A slender hand reached out for the phone alarming and vibrating wildly, at the top of the bedside table. Groggily, Ayako pressed the 'off' button on her smartphone.

"Aya?" Someone called out from outside her room. The said girl's head peeked out of the comforter and looked at the door with narrowed eyes.

"I'm up, Kyo-nii..." She responded, her voice was hoarse due to lack of usage throughout the night.

Reluctantly, Ayako sat up from her bed and rubbed off the sleep from her eyes. She changed out of her pajamas before heading to the common room where everyone was already gathered for breakfast.

"Mornin'," she greeted half-heartedly as she sat down on one of the unoccupied chairs.

So far, only a few of her siblings were present; Ukyo, who was still in the kitchen. Ema, who was helping out Ukyo. Yuusuke, who was sitting across Ayako and waiting for breakfast to be served, and lastly, Subaru and Iori who also have respective classes today.

"Aren't you excited to go to school, Aya?" Ukyo asked, as he set down a tray of plates filled with the food he cooked.

"Kind of. So-so, I guess..." A sigh couldn't help but escape her lips as she poked her food.

Ukyo sat on the chair beside her and lightly slapped her hand for playing with her food using her fork. The blue-haired girl pouted a little.

A chuckle suddenly erupted from the living room, and they saw Kaname heading towards them.

"Well, aren't you enthusiastic, Aya?" The girl rolled her eyes at Kaname's off-the-mark comment, before she continued to eat her breakfast.

"I'm not so sure about that, Kana-nii." Ayako stood up with an empty plate in one hand, while her chair scraped the wooden floor. She went in the kitchen and placed it on the sink.

"Anyway, I'm done. I'll be preparing for school now or else I'll be late." Ayako went upstairs, waving at her family without bothering to look at them.

When she finally left, everyone present in the dining room had inquisitive looks except for Ukyo and Kaname.

"By the way, did Aya say anything about where she enrolled, Kyo-nii?" Yusuke asked, finishing his breakfast shortly. He was already dressed in Hinode High school's standard uniform for males which is a gakuran.

"Hmm," The second eldest in the family hummed as he shrugged after gathering the empty plates and putting them in the sink.

"Kyo-nii, did she enroll in my school by any chance?" Iori inquired after a few moments.

He was still sitting down on his seat, despite one of the few people who finished eating earlier. He was curious if he would be able to spend the rest of his high school days with Ayako.

"It's a secret," Ukyo teased, grinning like a cheshire cat at his siblings. They were obviously intrigued about Ayako's choice of high school.

"If, somehow, there's a commotion at your school about a beautiful, new student, then Ayako had enrolled there." Kaname explained vaguely. Somehow, he got a hold of the information as to where the younger, blue-haired girl will be studying.

"Why don't the three of you go to your schools already?" Ukyo urged, jokingly shooing away Yusuke, Ema and Iori who looked confused, and at the same time, disappointed.

They wanted to know as soon as possible as to where Ayako would be attending high school. Yusuke knows she is smart, so he would be lucky if she attended Hinode High and is put in the same class as him. He would have an easier time when it comes to studying.

Like kicked puppies, the three of them trudged to the living room to get their bags and went off to their respective schools. They bade goodbye to their other siblings who were present, but it seemed as if they had whispered their goodbyes instead.

Ukyo and Kaname chuckled in amusement, while Subaru looked at the two of them weirdly, so he decided to pose a question for the two of them.

"Where is Aya going to attend school anyway?" He asked, still staring at his two older brothers who had knowing grins plastered on their faces.

"To Hinode High," the two blondes declared in unison.

Yusuke trudged along the corridors of the school lifelessly, his bag slung over one shoulder. Ema was beside him and even then, he still lacked energy.

"Are you okay, Yusuke-kun?" She heard him ask, but the red-haired male just sighed as a response.

He was excited to be Ayako's schoolmate if not her classmate. But it seems like he had gotten his hopes up for nothing. Ema just stared at him, concerned that he might be feeling under the weather which was unusual.

When they reached their classroom, they had proceeded to their respective seats without uttering any more words to each other, aside from the question Ema had asked earlier.

"Ema~" Someone cooed her name, and the brunette girl nearly crashed into her table when someone had put had nearly crushed her with a hug.

"Maho-chan," Ema turned her head to the side a bit and saw that it was actually her light-haired bestfriend.

"What happened to Asahina Fuuto's brother? He looks like a string of dead fish." Mahoko stated plainly, and loud enough for him to hear but the said male did not pay heed to her 'insult'.

Ema just looked at him worriedly, and thought, 'I wish I knew why.'

Suddenly, the sliding door to their classroom opened with a loud bang, startling everyone in the classroom. But Yusuke was still unmoving, and seemed like he was inspecting the skies outside the window.

"Hm? What is it?" Mahoko turned to their male classmate who somehow looked excited. The poor boy was still so out of breath though, that Ema and Mahoko feared for his life.

"T-There's... a new... girl," he struggled to say in between breaths.

"I saw her in the faculty just now when I helped out Kotobuki-sensei with some class materials!" He finishes, finally able to catch his breath.

Ema's eyes widened, and Yusuke immediately perked up at that announcement of their classmate.

"Is that true?" Yusuke stood up so suddenly, that his chair nearly crashed to the table behind him. He had a wide grin plastered on his face.

"Woah, down boy!" Mahoko called out, whistling playfully. Yusuke just threw a glare her way, but she just shrugged it off.

"Yusuke-kun, could it be..." Ema and Yusuke looked at each other, exchanging knowing glances.

"I think she'll be in this class. Our homeroom teacher is talking to her earlier." Their male classmate called Nakagawa, relayed what he had witnessed in the faculty room.

The bell signalled the start of the class, alerting all the students in the room as they took their respective seats and waited excitedly for the new addition to their class.

Soon, their homeroom teacher, Koyanagi, entered. She was a tall woman in her mid-twenties, and wears a pair of prescription glasses.

She looked at her students weirdly, wondering why all of them are so quiet right now. Koyanagi-sensei raised an eyebrow at that, before she cleared her throat.

"I guess someone had seen what went on in the faculty room earlier," she looked pointedly at Nakagawa, before she continued.

"We have a new transfer student from Osaka International School," the class immediately kicked up a fuss at the information provided to them.

"Isn't that a prestigious school in the Kansai region?"

"So she's an elite!"

"Why did she suddenly transferred anyway?"

"Do you think she got in trouble or something?"

"Or maybe her grades did not meet the standards of the school?"

"Shush now, kids. Let me finish." The students went quiet, and Koyanagi-sensei continued her introduction of their new classmate.

"She will be transferring here due to family circumstances. So, get along well with her, will you?" A chorus of 'yes' erupted from her class.

"Good," she smiled and looked towards the door. "You can enter now, Asahina Ayako-san."

Ayako strode inside the room confidently, and her long, blue hair swished back and forth as she did so.

"A pleasant day to everyone," she flashed a knowing smile in Yusuke and Ema's way.

"I'm Asahina Ayako, and I transferred from Osaka International School due to family circumstances. Please take good care of me from now on."

[A/N]: Hey guys! It's me, TheWhimsicalNoirette. Sorry if it's been ages since I last updated.

I know that this is only an extra chapter, but it is still part of the story. Don't worry.

Anyway, if anyone is wondering about the timeline of the omake, it's before the Asahina household went to the beach.

More chapters about Ayako's school-life will be revealed in future chapters, just after the 'beach vacation arc'.
