A/N: I AM SO SORRY m(_ _)m We were actually moving and so a lot of our time was taken up due to cleaning the house ;-; (we have a really big house) and I didn't get to see my iPod for about 3 weeks. Needless to say, after 3 weeks of not seeing the story, I completely forgot half of what I wanted to do for this chapter. And then it went through the washer... and I forgot what I wanted after I forgot the first time... Oh god I really am sorry.
I do not own Vocaloid.
(Honne Dell POV)
I was taking my usual jog around the neighborhood listening to some music when I stumble upon Kiyoteru-sensei and a little girl. Scary as it sounds, he lives in the same neighborhood as me. It's not all bad. As long as I don't disturb him, he doesn't disturb me or anyone else who follows that rule. I took out my earphones and bowed when I ended up in front of him.
"Good morning Kiyoteru-sensei." I told him. "Good morning Honne-san. Out for a jog this morning?" He replied, bowing as well.
"Ah, yes." I told him. When I straightened back up I couldn't help but stare at the little girl trying to hide behind sensei. Kiyoteru-sensei could sense my curiosity. Then again, who wouldn't be curious to see someone new around?
"Come out Yuki. He won't bite you. I promise." The little girl slowly came out from behind Kiyoteru-sensei.
She was cute in a little kid way. Her hair was tied into two low pigtails that went down to her mid-back and her eyes were a chocolate brown color. She couldn't have looked older than 9.
"Dell, this is my niece, Kaai Yuki. Yuki, this is one of my students, Honne Dell. Say hello now." The little girl gripped the hem of her red school dress and bowed.
"I-It's nice to meet you! I'm Y-Yuki!" She nervously told me. I smiled and bent down on my knees to get to her height.
"It's nice to meet you Yuki. I'm Dell." I told her quietly as I ruffled her hair. She became less tense and gave me a small smile. "Hello! Is it okay if I call you Dell onii-san?" Big brother Dell huh? "That's fine. Ok, Yuki?" I told her with a smile. I've never been called big brother since I'm an only child. It's a nice feeling, you know?
"I'm sorry to leave but I have to get going." I told Kiyoteru-sensei, getting up from my position on the ground. He nodded and bid me farewell. Yuki gave me a hug and told me good-bye too. I waved good-bye and continued on my jog, putting my headphones back on in the process.
I had a feeling I would probably meet her again. That girl Yuki.
(Sakane Meito POV)
"How did things go?" Kamui asked me. I slumped in back in my chair as a response. "I didn't recognize the kid, so he must be new. Even now Crypton would still tell me who's in their branches since I'm the principal and all of one of their scouting areas. I don't know what's going on with them anymore." I slapped my hand onto my face and let it slowly slide down.
After telling about the whole ordeal I felt a new rush of exhaustion and slumped even lower in my chair. It was hectic enough that the kids were my canidates for this year. I didn't want to pick them but I knew how much they wanted to debut. Plus, they were the one of the best candidates for music I've seen in a long while. After all, you practically had to be a genius to get recognized.
Kamui just stood there. If we were just starting to work with each other you would have thought that he didn't care about the whole situation. But we've been working together for a while and I could tell he was worried.
We were both connected to Krypton in a way unlike most people. What connection? You'll see later.
"It would probably be best if we waited to see their reactions once the Winter dance comes." He told me. I looked at the calendar and it showed that there was about 3 weeks left until that date.
"We should go home and rest Mr. Sakane." Kamui suggested and I finally took a look at the clock. Is it really that late? We've been here almost the whole day already!
"Ah! Thank you Kamui for reminding me. You can go home now if you want to." I told him, starting to clear up some papers that were on my desk. After helping me clean up some more, Kamui bowed and told me he was going to leave. "Yes, thanks for your work." I told him. "Sorry to keep you so long." We bowed to each other and he left, leaving me alone in my office.
I slumped back into my chair and stared at the ceiling. Quite a bit of stuff happened today. The problem is, with their talet and ability, they could probably debut. I guess that's a good thing. After all, they're really psyched about it. Well, I guess I could give them some support.
Just, hopefully, nothing goes too wrong.
Well, better finish up these papers. I don't want any homework, now do I?
(Akita Nero POV)
I quietly walked to school, browsing through stuff on my phone. My house was pretty close by, so I walked.
My mind kept wandering back to what the principal said about us writing our own song. It'd be nice you know? Pretty cool. But writing a song is pretty hard. Have you ever tried writing a song? I don't know about you, but it's pretty hard.
At lunch, all of us sat in Prima-sensei's room and ended up deciding to try and write a song. "If we're going to write a song," Rin said, pulling out some paper and writing utensils, "we should come up with a theme for it. Does anyone have any ideas of what a theme could be?"
Everyone started growing out ideas and Rin wrote them down, occasionally throwing in a few ideas of her own. After about 5 minutes, we decided to narrow down our choices using votes. It eventually narrowed down to family and happiness. We wanted to do Christmas or holidays but not everyone celebrates the same thing and we didn't want people to feel weird and left out.
"Why don't we have the girls write a song for one theme and the boys write a song for the other?" Dell suggested. Nobody disagreed to it so we decided to draw sticks to decide who wrote for each theme.
"Looks like girls got happiness and the guys got family!" Miki jumped up and down around everyone. Why is she always so hyper and full of energy? Oh well. I guess it's just who she is.
"We should get started right away!" Rin said with determination firing in her eyes. This chick really loves music. But then again, so do the rest of us.
"Well you kids need to get ready for your next class. Lunch's gonna over in 5 minutes." Prima-sensei told us as she walked (coughdancedcough) into the room. We all got our stuff together and waited for the bell to ring.
"Should we work separately when writing the songs?" Mikuo asked everyone. "What good would that do us?" I asked him. He just shrugged and said, "I just thought it'd be cool if we could surprise each other with the song we made up. What'dya think?" It makes sense in a way. "Let's take a vote then." Ted spoke up. Strange, he never talks that often unless he's with just the guys. He must be warming up to the girls. That's good I guess since I'm in the same boat as him.
The vote ended with more people voting to work separately so we decided to work in different areas during lunch and after school in a room. The girls took Luka-sensei's room and the guys got to work in Prima-sensei's room.
The bell rang and we parted to our separate classes. Some of us had classes together so nobody was alone. You know how awkward it always is to walk to your class alone. At least as long as no one is absent then we most likely won't have to think about that.
(Utatane Piko)
After working on the song for about a week, we more or less had a song written. We went to show it to Luka-sensei. After looking over the lyrics she said they were pretty good and then asked us to perform it after school in the 'hangout' as we liked to call the new band room.
"How're you doing Piko?" Miki came up and scared me from behind in the hallway after school. "P-Please don't do that." I told her while trying to recover from the scare. "Awww, you're scared easily?" She smiled and teased. I looked down blushing slightly.
"So what if I am?" I asked quietly. "Nothing's wrong with being scared at something. Everyone has to be afraid of something!" She told me as she skipped off down the hall. "Well I have to go! Bye Piko! Sorry for scaring you by the way." She said stopping to look behind her once before taking off again.
Sighing, I walked to the hangout where all the other guys were waiting. "Yo Piko! Why're you late? Get stopped by some fangirls on the way?" Gumo waved and asked me. Shaking my head I told him "No. I just met Miki on the way over here. She ended up scaring me then apologized and left."
I'm happy it was Miki though instead of fangirls. I-I'm not saying I like Miki or anything. I'm just saying she's easier to handle compared to the fangirls. "Why're you so jumpy then?" Rei came up and poked me. Being me I ended up jumping and moved away from him. "I mean, you're jumpier than usual that's for sure."
"I-I-I guess I'm just nervous is all. After all, Luka-sensei asked us to perform what we have after all." I stuttered, hiding behind Ted since he's the only one who didn't take part in poking me.
"And I hope you're ready for that." Luka-sensei said as she walked into the room. After warming up we performed for her. For special reasons we won't tell you the song just yet, but you'll be able to see it soon.
Luka-sensei looked impressed. "That's pretty good. But there are some things you could change maybe to make it better." She told us, writing down a few notes as well. After pointing out a few things we refined the song (hopefully) and practiced a bit more. Maybe for an hour? That sounds about right. After an hour or so, everyone decided to head back.
We practiced a little everyday until the dance came up. During that time, we didn't hang out with the girls unless it was to take a break during lunch. Soon, it was just a few days left until the dance. The principal called us in to rehearse what was to happen as well as the order of songs to play. It was decided that for the first 3 songs we wouldn't show our faces just so the principal could see how the students would react. Apparently, it had been a few years since the school had an actual band play. They just played songs over the speakers and no one really questioned it.
We rehearsed for the next two days and then the day of the dance came. Immediately after the last bell rang we left to the hangout. When we got there the principal and vice principal were already there and waiting for us. "Prima and Luka will come soon." Principal Meito told us, handing us the outfits we decided to wear and ushering us into two different rooms behind the stage. Earlier this week the girls went shopping with Luka-sensei and Prima-sensei while we went with Prinipal Meito and Mr. Kamui.
After getting dressed, I headed out to wait for the others. When I opened the door I saw that Miki and Teto were already finished changing. "You two look really nice." I told them. And I wasn't lying. Teto was wearing a v-neck dress with mid-length sleeves that flared out at the bottoms. It was a light red color at the bottom and eventually faded to white as it went up and reached a little bit above her knees. She wore white ballet flats with a small rose on them. Her hair was in its usual twindrills but she had light red ribbons tying them.
Miki had on a light pink colored dress with short sleeves with a white and pink polka-dot bow on the side of the waist. She wore shiny, white sandles and a headband that was almost a transparent pink color.
"Thanks!" Miki chirped with a huge smile on her face. "The others are dressed in a similar fashion too. And you look pretty spiffy yourself." She gave a thumbs up to all the guys that were out-which was a little more than half of us. We were just waiting for Mikuo, Ted, Len, and Rei. The guys were wearing tuxes but in different styles. Guys can't dress up as much as the girls though.
Soon, the remaining members came out and we went to see Principal Meito and Luka-sensei.
"Well don't you guys look dashing." Prima-sensei told us as she passed us. "Thanks Prima-sensei! Will you be at the ball later?" Rin stopped and asked her. After nodding her head 'yes,' we parted ways in the hallway. (That makes it sound like we're parting for a journey not a concert)
"Are you guys ready?" Principal Meito asked us nervously when we saw him. I can see why he was nervous but not why he seemed more nervous than we were.
"Of course we are! We've been waiting for this since the beginning." Gumo said with a grin, jumping wrapping and arm around Ted and me in a friendly manner. "Ready to go guys?" His question was directed towards all of us and we had different ways to say yes, be it nodding, grinning, or just saying it.
After getting in position, we started on the songs we were planned to play. Our first song was Party in the USA by Miley. The girls sang this as the guys sit out.
After that the guys sang (I know it's corny but bear with me) the Boys are Back from High School Musical. Please don't ask me what movie. I didn't watch them. There were a few songs after that in which everyone sang together. Actually, the next song was going to be the first song we sang in front of everyone so they could see us. During the breaks you could hear them talking about us like 'Is it a real band this year?' or 'It doesn't sound like the recordings' and it made me a bit nervous. Did they like us? Hate us? Think we're bad. As I started freaking out I felt the warmth of a hand on my shoulder and looked up. It was Haku.
"Don't be afraid." She said. "We're getting through this together." Dell popped in. My shoulders relaxed. I never knew they were that tense until now.
"Students attending the dance. We have seen and heard many of you whispering about the music for this." Principal Meito's voice boomed over the intercom. "To answer your question: Yes. We do had a real band this year and you're about to meet them."
As if on cue the curtains started to rise and we stared into the faces of all our peers' faces.
Boy, were they in shock. Still, a few had cracked a smile and soon the whole gym was vibrating from the sound of cheering.
"Say hello to Vocaloid, your band for this evening."
