***One Month Later***
Courtney was on vacation at Fischer Beach, and was having so much fun, she nearly forgot all her troubles a month earlier.
She opened her hotel door, weighed down by a beach bag and her towel. She walked down the hallway and out the door, then within a minute, she was in the hotel's beach.
As Courtney laid down on her towel in the sand, two boys on a banana boat wiped out into the water, closely followed by the rest of the people on it.
Fischer Beach wasn't crowded, but there were still people. A girl accidentally sprayed her legs with a water gun, but Courtney chose to ignore it and just relax.
Back in her hotel room, her tooth brush lay across her cup, half under the faucet. A wet face towel slipped off the rack and hit the toothbrush. Like a lever, the other end of the toothbrush pushed up the faucet, and water began streaming through. The towel slipped into the sink along with the toothbrush, and the sink began filling up.
At the same time, the exact same thing happened with a bath towel and a sponge with a handle.
Three hours later, the entire hotel room was covered in water two feet deep. All six of the outlets had water in them.
By that time, Courtney had gotten a serious tan, fell off the banana boat nine times, and had four games of volleyball with some other people at the beach.
Courtney gathered her things and went back to her room. She put in the key card, and when it turned green, took it back out.
She opened the door only to find gallons and gallons of electrified water rushing at her. All she felt was excruciating pain for a brief moment, then nothing.
Abigail and Daniel were driving to the grocery store. They neared Lakeview High School, which was being torn down so it could be rebuilt.
Abigail turned on the television in the car, and changed the channel to WWED News. The headline at the bottom flashed. GIRL ELECTROCUTED AFTER HER HOTEL ROOM IS FILLED WITH WATER. And under that, 17-year-old Courtney Cheung, survivor of the Lakeview High School Bombings...
"Daniel!" Abigail shook him, and he looked over quickly, "Oh no."
Courtney's picture showed, along with a video of people cleaning up the water.
"It's not over," Abigail said through tear-filled eyes. "It's never going to be over."
"Don't say that."
"All our friends are gone. What hope do we have?"
"Shh."
"There's no chance for us. We're going to die!"
"Stop talking."
"We'll never make it," Abigail wailed.
Daniel stopped the car in front of a red light. He turned and grabbed her shoulders, "Stop saying that! We have to have hope okay? Kimberly and Thomas survived another 4 and a half years. So can we."
Abigail sighed and looked straight ahead, "I supposed you're right, but WHAT IS THAT?!"
Daniel whipped around as a gigantic wrecking ball smashed into his car.
