Chapter 12: Power

Tessa awoke in the middle of the night.

She sat up, half awake.

It was weird for her to wake up in the middle of the night.

Tessa felt as if she should go for a walk.

Derek was still asleep beside her.

Tessa quietly made her way down the stairs, and outside in the cool night.

Tessa still didn't know the whole forest by heart, but she was walking deeper and deeper through the forest as if she knew where to go.

"You finally came." Two wolves came closer to Tessa's view.

Tessa just stared at them, dazed.

"Let's go home." One of the werewolves said, and Tessa numbly followed.

"Cora! Wake up!" Derek busted his sister's door open.

"Mmm, ten more minutes." Cora mumbled.

"Tessa's gone!" Derek said.

Cora jumped up in bed, immediately awake, "What?"

Derek didn't repeat himself, he just left the house, hoping to pick up her scent.

There was no trace of her.

Tessa looked at her surroundings confused.

Surely she was just sleep-walking, but...She just woke up, didn't she?

She was following two male Alphas deeper and deeper into an unknown forest.

"Where am I?" Tessa asked.

"Someone has been waiting to meet you since you killed one of our own." One of them said.

Tessa began registering more and more, and she realized; these were the two Alphas who wanted her back in their pack... How did she follow them so willingly.

"Ah, you have decided to come. I have been waiting for months to meet you." A taller and older male come into view ahead.

The two male Alphas in front of Tessa calmly moved aside.

"You may go." The elder male said to them.

Tessa became more and more afraid of what was going on, how did she even get here?!

"There is no need to be afraid. Tessa." The tall Alpha said.

The Alpha was tall, almost old looking, and he had on sunglasses.

"What am I doing here? Who are you?" Tessa asked.

"I, am Deucalion, the true leader of the pack. Your birth pack. Come. You will understand everything. Why I called you here, why you're meant to be here. Let's talk in a more...Private location." Deucalion put a hand on Tessa's back, urging her forward to an underground cave.

Tessa didn't struggle, she knew she couldn't take him.

She followed him down into the darkness of the cave.

When they were in deep enough, Deucalion lit a candle, lighting a small portion of the place.

"It is always good to not get too much sunlight, hmm?" Deucalion said.

Tessa was astonished with the furniture that was there.

Who knew, someone could make a home in a cave.

"Please. Sit." Deucalion said.

Tessa hesitated, she hadn't forgotten where she was.

"Hmm, precautious are you? You are a very fascinating creature." Deucalion said, nearing close to her.

"What do you want with me?" Tessa asked in a shaking whisper as the elder male carefully placed his gloved hands against her cheeks, and circled, as if to feel something.

"I want what's best for you, Tessa." Deucalion said, his hands exploring her hair and neck now.

"What do you mean?" Tessa asked, her body trembling.

"My pack has treated you very poorly. Banishing you from here. They never knew your unique gift." Deucalion said.

"What gift? I don't want to be here anymore." Tessa said.

"Is it because of the person you call, Derek?" Deucalion asked.

"How do you know?" Tessa asked.

She was shocked and almost terrified that the Alpha was practically reading her thoughts.

"I know a mating bond when I smell it." Deucalion said, as he was now breathing against her marked neck.

"Just let me go. Please. I don't want anymore trouble." Tessa said.

"You don't know how powerful you are, do you?" Deucalion asked.

"What?" Tessa asked.

Deucalion then reached for his sunglasses that he had been wearing the whole time.

When his eyes were visible, Tessa immediately felt weak to the knees.

"You are an Alpha, yes?" Deucalion asked, his red eyes boring into her brown ones.

"Y-yes, but I don't want to be." Tessa said.

"Why not? Being an Alpha was your destiny. It is a gift, that not many wolves can get." Deucalion said.

"But...I don't want to. I'm with a new pack that actually cares about me." Tessa said.

"But do they see you as an Alpha? Let me see you, through a wolf's eyes." Deucalion stared down at her.

"I-I can't. I can't control my actions when this power comes out. Derek is trying to help me calm it." Tessa said.

"That is just it... Derek..." Deucalion said the name in a sneer, "Is over-powering you. He only believes to have one Alpha in a pack."

"No, he is doing what is right." Tessa said.

"Really? He is making you someone that you're not. He is taming you like a house pet. You need to be who you are. Now, transform." Deucalion said.

"I can't. It's not the full moon." Tessa said.

Deucalion smiled, "Derek isn't teaching you everything. He is teaching you only what he wants you to learn. Alphas can transform no matter what time. Just think about it and you will transform."

Tessa couldn't find a way out of this, she began to feel a little betrayed by Derek, according to Deucalion, she wasn't learning everything.

"That's it." Deucalion said as Tessa willfully changed her eye color to the same as his.

"I can't stay this way for long." Tessa said, her body trembling.

"Yes you can. You feel that adrenaline inside of you... That's your power." Deualion said.

"I can't control it." Tessa said, her began boiling again.

"Don't... You'll never learn to be an Alpha if you don't listen to your instincts." Deucalion said, which made Tessa stop trembling. "Yes, you know your instincts. Don't you?"

Tessa nodded, feeling more and more of her resistance vanishing.

"You don't have to fight who you are. It is nothing more than the power you have inside. How do you feel?" He asked.

"It feels...Good. What do I do now?" Tessa asked.

"Well, I will need you to do something for me, but first, I will train you." Deucalion said.

"Ok." Tessa said.

She didn't know what she was feeling, but the Alpha in her was really a gift, being transformed felt powering, she felt as if she could have the whole world at her heels.

Little did she know, that was exactly what Deucalion wanted from her...
