Chapter 13 will be coming out tomorrow. There will not be any updates March 14 - 16 as I'm at a conference.

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon, but I do own my characters

I walked through the halls of the Pokemon League building, drinking out of my thermos of Berry Juice. I still got some weird looks, but most of the staff had gotten used to seeing me around. It's been a week since my Purification, and the all of my scales had returned to their normal white color, except for a few rings on my arms where the purple scales remained. My parents' Purifications had both gone without a hitch, and they had returned to normal. Unlike me, they had the ability to switch between a human form and morph form. But, their morph forms were overall less powerful than me, so I guess we're even. I walked into Lance's office, closing the door behind me with my tail. "You rang?"

"Yeah, we need you to fill in for a teacher at one of the Pokemon Trainer schools today," Lance said, passing me an address and a lesson plan.

I looked questioningly at him. "You sure you want me doing it?"

"Out of all of you, you're the one who can do the best job. Unless you want Kaylee taking a crack at it." I shuddered at the thought. Kaylee was great, but teaching did not suit her.

"Ok, fair point, but I was more talking about why you want one of us to do it in the first place."

"The League tournaments are coming up, and we needed someone to take care of it. We're really low on manpower right now."

"You're not worried about the parents making a fuss about this?" I said, leafing through curriculum plan.

"I've already taken care of that. We let the parents and teachers know ahead of time. We had a few grumbles, but no major objections that we didn't address."

"Really? That's surprising. What were the objections?"

"The main ones were about your qualifications and the whole half-Pokemon thing."

Their objections weren't anything that I wasn't expecting. "When does class start?"

"In about 20 minutes." My eyes widened.

"Why didn't you call me in sooner?!" I shouted, packing the lesson plan into my backpack, along with the Berry Juice.

"You have a average flight speed of 30 miles per hour and you can teleport, I'm not worried." Lance replied.

"Good point. See ya!" I said, running down the hallways of the building. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and plugged in the address. I exited the Pokemon League building, spreading my wings and using them to lift me into the air. Ever since the Shadow incident, I've noticed an increase in my flight speed and stamina. "Must be aftereffects of the extra DNA." I thought to myself. I found myself a few minutes away from the school. As not to scare any of the local residents. I gently flew down, my feet touching the ground a few blocks away. I ran the rest of the way. I found someone waiting outside the school. "Hello, I assume you're Chase?" She wore a simple outfit.

"Yep. Kind of hard to miss me, isn't it." I said,

"My name is Sherry, although the students call me Mrs. Vale. Come on in, I'll introduce you to the class." She said, walking towards the school door. I used my telekinesis to open the door for her. "So, you really do have the abilities of a Lugia."

"I try not to get carried away with them, unlike some of my friends." I immediately thought of Kaylee, who used her portals constantly, even for the most miniscule distances.

"The class knows that I'm going to be gone today, and that they have a special substitute, but I haven't told them who it's going to be yet. You have some fans in class from the news bulletin a few days ago. Anyways, I really appreciate you coming out and helping on such short notice."

"Not at all, I'm happy to help however I can."

"You've read the lesson plan, right?"

"I've got it memorized." We stood in front of the classroom.

"Could you wait here for just a bit?"

"Of course."

I heard Mrs. Vale begin to introduce me, and then she called me in. "Chase, could you come in?"

"Sure." I said, walking in. I saw the kid's jaws drop as they realized who their substitute teacher was. "Hey everyone, my name's Chase and I'll be substituting for Mrs. Vale today."

"Everyone behave for Chase, okay? I'm off now!" Mrs. Vale said, before closing the door. As soon as the door closed, the class immediately erupted into a flurry of questions aimed at me.

"I can't answer any questions that I can't hear!" I struggled to yell over the class. The class immediately went completely quiet. ""Alright, I'll make all of you a deal." I began drawing an empty type-advantage chart behind me with some telekinesis. "You've been learning about type effectiveness, right? Let's test what you know. I'll answer one question from each of you once you can correctly tell me whether a particular attack type is super-effective, not very effective, normally effective or immune against a defending Pokemon. Does that seem fair to all of you?" The class nodded. "Everyone who has a question raise your hand." Everyone's hands immediately shot up in the air, some shaking furiously in the air in an attempt to get called first. "We'll start with … you." I said, pointing to a girl at the end of the front row. "What's a type that is weak to a Dark-type move?"

The girl immediately replied, "Psychic!" I marked the square

"Correct, now you can ask your question."

"Can you fly?" She asked. I unfurled my wings slowly making sure that I didn't accidentally set off a gale.

"Yup, although I'm not the fastest of my friends. We'll go from left to right all the way back. Okay? Type that's weak to Fire?"

"Grass! What's your favorite move?" The kid asked.

"That's a tough one, but I'd probably say a tie between Hydro Pump, Psychic, and Aeroblast. All of them are just too fun to use! What's a type that is strong against a Dragon type?"

"Ice! Is it weird being half-Pokemon?"

"It was at first, but I got used to it. My main problem was forgetting that I had a tail, and repeatedly tripping over it. In fact, when I first woke up like this, I got up and immediately fell right on my face." I saw the majority of the class giggling out of the corner of my eye, with some trying not to show it and some being much more obvious about it. "I'm half-Legendary Pokemon, and yet I still manage to trip over my tail or run into a wall because I was thinking about something. Alright, next question." Our little game continued as the majority of questions asked of me were stuff like, "What's your favorite food?" or "Can you breathe underwater?" On my last question, however, the question was slightly different than the rest. "Do you ever wish you could be human again?" The kid asking this was a small kid in the back of the class, with a nameplate that read Kyle. He said it with a seriousness that I didn't fully anticipate. Unlike the rest of the class, his aura felt more mature than I was expecting.

"I would be lying if I said that I never wished that I could be human again." I said. Some of the kid's faces quickly began to turn very sad. "But, I also believe that, in life, you play with the hand you're dealt. I'm a half-Lugia, so I use my abilities the best I can." I said, whirling up a little ball of wind in my hand, before letting it disperse, as the class looked on in amazement. "Alright, now that we've all discussed the different type avantages, we have to take a quick test." I pulled the tests out from the desk and passed them out to the students. "You may begin whenever you're ready." I said, pulling out my phone to check the time, while also keeping an eye on all the student's auras, just in case. "I shouldn't have to remind you, but no cheating is allowed. Trust me, you're not going to sneak anything past me." I said, off hand.

20 minutes later, everyone had finished their test. The bell rang, and I expected the class to rush outside. Instead, they all just sat at their desks. "Someone want to explain to me why no one is leaving for lunch?"

Kyle replied, "Everyone wants to ask you more questions."

I sighed, "Of course everyone does." I couldn't blame them, this was still weird and crazy for me, and I was living it. I checked the time. I had about 10 minutes before Mrs. Vale came back. "Why don't we go outside, and I can show you some of my abilities." I said, walking towards the door. "Get your … oh." Every kid was lined up behind me, with lunch in hand already talking to each other. "Kids." I thought, walking outside. There was a play area behind the school. "Now, class, I need you to give me a little distance. I spread my wings out to their full reach and used them to lift off the ground. I decided to give my students a little air show using the winds. I started by creating an updraft that I caught with my wings, sending me soaring into the sky. I looped through the air, gathering the water in the atmosphere around me and causing it to spiral around me. I dove towards the ground and landed, a plume of water erupting from my feet. After all of the seriousness of the last few days, it felt nice to show off a little and just enjoy my abilities.

"That was ... so cool!" I heard Mrs. Vale say behind me, her fist in the air. She quickly realized where she was and corrected, "Err, that was quite the impressive display. Well, everyone did you enjoy your time with Chase?"

Her question was answered by a resounding "Yes!" that immediately made me smile. "I'll be back out in a second, class. Chase, could you come with me?"

"Yeah. no problem." I said, returning the water back into the ground. "See you another time!"

I returned to the classroom, where Mrs. Vale was waiting for me. "I appreciate you filling in for me. I've never seen the kids this excited about anything before."

"Like I said, I do what I can. I can stay a few more minutes and grade these tests for you if you want."

"Sure, if you want to."

"I want to see how well they did." I sat down and began grading the tests.

"It's amazing how well you've accepted being like that. If that happened to me, I would have freaked out for a long time."

"Having parents that accepted the whole half-Lugia part helped. I still think of how strange it is, but I've come to accept it as just a part of me. I had to literally fight the embodiment of all my fears to do it though." I said, nonchalantly.

She laughed, "That's kind of funny."

"It happened, though," I said, in response, finishing up the last of the tests.

"How was it?" She asked, curious.

"Soul-crushingly hard," I said, handing her the tests. "Thank you for the opportunity to teach them. Also, keep an eye on Kyle, the kid's smart."

"I will, thank you." I waved goodbye and walked out the door.

I decided to walk home, seeing as it was a nice day outside. A few minutes later, I heard someone yell at me, "Get out of our town, you freak!" He sounded like he just got out of college. "Well, there goes my good mood." I thought to myself. I decided to ignore them. After writing so many Pokemorph stories, I knew that retaliation in this situation made everything worse. I just kept on walking, checking my phone for any messages from the rest of the group. "Did you hear me, you freak, I said get out!"

I put my phone in my pocket, sighed and responded. "Yes, I heard you the first time. I'm just walking home now. I was subbing for a teacher around here." I said, turning back around and continuing to walk home.

"They let you teach here too? What's become of the Pokemon League to hire someone like you? Listen, no one wants you here, so leave!"

"Like I said, I'm just walking home." I said. I heard him run up to me, fist cocked back. I sighed and just as he was about to hit me, teleported a few feet forward. "If you try and hit me, it's going to hurt you a lot more than it's going to hurt me."

"You mean, you're going to attack me if I attack you?! That's low!" He said, still charging after me.

"No, I have scales, and it's going to hurt really badly if you hit them." I said, waving my arm, showing my scales. I came up to an intersection and pressed the button, waiting for the walk signal. With nowhere to go, I was forced to dodge his punches. Fortunately, it seemed like the man didn't have any martial arts skills, so it wasn't terribly difficult. The light turned green and I began to walk across the street. I was close to being on the curb, before I heard some police sirens, and a car going very fast. I turned around and saw the car racing down the street. At that speed it was going to hit the man chasing me! "Look out!" Quickly, I turned around and tackled him to the ground, getting him out of the way of the car. "Sorry about that!" I said, quickly getting up. I took to the skies going as fast as I possibly could. I saw the car headed for another intersection, and it was once again going to run a red light. I dove down towards the intersection, hoping I could make it there in time. I landed and immediately began focusing on the car, trying to slow the car with my telekinesis. "Please let this be enough!" I thought to myself. The car slowed to a halt. but I could feel the resistance I felt multiple auras behind me. I turned around. "I'm holding off this for as long as I can, but I'm not sure how long I can make it last! Cross as fast as you can!" The people and Pokemon looked at me in shock. "Go!" I yelled. It seemed like they like they got the message as they quickly crossed. Suddenly, I felt the resistance stop.

One of the criminals yelled. "Go, Tyrantrum! Knock him out with Head Smash!" He tossed out a Pokeball, and the dinosaur-like Pokemon emerged in a flash of light.

"You're my opponent? Piece of cake!" The Tyrantrum roared as it's body became enveloped with a blue light. It charged, its head aimed right at me. I charged one of my miniature Aeroblasts in my hand. Right as it was about to hit me, I slid under the charging Pokemon and hit it with an Aeroblast-enhanced palm strike. The Tyrantrum soared over my head. The Despot Pokemon yelled, "That hurt, you little runt!"

"I'm only a foot and half shorter than you!" I yelled back.

"I don't care! Eat this, you little twerp!" The Tyrantrum's lunged for me, jaws outstretched. I teleported directly above the Tyrantrum.

"Hydro Pump!" I yelled, blasting the Tyrantrum point blank with the high-pressure water, sending his head directly into the cement. I made sure not to pressurize the water too much, so the Tyrantrum was okay; just unconscious. I saw the criminals trying to sneak off. "Really, you think you're just going to get away? As if." I lifted them in the air a few feet using my telekinesis, making sure not to actually hurt them.

The police cars pulled up. Officer Jenny came out of the car "Freeze, bank robbers. Don't .. move?" She looked very confused. "Who are you?"

"My name's Chase. I was in the area, so I thought I might help."

"Oh, I remember! You're one of those half-Pokemon kids from the news. Do you mind coming down to the station, just as a witness?" Jenny asked.

"Sure, I'm off work right now. Mind if I let my parents know real quick?"

"Yeah, sure." I reached out telepathically to my Mom and Dad. "Hey, I'll be late getting back home. I got caught up in a bank robbery."

"Alright, just make sure you're back for dinner." My mom answered

"Whenever you're ready." The process was pretty simple, but it took a little while. When I left, a familiar face was outside the station.

"Why did you save me?" It was the man who had tried to attack me before.

"Because if I didn't, you'd probably be dead right now?" I said, questioningly. "I'm not petty enough to let someone die because they called me a freak." He still looked very serious. "Listen, I get that I'm not normal. I remember that every time I use one of my abilities. But, just because I'm half-Lugia doesn't mean I'm not human either. It still hurts to be called a freak, you know."

"Sorry about that." He apologized. "You know I'm not going to be the only one to say something like that, you know. I've heard some rumors floating around, and there are some people who say that they'll shoot you on sight." He quickly corrected, "I-I'm not one of those people, it's just …" He paused. "One of you could destroy an entire town if you wanted to."

I facepalmed. "No, we couldn't. For starters, half-Lugia means half power more or less. Yes, that's still powerful, but any Pokemon that's half as powerful as a Lugia has the same power as me. In fact, if that's your worry, shouldn't you be more worried about actual Pokemon, rather than worrying about what I can do?"

"You … have a point."

"Also, why would I want to destroy an entire town? I'm half-Pokemon, not half demon or something." I said. "If someone calls me a freak, there are three general reasons that they would do so.. First, they're scared of me, which I can understand to a degree. Second, they think I'm an actual monster, which doesn't make sense. I have Lugia DNA, but the only thing that's changed in terms of my personality is that I just instinctively protect people from danger." I thought for a second, "That, and I really love the taste of fish now, when I used to absolutely hate it before."

"Makes sense. What's the third?" He looked interested now.

A smirk came over my face, "The third is that they're just jealous."

"J-Jealous?" He said.

"Just kidding," I said, a smile on my face "It's because we represent change. It's human nature to resist change."

He looked deep in thought."Change, huh?"

I checked the time on my phone. "Crap, I'm late for dinner! Sorry, I have to go!" I said, dashing off. A few blocks later, I felt a scaled hand grab me from behind. I panicked for a second, before realizing who it was as they threw me through one of Kaylee's portals. "Geez, Mom! Was that really necessary?" My mom was in her half-form and she did not look happy.

"Yes, because you're late, and the food is getting cold!" Everyone else in the group was already sitting at the table, and the rest of the morphs were glaring at me. Since we had gathered all of the families together to prevent any kidnappings from happening again, we got in the habit of having dinner all together.

"Alright, alright, I got it." I pulled up a chair, threading my tail through the opening in the back. "Sorry for making everyone wait," I said. Today's dinner, at least for my family, seemed to be fried fish.

"Anything interesting happen with the rest of you?" I said, cutting off a section of the fried halibut.

"I trained for the most of the day," Rick answered. "Lance showed me this technique for increasing my accuracy with my attacks."

"I'll spar with you tonight if you want. If you're getting faster with your attacks, I need to step up my game too." I said.

"Just going to remind everyone that the Pokemon League is going to have a press conference, and that they've asked at least some of us to be there." My mom said. She had returned the majority of her body to a human form, but I could see a few scales here and there on her hand. I gave her a quick heads-up, and the scales quickly returned to normal human skin. "Lucky." I thought.

"You could have asked if it was possible." My mom told me.

"It seemed too desperate at the time."

"I asked for you." My dad chimed in.

"And?"

"Mrs. Monroe said she'll look into it, but not to get your hopes up."

"Are you three going to keep having that conversation in private, or are you going to talk to rest of us non-psychics," Kaylee said, very obviously annoyed.

I broke off my link. "How could you tell?"

"Your tail starts waving whenever you use telepathy." In response, I grabbed my tail and forced it down to the ground, eliciting some giggles from my younger brother.

"We were just talking about the 2nd generation Pokemorphs thing that Mrs. Monroe created."

"Isn't that just you, Emily, and your parents?" Jake said.

"I see what you did there!" Tyler yelled out, before taking another bite out of his dinner.

"Good reference, but you know what I'm talking about."

"I thought you were okay with being like this?" Gary's mom asked.

"I am, but being able to switch between this and a human form would be a bonus," I said. Just then, the doorbell rang. My mom got out of her chair and went over to answer the door. I did a quick aura check to make sure that everything was okay. I recognized the aura immediately. "The aura's not hostile!" I shouted to her.

"Yeah, I know! Oh, Lance! How are you?"

"I'm doing fine, thank you! I hope I'm not disturbing anything." The Dragon-tamer said.

"Oh, no, don't worry about it. We're just having dinner." My mom said.

"Unfortunately, we have a little bit of a problem on our hands," Lance said. "We've gotten word from some of our International Police associates that there may be an attack on the press conference tomorrow."

"If that's the case, shouldn't we call it off?" I said.

"Normally, I would agree, but it could seem like we're trying to hide you. So, unfortunately, that's not an option."

"If they show up, let's just kick their asses into next Sunday," Kaylee said.

"You can't go crazy, though," Lance said, giving glares to Gary and Kaylee in particular.

"That was just one time," Gary muttered under his breath.

"We feel like we've trained you enough so that you can do this without too much trouble," Lance said. "We'll be on standby, but I think that we won't need to do much. Just please make sure no one gets hurt."

"Ok. Sounds good." I said.

"Well, that's all I wanted to mention," Lance said. "Please continue with your dinner," He said, leaving

"Alright, who's going to volunteer to-oh." My mom stopped mid-sentence as the rest of the morphs had already left the table entirely.

"I don't mind," I said. "Everyone finished with their dinner?" Everyone nodded and began going around the table, picking up plates as I went.

"I'm surprised you're not using your telekinesis right now." Ricky's dad said.

"I try to only use my powers when I need to, so if I ever lose them for some reason, I'm not entirely crippled. That's the reason I've been practicing with Lucario." I said, placing all of the dishes and began scrubbing the dishes one by one. I finished, putting all of them in the dishwasher. "I'll be upstairs thinking about the best way to answer any questions that come my way. Eventually, some legal problems are going to come into play regarding Morphs like us, and public opinion is going to determine the outcome of that battle." I said, walking upstairs. I heard my mom's voice in my head. "You don't need to take on that if you don't want too, you know. You're still just 16 years old."

"Whether I'm 16 or 60, I want to make sure that when the day comes, Pokemorphs are able to coexist peacefully with the rest of the world. If I can create a path to that coexistence, any amount of work is worth it."

We'll see how Chase does in the next chapter!
