But Cas didn't even glance at her, and Dean wanted to shout it from the rooftops- his boyfriend was his again! But then- a different woman walked by. She was short and lithe, long brown hair cascading down her back. Cas gave her a smile, and turned to watch her leave the building.
"Who was that?" Dean asked pleasantly, already knowing the answer.
"Oh, Nobody." Dean didn't smile again for the rest of the night.
"She called again today." The couple sat on the couch together, watching some old movie.
"Who did, baby?" Dean was getting mad. Cas knew good and well who called.
"That girl who'd rather you stay in her bed, instead of mine." Cas sighed and moved so he straddled the other man.
"Nobody's after me, Dean. I promise." He didn't hear Dean's derisive snort as he leaned in for a kiss.
"You're right. Nobody is after you."
Dean used to love their endless drives, where one of them would pick a direction and the other would just start driving until they found a place they would be alone. Now they were just stressful- when Dean drove, Cas spent the entire time texting. When asked who, he would answer predictably-
"Nobody." When Cas drove, they always ended up going home early, and going to bed.
One night, Dean had enough.
"You know I can love you like Nobody can, right?" Dean asked as they changed into their pajamas.
"Of course, baby."
"Even better?"
"Even better." Cas agreed with a smirk. Dean watched Cas as he fell asleep, and spoke softly once he was sure the other was fully out.
"I'm losing you, aren't I? You're gonna leave me for her. But not yet. I've still got a little bit of time to reclaim you." Dean carefully brushed a stray lock of Cas's hair off his face. "You're still mine. If you don't wise up soon... I won't be second, Cas. I just won't."
