*Ch12*

The next time he woke, his mind and body felt ten times better. He still felt, dare he say it, somewhat 'fragile', but his mind was crystal clear compared to the sleep muddled haze he was under the last time. Due to his ridiculously comfortable state, seriously what did Kurama stuff his mattress with, he was kinda tempted to fall back asleep. Unfortunately, thanks to the insistent pressure in his bladder, that wasn't going to happen. When was the last time he went to the bathroom? Or showered for that matter?

Taking a brief glance around the room, he noticed for the first time since waking up that it was empty. There was a single spirit signature down stairs, but other than that nothing. Where were his two favorite crime fighting, demon duo? He vaguely recognized the energy down stair but couldn't put his finger on who's it was. It didn't feel threatening so he chose to ignore it for now. The pain in his bladder was getting worse.

Deciding to take his chances, Yusuke carefully moved the covers off and slowly sat up. The headache that resulted was painful, but manageable. When he finally managed to get both feet over the edge and firmly on the ground, he'll admit he probably should have called for help. He was panting to the point of wheezing, and the black spots in his vision were likely a bad thing. Definitely a sign that he needed help… To bad his pride wouldn't listen. So like the stubborn idiot he was, he continued. He managed to stand up and make it three steps before falling to his knees on the carpet. Exhausted to the point of almost passing out. Well that could have gone better.

His fall must have caused some form of commotion, cause as soon as his breathing calmed he heard foot steps outside the door. When the knob turned and opened, chocolate orbs met green panicked ones before calming upon seeing no danger.

"You're suppose to be in bed Yusuke." Kurama reprimanded, quickly dropped down to help his friend up.

"Bathroom." The detective practically whined. "I haven't gone in two weeks! Feels like my bladders going to explode!"

"I assure you that won't happen." Kurama laughed while picking him up and leading him to the restroom. Supporting most of the Tantei's weight.

"I'm honestly surprised I didn't go in my sleep." Yusuke mumbled.

"Well…. about that…"

"Oh god! Please tell me I didn't!" Having his teammate care for him was one thing, but potentially peeing in his bed….EMBARRASSING!

"No you didn't." The fox rushed to reassure.

Yusuke let out a sign of relief. Prematurely.

"But…." And you could definitely tell the bastard was doing his best not to laugh. "I did have to insert a certain… plant to halt specific natural urges…both for door one and door two, so to speak." At this point Yusuke was as red as the kitsune's hair. "It's a unique plant found in the deserts of Makia. Will drink anything it can, even…"

"Oh god, Shut Up! I Get it! Please just leave me near the stair case so I can throw myself down them a few hundred times!" Kurama wasn't even trying to hold back the laughter that sprang forth afterward. The prick! The worse part was he wasn't 100% positive if the fox was lying or not. Maybe he'd pee in his bed just for the hell of it.

Finally arriving at the bathroom, Yusuke presented his teammate with a glare before stumbling in, ALONE, and closed the door. He was determined to get through this without the kitsune OR any of his plants help!

"Are you sure you can make it on your own? I made sure to save a few seeds of that plant just in case." Kurama teased through the door.

A few choice curse words were his answer.

Managing to conceal his laughter with a small chuckle, the fox patiently waited for the other to be finished. Exiting the bathroom a minute later, the teen looked a little worse for wear but otherwise fine. The trip back to the room was made in silence. Yusuke because of embarrassment and Kurama lost in thought.

Upon entering, both demons looked over to the bed, noticing a third lying in it.

"Where were you?" Hiei asked.

"Bathroom." Kurama helpfully supplied.

"Hm." The koorime acknowledged. Watching as his mate transported their leader onto the bed. Being exceedingly gently so as not to harm their hopefully future mate by accident. "So you finally removed the plant then."

The 'muffled' curse that amplified the room was truly hilarious. Kurama burst out laughing, again, which caused the raven teen to spew forth more insulting curse words. Even Hiei had a tilt to his lips.

"Did neither one of you consider getting a….a…. pee tube thing!"

"A Catheter Yusuke. And it was, sort of. Just the plant version of it." The red head continued to laugh.

"Ugh, I hate you both so much." He groaned while covering his cherry face with a pillow.

Maybe he could smother himself back to sleep.

"Speaking of feelings, their's some things we need to discuss." Hiei pointedly looked toward Kurama for assistance.

"Agreed." The fox answered in a much more subdued tone.

Oh boy, this couldn't be good. Calling upon past experience, that tone meant serious business in Yusuke's life. What had he done this time?

"Yusuke, this past mission revealed some particulars that we strongly agree need to be discussed."

The detective interrupted, "If it's about the whole 'almost dying thing again', I'm really sorry I worried you both like that. I can't promise to stay out of trouble, cause duh, it's me were talking about here. But I can promise to be more carful in the future. I understand what it's like to be helpless, to not be able to do anything while your friends are in need…" Flashbacks of Kuwabara and Genkai flashed through his mind. The despair of knowing someone you care about is about to die, but unable to do anything about it was awful. And he'd done that to them, what, three times now? Yeah, he felt like shit.

"I'm happy you understand this Yusuke." The red head gently patted his knee in reassurance. "But the subject we really want to discuss is more along the lines of how we can prevent feeling 'helpless' in the future. Mainly by forming a…connection… were Hiei and myself will know if you are ever in danger or not. Whether it be mentally or physically."

Yusuke's eyes traveled to both demons in confusion, "You mean like before with the Jagan?"

"Something like that." Kurama hesitated, "But more permanent. Life long. This connection would enable the three of us to always know where the other is and whether or not they're in trouble. Giving us enough time to come to one another's aide. Essentially a telephone signal that never disconnects."

The teen still looked confused and skeptical but curiously asked, "Okay, so what do I have to do to form this connection?"

Hiei took over for this part, "Do you know what demon mating is Yusuke?" Blunt and to the point as always.

The blush spreading from his checks down to his neck proved the Detective had some inkling as to what it was, if only the bare minimum of knowledge. Hiei had a brief thought as to whether or not that blush went all the way down.

"Raizen….he…he explained a bit of it to me. Said it was a bond that was the human definition of marriage, but permanent. He also mentioned it was very serious business in demon culture, and you had to do…certain things…to form it." He was sure by this point, Yusuke's face was imitating the color of Kurama's hair.

"Correct, Detective. Mating between demons is considered sacred, a decision made with the utmost thought and care. Unlike the connection with my Jagan, this bond will never break and if one mate dies, the other will soon follow. Most demons consider it a weakness, however, those creatures are idiots. It's true mating has its drawbacks, but you gain much more in return. Strength, trust and companionship to list a few."

Yusuke stared at the both of them with a look of wonder and disbelief. He couldn't speak, it felt like a frog had decided it was a good idea to make a nest in the back of his throat with its many friends and siblings. All he could do was gape at the two demons with mixed feelings of confusion and shock. Were they saying what he thinks they were?

"Mates are for life and we demons live very long lives." Kurama added. "They pour strength into one another during battle and experience a trust so profound it causes you to submit in ways you never would've dreamed of to another being. That among other things is why mating in demon society is extremely rare."

Yusuke seemed to be absorbing this information in strides. Multiple emotions and expressions passing his face with such speed it was nearly impossible to tell what he was thinking.

"And you both…" He looked to the both of them with disbelieving eyes."You both feel these things for me?" The teen bit his lip and seemed to ponder what he thought before speaking. Hiei just want to message that plump, moist lip in-between his own. "Friendship, trust, strength…submission? I thought in order to form a mating bond with someone you had to feel…." Yusuke blushed at his own thoughts but couldn't seem to express himself in words. To embarrassed by the girly, romantic feeling.

"Love?" Kurama smiled.

Chocolate orbs gave a jerky nod, refusing to meet either demons eyes.

"I can't speak for Hiei, but yes Yusuke I love you. From the moment we met I knew you would be an essential part of my life. Despite knowing hardly anything about me, your kind heart saved my mothers life. Your bravery and determination kept me going even when our future was most bleak. And your mind, although ignorant and childish at times, saw the best in everyones hearts, even enemies like Hiei and myself. It's all those things and more I fell in love with." Kurama gently placed his hand on top of the teens. "I love you Yusuke Urameshi."

Yusuke's mouth was as dry as the Makia desert. He was absolutely floored by the kitsune's confession. If what he said was true, Kurama had been considering him as a mate for well over…four to six years now. Was this really happening?

"Why now?" The teen was shocked but mentally wondered why it took so long to tell him. So much pinning and heart ache could have been avoided if only he or the two demons had confessed sooner.

"I'm afraid that's mostly my fault." The koorime stated. "Kurama and I had only just begun courting when we met you. I'm not as great with words as Kurama, but I also won't lie. I saw you as a nuisance the first time we met, and after your confrontation with Kurama I saw you as a threat to our relationship. I could sense Kurama's growing interest and I was….jealous." Hiei looked away in shame, not proud to admit his own insecurities. "I'll admit it was one of the leading factors on why I took Keiko and used her against you with the Jagan. Forcing you to see what it was like having a loved one betray you." Kurama extended his other hand out and placed it on Hiei's, causing crimson eyes to meet emerald. A silent conversation was made until Hiei had a slight tilt to his lips and again met the Detectives eyes. "After the battle, Kurama and I had a little… 'talk'. I'm happy to say our mating happened closely after Maze Castle and I began to see what Kurama saw in you. My hate grew into respect and respect turned into interest and interest into love. After the dark tournament I was as much in love with you as I was my own mate. But still I turned away."

Yusuke was confused and a little hurt but listened on with rapt attention.

"You were human." Hiei answered. "Though this may sound vain, I couldn't ever mate a human knowing I would die with them in less then a hundred years. It's not enough time, I was selfish and wanted eternity." Hiei explained, practically begging Yusuke to understand with his eyes.

And the thing was, he did. Him and Keiko had practically broken up over the same reason. Though in his case he'd never thought about mating her, instead he didn't want her to grow old while he stayed young for another X amount of years. The thought was too painful. So yeah, he understood.

Nodding his understanding, Hiei continued with relief in his expression. "After the battle with Sensei, you became a demon. I was so over joyed that, if you recall, I laughed. Finally free of my doubts and heartache, mentally there was nothing holding us back from asking you right then and there. Unfortunately, with the changes in you, your heritage and the tournament, Kurama and I agreed it wasn't the right time. So we waited until now."

Moving his hand to join Kurama's on top of his knee, Yusuke held his breathe with Hiei's next statement. "I don't love you as a human does Yusuke. Humans use love to describe animals, things, personal belongings and objects. My feelings for you are more than those I hold for an item. In the human language there is no word at all to describe what I feel. However, in demon tongue their is one. 'Koi'. It means, beloved, my heart, my own, and my Mate. Our mate." Hiei looked back to Kurama with the most pure smile the detective has ever seen on the jaganshi's face. Kurama returned it with a soft look of his own.

"Holly Hell!" Yusuke exhaled. Not realizing he'd been holding his breathe for most that conversation. "Not great with words my ass!"

The other two broke their gaze to look at the teen with a smile. "It is a very fine ass so far as I've seen and I do have my moments." The koorime laughed, causing Yusuke to blush another deep red.

"I think he secretly has a hobby of writing sonnets when we're away." Kurama chuckled only to have crimson eyes glare at him. "So what do you say Yusuke?" The kitsune's voice turned serious but soft. "Would you be our mate?"

A definite hitch in his breath came through and his heartbeat increased passed the amount a demons would normally make. This was really happening. He would later be embarrassed by the (completely manly) squeak that passed his lips, but at the moment he was to elated to care.

"Yes." Is the only word that made it passed his paralyzed lips. Paralyzed until Kurama unexpectedly swoops in for the kiss of his life!

Hot, rough, passionate and wet. The kitsune kissed him like a starving man whose wanted water for centuries and is finally getting his first drop. He felt a soft hand tilting his head to the side to get a better taste. Dominating his mouth and pulling Yusuke under the haze of pure desire. He didn't ask for permission, instead, the fox thrust his tongue through eager lips and proceeded to ravage and claim the demon lord before him.

Yusuke will be the first to admit he doesn't have much experience in the sex department, so he happily let Kurama take the lead. Besides, with the way the kitsune had him moaning and panting he'd never be able to take control even if he wanted to. Those lips. God those lips!

Kurama then moved his other hand down the length of his chest, swallowing his moan of delight when his hand pushed up the fabric of his shirt to meet the bare skin of his belly. The fox then fondled his way up until he brushed across a nipple that had the detective cry out through muffled lips.

"Kurama." A low, rough voice interrupted. "Not yet, he's still healing and your mother is down stairs."

That made the kitsune pull back, and the teen whimper in dislike. The whine made him blush and cough to try and cover it up. But, judging by the twin looks of arousal on the others faces he didn't succeed.

"So that was the presence I felt earlier." He mumbled, doing his best not to pout and discreetly hide the tent in his pants. "Why is she here?"

"I told her an 'abbreviated version' of what happened to you and she volunteered to help cook meals." Kurama summarized.

"Probably for the best, nothing would stop us from mating you here and now if not for Kurama's mother."

"I don't see how that's a bad thing." Yusuke blushed with a pout definitely in place.

"Well for starters, you're still healing and mating requires A LOT of physical activity. Second, we can take the time to properly court you." Hiei stated.

Kurama nodded, "Agreed, I propose the minute you can escape this house on your own and stay out of our clutches for ten minutes, then you will be healthy enough to mate."

Yusuke is silent for a moment as he considered. "That sounds suspiciously like a mating hunt."

A seductive smile crept up Kurama's face as he answered. "You would be correct. And I believe Hiei would agree with me on wanting us to chase you for your submission."

The deep growl that rose from the koorime's throat was a definite yes.

The detective shivered. From what he could remember on the subject, a mating chase is where demons run after their chosen one to prove they are worthy of the position. If the demon caught them and the other submitted, their reward was the claiming of their intended mate.

"Hiei and I did the same thing when we became mates."

And that sent a new bolt of arousal through his gut. Just imagining it….god he wished he had been there.

"Who won?"

"Hiei did." Kurama chuckled. "For some reason he doesn't quite trust me in a forest element. I had to come to him."

"Gee I wonder why."

"Hm."

Anyway, until you have the strength to escape on your own, we'll court you. Sound like a plan?"

Yusuke wanted to protest at the word courting. He was ready now dammit, no courting necessary. But it seemed like something the two demons wanted so he simply obliged with a nod. Besides, it would only take a few days to recover….hopefully. Once he was on his feet he would run from them for ten minutes, no big deal. Easy peasy. Yeah right, who was he kidding. Even on a good day those two could catch him in seconds. Great, just great.

"Good." Kurama nodded. "Now I think we'll let you get some more sleep. You'll have to rest as much as you can if you want to out run the two of us." He winked. "We'll be here when you wake next, sweet dreams." Kurama leaned in to give him one last peck on the lips before getting up. Hiei followed him.

"What?" Yusuke smirked, "No good night kiss from you?"

Hiei turned and eyed the detectives prone form from head to foot. "If we kissed it wouldn't end their. Injured or not, I'd tie you to the bed post to keep you still and wanting without pain for hours."

The demon lords brain went off line then flat lined for a couple of seconds to process that information. He couldn't move or speak, he was frozen. It felt like his head might explode from all the blood that was rushing to it.

Hiei, the bastard, just smirked and waved as he closed the door, "I hope you have 'very' sweet dreams Yusuke."

The door was shut and he was alone.

'Holy shit!' His mind supplied while staring up at the ceiling. Their was no doubt in his mind that he would indeed have very, very sweet dreams tonight.

*Authors Note: Wow, that was a long chapter. I know I keep saying their will only be a few chapters left but I just keeping thinking about more and more ideas that just have to be put into writing! Anyway, the end is with in sight and next chapter will contain a small steamy lemon. So look forward to that. If you're not into Yaoi or threesomes or what ever… I strongly recommend you don't continue reading. Don't know why you'd be reading this in the first place when the summery notes clearly indicate that this a rated M story and with Hiei, Kurama and Yusuke as a couple… but who knows. I've been

surprised before. Anyway, hope you like this chapter as much as the next. Until then, TTFN!*
