A/N: Another one shot! Here you go everyone! I'm not as busy now and finally, I can type something up. Yes, this chapter is sappy because I feel up for it and yes, I used the damn Twilight song because…well, there's no other song that can work for this.

Takes place when Kris's in the Drug Unit and guess whose back for this one

A Thousand Years

Maura's POV

"William, stop running around the house," I scolded as I watched Liam run around the house once more. I heard the door being knocked once more and I shouted, "I'm coming! One moment please!"

Aly appeared giggling and I noticed that she was covered in white powder. I sighed and looked over at Jane who was still in the kitchen and I noticed that she covered in white powder also. She smiled sheepishly at me as she stated, "She wanted to help."

"You're cleaning her up then, Jane Clementine Rizzoli-Isles."

I then heard a loud crash, which made me cringe. Jane's eyes widened as she gestured that she would check it out while I went to the front door. I combed my hand through my hair as I sighed at the craziness that was my family life but I wouldn't give it up for any reason. I opened the door and looked up with a surprise look.

"Hey Doctor Isles," Aaron greeted with a small smile.

I regained my composure as I greeted back, "Aaron, it's been a while. How are you?"

"I'm well." He looked well and he looked older than the boy that Kris knew back when she was eighteen. It had been four years since they broke up but now curiously, I wondered why he was back in town. He fidgeted under my gaze as he looked over my shoulder and asked, "Do you know where Kris is by chance?"

"Um…well…"

"Mommy, who's that," I heard Aly inquired.

Aaron gave a surprise look as I lifted Aly up in my arms even though powder covered her little face. "This is a friend of Kris', baby girl," I explained quietly.

Aaron smiled, "Hi."

Aly shyly waved back before she turned her head, "Do you know if Kris or Gabby is coming today?"

"Gabby," Aaron raised an eyebrow.

"Baby girl, how about you go see what Liam and Mama are doing," I suggested as I placed her down.

Aly pouted but mumbled, "Okay."

She then ran off upstairs while I brought my attention back to Aaron. I stepped outside, closing the door behind me as he asked awkwardly, "Um…that's your daughter?"

I nodded, "Yes and her twin brother are with Jane. But you're looking for Kris?"

"Yeah. She's not living here anymore?"

"She hasn't been living here for about two years now."

"Oh well, do you think she'll be at Headquarters still if she's still working there?"

I nodded, "She's a detective in the Drug Unit but I believe that she's busy and I know she won't want me to give her address around."

"I'm an old friend."

I bit my lower lip as I twisted my wedding ring. I knew Aaron was a close friend but the problem was that he was also Kris' ex-boyfriend. It made things more complicated than ever especially that his main purpose might be to seek Kris and get back together after so long. "Listen, drop by Headquarters and just hang out at the café for a bit. Kris drops by at least once a day for a cup of coffee," I suggested.

He nodded, "It's good to see you, Doctor Isles."

"You too, Aaron." Suddenly I heard another crash causing me to close my eyes. "I better go back inside," I informed him. He waved goodbye and I walked back inside the house, closing the door before I took in a deep breath, preparing for what might have happened inside my house.

I turned around and immediately, I noticed Aly more covered in powder as well as Jane then I noticed that on the kitchen counter were shattered pieces of what looked like a vase. I looked over to see Liam sitting in the corner with his arms crossed as I asked Jane softly, "Please tell me that it's not the expensive one at least?"

"Well…" Jane started.

"I can't leave you alone for two minutes."

"I'm trying to fix it."

I rolled my eyes as I informed her, "I'll get the super glue."

"Mommy, can I help," I heard Aly asked.

"No sweetie. I think you need to take a bath, which your Mama can handle while Liam continues his time out. Afterwards, Liam is not allowed to have dessert tomorrow."

Liam pouted, "But Mommy…"

"William," Jane and I both gave a warning tone before he huffed. I tried to hide my chuckle for he pouted just like Jane when he didn't get his way. Jane must have noticed the smile that was about to form on my face for she gave me a knowing look.

I shook my head and walked over to her, rubbing some powder off her nose. "Would you like to tell me what you're cooking," I inquired.

"Cookies," Jane retorted. "I wanted to make sugar cookies."

"My favorite."

Jane nodded, "That's what I was aiming for."

I leaned up and kissed her lips then whispered, "I love you."

"I love you too."

"Ewwww," we suddenly both heard causing Jane to roll my eyes and I giggled a bit.

Jane's POV- Later that evening…

Murder never sleeps and unfortunately, I had to deal with Pike as the ME and not Maura. However, I learned about Maura's conversation after I repaired the very expensive vase that Liam happened to break because he ran around the house. Jo Friday didn't help in the situation with that one but I found out Aaron and I wondered if Kris found out already.

I arrived in alleyway at a crime scene. I stepped out of my cruiser walking over to the crime scene tape as I pulled out my badge to the uniform, "Ri-"

"Rizzoli, Victor 8-2-5. She's homicide, Johnny," I looked up and smiled to see Kris standing on the other side of the crime scene tape with Korsak with her hair pulled back and dressed in jeans and black hooded sweater.

I walked over and hugged her as I inquired, "What are you doing here?"

"Your victim happened to be unfortunately the dealer that I was going to bust but anyways, I just need to give the usual information before I do paperwork," she explained.

"Oh okay. By chance have you bumped into anyone lately?"

Kris gave a confused look but crossed her arms. "No," she answered, "should I worry who I will bump into?"

"Maura and I had an interesting visitor at the house looking for you."

Kris gestured for me to follow as we exited the crime scene. We walked over to her undercover car that happened to be a beat up Mustang. She leaned against it and asked, "Who came to visit you?"

"Well…"

"Ma, please don't make this difficult to get out of you."

"You either will be not happy or not."

"Who was it? Oh my god, it was fuckin' Rodrigo! I told him to call me if he had a lead and oh my-"

I grabbed Kris' arm. "It wasn't Rodrigo," I assured her. I bit my lower lip and stated softly, "It was Aaron."

Kris' anger suddenly faded to a surprise look. She leaned against the car for support as she mumbled, "Aaron?" I nodded and she looked away for a moment as she twisted her ring before she asked, "What did you say?"

"I didn't say anything. It was your mother."

"And?"

"Well, he was surprise about the twins then he asked about where to find you. Maura decided to direct him to Headquarters because we didn't want you to get ambush by him especially with…" I then tilted my head.

Kris nodded, "Gabriella's not a jealous type but, it would definitely be awkward to have my current girlfriend standing there while my ex-boyfriend wants to talk. Jesus, what am I going to do?"

"You want my advice?"

"No, I'm just talking this aloud because I want to hear myself talk Ma. Yes, I need your advice or I'll bother Mom about this."

I glared at her, "Sarcasm isn't appreciated."

"Now you feel Maura's pain when it comes to your sarcasm," Kris smirked.

I pinched her arm causing her to yelp as I pointed out, "Smart ass."

"Thank you but, advise please."

"In all honesty, I think you should talk to him before something happens. He might just want to talk and catch up or-"

"Or he wants to get back with me. Do you know what might be the most difficult for me? It is trying to explain this all to Gabby."

"She knew you dated before."

"Yes but, I don't want her to doubt things between us. I already made a bit of a commitment thing with her already," Kris pointed out.

You are practically married to her almost, I thought to myself. I watched as Kris rubbed her scar before she sighed and I patted her shoulder. "Kiddo," she looked up at me and I smiled gently, "Talk with both of them because you are stressing over something that hasn't evolved into anything big. Gabriella understands and so was Aaron."

"That's what you say right now, Ma." She shook her head then gestured back to the crime scene, "Come on, I need to transfer paper with you guys before I leave and handle my own paperwork."

"You can also stick around and we can cover for you."

Kris shook her head, "Not a good idea with my lieutenant."

"At least, I tried."

"Yeah, at least you did."

Gabriella's POV

"I'm done with my shift. I'm out," I announced as I grabbed my jacket and began to walk out of the hospital. I glanced at my watch, noticing that it would be hitting the late afternoon hour and that Kris would go on either break or leave to go home.

It depended on what case was going on.

I drove down to Headquarters and entered the lobby. I looked over to see that Kris was in the café and began to walk over to a table. I gave a curious look and noticed that at the table was a man. She gave a soft smile that gave me a small twinge in the pit of my stomach. You don't have to be jealous, I tried to assure myself.

"Kris, it's really good to see you," the man said softly.

Kris nodded in agreement, "Four years is a long time."

"It is but you still haven't changed."

"Aaron," she shook her head.

I felt my heart jumped into my throat with realization of whom this was. Kris told me about how she had a previous relationship and how she was dating someone during our friendship. The same time, they broke up when our friendship was still new then we became something more.

Why is he back?

I twisted my ring as I continued to watch as Aaron touched Kris' hand. She didn't pull away but gave another smile before she sipped her coffee. She didn't seem fazed by the gesture but continued to talk to him. She loves you, I took in a deep breath as I released it. I shouldn't be even eavesdropping on her conversation.

Then why is she being friendly?

She's allowed to. If they are just talking, it's completely fine. It's not as if he's trying to-

"Kris, I was wondering if you're available for tonight."

He's asking her out and Kris hasn't said anything.

"Gabby," I turned around to see Angela who touched my shoulder. "Are you okay, sweetheart," she inquired softly.

"I'm fine," I lied.

"Gabriella," I looked over my shoulder to see Kris walk over to me with Aaron observing quietly. Kris smiled gently at me as she leaned down to kiss my lips. I kissed her back then she pulled back and whispered, "Hey love."

"Hey, um…you seem a bit busy," I gestured toward Aaron.

"Oh, well no. I'm about to go back shift soon but you know what…come here," she took my hand in hers as she guided me back over toward Aaron. "Gabriella, this is Aaron. Aaron, this is Gabriella," Kris introduced us.

I gave an awkward smile before Aaron shook my hand. "So you're the reason why Kris seems different," he pointed out.

I gave a confused expression, "Excuse me?"

Kris checked her watch and informed me, "I better get going. I'll see you later."

I nodded as she kissed my lips again then walked off toward the elevators. I looked back at Aaron who stood awkwardly. I looked down my feet before he said, "She does love you." He kept surprising and again, I gave a confused look as he continued, "I noticed you come in when I asked her and you know Kris as much as I do. She trusts people who were close but you missed when she pulled her hand away." I felt my face flushed as Aaron chuckled softly, "Don't worry. Once Kris commits to someone, she'll stay with you and I see the look in her eyes when she looked at you."

"That is?"

"How much she loves you. I never got that look from her and I can only say that you are lucky."

He began to walk away and I called out to him, "Aaron?" He turned around to look at me as I said, "I didn't hear the complete conversation but what did Kris say to you about me?"

He smiled, "You got to ask her that."

Kris' POV

"Okay, one more time, where did it happened," I asked tiredly. The suspect continued to refuse to answer my question and turned his head.

I gave an exasperated sigh and stood up, rubbing my forehead. "Marx," I heard my name to see Richie looking at me. "Why don't you go home? This idiot won't talk and I know you've been here since last night," he suggested.

"You know what? I'll take that suggestion because now, I'm on days off." I picked up my satchel as I began to leave the bullpen as I shouted, "Goodnight everyone." As I exited, I immediately began to walk toward the elevators, thinking over the conversation I had with Aaron.

Flashback…

After I left the crime scene, I began to help Richie with his own interviews but I needed a cup of coffee even if it was late in the afternoon. I entered the café to grab my usual cup before I heard my name, "Kris."

I turned my head and gave a surprise expression. Jane warned me that Aaron wanted to see me but I didn't expect it so soon. "Aaron," I said quietly.

He stood up from his chair and hugged me. I hugged him back before I gestured for him to sit down. He took a seat and smiled at me, "Look at you! You made it."

"Yeah," I chuckled. "I'm a detective in the Drug Unit but what's going on with you?"

"Visiting my parents but I thought I would see how you're doing. Kris, it's really good to see you."

I smiled, "Four years is a long time."

"It is bu you still haven't changed."

"Aaron," I chuckled. I twisted my medallion then sipped my coffee as I retorted, "You'd be surprise how I've changed."

"Maybe you can tell me about it." I raised an eyebrow as he touched my hand and asked, "Kris, I was wondering if you're available tonight?"

I looked at him for a moment before I pulled my hand back. "I'm sorry, Aaron but I'm seeing someone. I've been seeing them for fours years now," I explained.

"Oh…that's great."

"Yeah, she makes me happy."

"She?"

"Yeah…" I chuckled then showed my ring on my finger. "This is exactly how much commitment I placed in."

He gave a surprise look, "You're engaged?"

"Yes…no…it's a promise and I do love her. Gabriella has done a lot in my life that I…I don't know. You were great but for some reason…"

He smiled and patted my arm, "You found your better half."

"As corny as you make it sound but yeah, I found my better half. Crazy as it is."

He shook his head, "It's not. You tend to attract many people and it's because of your personality. You still are the most modest person I know."

"Thank you."

"I also think someone is here for you." I looked over my shoulder and I smiled widely as I stood up with him whispering, "I have no chance with that smile, Krislyn Marx." I gave him a smile at him for I knew that he saw what a lot people saw when they watched me look at Gabriella.

They saw how much I loved her.

"Gabriella," I called as I entered the apartment. I could hear soft music playing in the background before I looked over to see Gabriella in the kitchen, cooking. She changed from her hospital scrubs into one of my button shirts and her jeans. I placed my satchel down as I walked into the kitchen, wrapping my arms around her waist as I kissed down her neck.

"Kris," she giggled gently. "Kris, stop. I'm trying to cook without burning the food."

"I know," I turned the stove off as I pulled her into the living room. I began to lead her in dancing which she reluctantly joined in. She rested her arms around her waist while I placed my arms around her neck.

The music was gentle as we continued to dance until Gabriella asked, breaking the silence, "Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course."

"What did you tell Aaron about me?"

Her voice sounded meek and vulnerable. I stopped dancing with her as I moved my hands to her cheek. "Are you okay," I asked her softly.

"I'm fine…it's just when I saw you with him. I got…I got…"

"Jealous," I finished. She nodded and I kissed her forehead gently as I answered, "I told him that I was happy and that I loved you. He said that he knew that I was when I smiled at you. I also whispered that you are my better half and that this…us…is permanent."

I felt some tears run down her cheek as I smiled at her. She leaned in and kissed my lips ardently. As I pulled back, I placed my forehead on hers as she asked, "You think we would have found each other still? If we haven't met?"

"Gabriella," I whispered, "I think that I would still for you in the end. I've waited for you subconsciously and I still would have waited for you. I would wait a thousand years to just be with you."

"And now?"

"I plan to love you with those thousand years and even more."

I know...a bit corny but we all need it. Please review, PM, comment, give a prompt, etc! Thank you!
