Chapter I- Across The Valley

And the first of many challenges was over…

We buried our dead, searched what was left of the tower and now we were packing up for the new journey. We really didn't recover much, except some shattered bits of diamond armor, some random wizard's junk and little else. After Acacia said that taking the medallion was safe, we took it and we carefully left the building. There wasn't any undead around us but the stench remained. We also recovered a nether star on our way back.

"So… Anyone knows who was that Terranoia the skeleton was talking about?" Fetch asked while he was eating his mushroom soup."

I was quite shaken at the fact that they really weren't that very affected by our friend's death but I guessed they just had to swallow it, it was a war and there would be losses. While they looked happy on the outside they were slightly bitter, especially Sevented since I spotted him shaking from time to time.

"I'm afraid I do not know." She answered while she was packing the blocky tents.

"Another guy with no brain and an evil cape that practices his "mwawawa" every ten minutes…" Fetch joked, trying to cheer up the team. Unfortunately it didn't quite work.

It was still night time but Sevented wanted us to move on, leave these Lost Lands before any other minions arrived and murdered us in cold blood. Our next target was Fence Hall. In there we would rest a bit and plan our next move.

"We are leaving in five minutes!" He rushed.

I was quite impressed with the amount of stuff we could have inside our tiny pockets and their stacking ability, which was something they were so used to, they took it for granted.

It was now sunrise and the woods ahead of us were glowing with life. Sevented lead the way he headed right next to the giant mountains in direction to a valley that was an entrance to these Lands.

"Why is this place called the Lost Lands?" I asked.

"Every time someone enters this place, it is never the same. No one knows why." She answered.

"Looks like I don't have anyone else to share my fuckin' fart jokes…" Fetch said to himself.

To our left there was a nigh endless forest and the old house was no longer visible. Fortunately there were almost no trees to slow us down, only some tall ferns and little else.

"If someone spots a horse, warn me, ok?" Sevented said to us, probably to get a horse only to himself since he enjoyed being the leader and looking like it.

*snort*

Mcarrot didn't stop bugging me the whole trip for carrots, which I didn't have since it raided the supply chest during the night before.

The air was slightly cold because of how close we were to the mountains. Except for our footsteps there wasn't really that much noise.

After 5 minutes or so of walking, we arrived at a ginormous gap in the mountain range. It was the Lost Land's Valley, and it was time to meet new ground. The valley was mostly tree free with ocassional bushes and big river splitting the mountains, when it reached this side the river made a short waterfall creating a pleasant breeze. Before we entered, Sevented halted for a moment, and after he checked it was safe, he asked how many rations we had left.

Fetch, the one carrying most of the supplies quickly checked and answered.

"With only 4 of us, I guess we could last three more days… And in water, we are nearly out."

Sevented took a brief glimpse at his nearly exhausted party from the fight in the night before.

"Very well, I guess we can catch some fish and renew our water supplies… Just don't take too long!"

I really didn't know tired I was only after I sat down at the shore and used my fishing rod. Fetch was the only one with me that was fishing as well; he took some black lens out of his pocket and lay down. Acacia was meditating, and I was a bit creped out when she slowly started to float. Sevented was walking around, occasionally going quite far, he was obviously quite nervous.

With my fishing line on the middle of the river, I was quite lost with my thoughts.

It's such a good day… After that fight, who knew I would still be here, alive and breathing. We started with a team of 8 people or so and we are only 4 right now…

I don't know what I should do… Who is this Terranoia? That Thundask that I killed…? Why is Herobrine doing this? And who is he in the first place?

*SNORE*

My first though was that the pig was beginning again but a close glimpse to my left revealed a snoring Fetch. I smiled, he was a funny guy.

I looked back and I noticed a chicken swimming like a duck around in the river. Right next to it was a small stream of bubbles going to my bait.

"Whoa, whoa…"

As soon as it bit, I pulled the string so hard that the fish left the water and flew straight to my face.

"Hum… Wha… I got fish already…?" He said, smelling the air. I couldn't see his eyes but I guessed they would be half closed.

After he noticed the wet fish on my face he immediately started laughing. I was slightly annoyed but then in the corner of my eye I saw a big squid swimming for Fetch's bait. I kept my mouth shut and I waited for the moment.

When he was starting to calm down, he felt a sudden pull from his rod and started to pull. When the squid felt the pull, it pulled back and Fetch followed it. After he flew for a bit, he landed heavily on the water like a brick. The following splash made me completely wet and woke up Acacia, making her fall a block to the ground. Sevented, turned around and quickly came, branding his sword.

"What happened? Is anyone hurt? Where's Fetch"

When Fetch surfaced again with a new black paintjob, I started to laugh. Acacia couldn't resist letting out a small giggle and Sevented made a smile.

After we caught an average stack of all fish and Fetch resisted the temptation to turn me inside out, we were now ready to move and cross the valley. It was fairly long as I could barely see where the mountains ended.

At some points there was barely any ground left for us to walk since the river got wider and there were also tall rocks.

"We shouldn't have broken the boats for materials…" Fetch complained.

"Now, you shut your mouth! I'm tired of your complaining!" Sevented yelled back.

Fetch now looked like a cornered rat and severally reduced his amount of unnecessary comments.

After four minutes of walking or so, we were almost done crossing it. From the distance, I could tell some rain was coming soon by the heavy clouds. The sun was also going to set in less than ten minutes.

Finally, the tall mountains no longer surrounded us and we had a giant forest, some plains and a jungle in the distance.

"Yes, I can see it from here…" Acacia said to Sevented, in a conversation that I wasn't listening.

"What are you seeing?" I asked, confused, trying to spot anything else than a roofed forest and huge trees.

"An ancient jungle temple."

I looked harder; nothing beyond a jungle could be seen.

"I don't see it…"

"You are not an elf..."

I should have realized sooner that in a team of dwarfs and humans, elves should be in the mix too. What was I going to find next…?

"I get it…" I said, slightly embarrassed.

"Anyway… we'd better get a shelter; night time will soon be upon us." Sevented warned.

"What do we have to fear… wolves? We killed like an army of zombies back there." I gushed for my accomplishment.

"These are other strains of monsters out in the night in here, those ones back there were really weak compared to what we usually get in these thick woods."

I was stricken again with the fear of what happened. I didn't always win a fight against a zombie. In fact, I never fought one alone and won.

I shrugged and I just let my will be bent by the flow.

"So… what do we need to do?"
