Laxus's Pov

Bored.

Utterly, completely, bored.

I glanced up at the clock, it's been exactly one minute since I last looked at the clock. How entertaining. I sighed.

"What do I even do now?" I asked myself. I looked around the room. Nothing caught my interest. We've been here awhile and I haven't seen anything. Lucy has been out seeing the sights.

Realizing that I've been acting like a dead turtle, I got up and opened the door.

"Now starts my day of being out in the light!" I said. God I sound like an idiot.

I slowly made my way away from the apartment and towards where I thought the library might be.

After walking around for around an hour, I realized I was lost.

"This isn't even that big a town, dammit!" I mumbled angrily under my breath as I stomped on my way. I was about to turn around when something caught my eye. Multiple pillars of smoke were rising from an area not too far off. If this had been before I met Lucy I would've hardly looked twice, yet now I felt I needed to help. So I rushed off to where I saw it was coming from.

As I neared the area, I smelled the overpowering scent of blood and smoke. I cringed at this, but kept going. When I got to the center, there was no-one there, save for dead bodies. As I continued, I saw a golden color shine in the light. I hoped to god that it wasn't what I thought it was. Rushing over, my ideas were true. Laying there was the woman I loved, unconscious on the ground with burns all over her body.

I ran up to her. "Lucy?Lucy!Dammit I know you're okay! Just open your eyes and tell me you're fine!" I screamed at her. Now that I got a better look at her, I saw that most of her burns were minor. What struck me was a giant, festering, green burn that occupied half of her torso, the sickly color was spreading.

Poison?

"Dammit!"

I picked her up and rushed out of the carnage, desperately looking around for someone to help. I ran for a couple minutes, for the damaged area was large. Once I was out into the normal area of town, I saw what looked like thirty people gathered. A kid pointed at us.

"Look! The blonde lady who saved us!" He yelled. I set her down on the ground in front of them.

"Someone help her! Please!" I said anxiously, my voice filled with desperation. Many people started to run around at the commands of an elderly woman, she walked over.

"I'm the healer of the area. I'll look at her." she said, then she looked closely at Lucy. Her expression was grim as she began to clean her wound with something another woman brought her. I watched nervously from a few feet away.

It felt like an hour had passed, yet I knew it hadn't been long since the old woman started to help Lucy. I let my anxiety show clear on my face, frankly, I didn't give a damn right now.

The woman from earlier walked up after talking to the old woman, who I learned was named Freisia.

"We can't help her anymore. The poison has spread throughout her body. It's beyond our help now." she said sadly. I felt tears slide down my face.

"What?" I asked. I couldn't absorb what she just said. It couldn't be true, right? Lucy has gotten through so much! She can't die now!

The woman just looked at me sadly, nodded, and resumed her position by Freisia. I sunk to my knees.

"She won't die. . . . right?" I asked myself. I knew I was just in denial. I fucking knew it. Yet I can't accept this. She saved me from living like a friggin' sappy nomad! She was the only one who I could truly trust, who I truly cared for anymore. If she left. . . what would I do?

I knew people were looking at me with pity. I knew they all thought I had lost a lover. She was more than that to me though. She was my light. My friend.

My savior.

I sobbed to myself, no longer being able to take it. She's dying.

I heard a loud, questioning voice.

"Oi! What's happening here? WHo's dy- Oh shit!"
