Recap of the last chapter

Morgan, walking back to the main village from the dense forest where he briefly raged, met up with yet another viking he was good friends with during his first time in the HTTYD world; Snotlout. That 'reunion' was cut short, though, when Hiccup emerged in order to take Morgan to an area where he could voice his anger at Morgan for doing what he did back at the dense forest.

CHAPTER 12: Letter of 'scribbles'

Hiccup led Morgan back to his hut, in which the 19 year old and the bearded viking walked through the village, past the totem poll structure, and just generally a whole bunch of vikings roaming around the island. Morgan wasn't too nervous, but he certainly wasn't optimistic. He felt that if anybody could make a viking as nice as Hiccup angry, then that 'anybody' was simply a disgrace. How could you want to make somebody like Hiccup angry? Morgan felt like he was different, though; he didn't intend on making Hiccup angry at all.

They both got up to the wooden steps of the two-story wooden hut, where Hiccup opened up the archaic wooden door, allowing Morgan to go in first. The second the door opened, Morgan's nose was once again bombarded with the scent of pure wood.

"Which room?" Morgan asked, unsure as to which door he should go through.

"The same room you slept in..." Hiccup said, gently closing the front wooden door to his hut, as Morgan walked through the right door, back into Hiccup's workshop.

Morgan dropped his bag to the wooden floor, waiting for Hiccup. Once the bearded viking, with his tapping metal leg on the wooden surface of the floor, emerged into the workshop, he closed the door, before looking at Morgan dead on in the eyes as the 19 year old couldn't keep eye contact in return.

"Right, what was all that about? you scared my kids to death back there in the forest? and then to add fire to the uh...uh...fire, whatever, you walked up to us all, and you yelled directly in front of not just my kids, but Toothless, and the Light Fury?" Hiccup said, delivering a louder volume in his voice as he looked dead solemn in his face.

"Hiccup, I'm really sorry for making your kids scared..." Morgan said, "listen, I would never ever deliberately do that to kids, it'd make me feel bad...just understand that I never intended on doing that deliberately, right? I honestly didn't mean to make your kids afraid or whatever, if that's what I did?"

Morgan wanted Hiccup to get the point through that he genuinely didn't intend on scaring his kids. What Morgan DID intend on, though, was ensuring the Light Fury got the message, loud and clear, and to look out for him. For the 19 year old, making her wary of himself was exactly what he wanted.

"Alright, I can forgive that, but just take my context here...as a dad, it's not nice when somebody yells, you know, in front of them...the last thing they need is to be intimidated. You know what? I can't even forget it, you went over the line, can you just admit it?" Hiccup said, unable to properly forgive Morgan; could you blame Hiccup? as a fairly young father, he was super protective of his kids.

"I did go too far, you're right...but I'm not gonna admit the same when it comes to the Light Fury, Hiccup. I didn't want to scare your kids, and again, I'm sorry about that, but I'll make no apology for doing what I did to the Light Fury..." Morgan said.

"God, what the heck is it with you and the Light Fury? leave her alone, man, for crying out loud, it seems like you're beating a dead horse...what is honestly your problem with her?" Hiccup said, getting evidently frustrated, by the tone of his voice.

Naturally, with Toothless's curiosity getting the best of the Night Fury, the dragon couldn't not follow his best friend. Toothless, walking on his four paws as his black scaly self was shining from the scales via the reflection of the sun, the dragon gently walked up towards the door of the two-storied hut, pushing it open ever so calmly and gently with his left paw. Once it opened, Toothless let off another curious-sounding rumble, with raised up ears. The dragon's emerald eyes were widened, too. He knew his mate, the Light Fury, was in secure company with Astrid and Valka, and so, he felt willing to leave her just for a moment.

Once the Night Fury got into the hallway, as his wings were dragging all over the walls as was his tail because of how big he was in comparison to the hallway, the dragon could hear voices being exchanged through one of the doors. The dragon sat down, both wings on the floor, listening in with a ton of curiosity; what was Hiccup dealing with? the dragon found it hard to get comfortable in the hallway, but he eventually found an angle that he could sit at, where his wings weren't pushing against the walls as much.

"You wouldn't know, Hiccup, I wouldn't tell you, either..." Morgan said, sitting down.

"Tell me what? don't hide things from me that I should know, Morgan. First, you yell in front of my kids, and they both flinched at your voice. Then, you yell at the Light Fury, telling her that she ruined...Toothless's life? what did she even do to you, man?" Hiccup said, unable to forget Morgan shouting at his loudest in front of Hiccup's kids; the more Hiccup thought about that, the more it angered him.

"Listen, if you're asking me to stop obsessing with her or whatever, or if you're telling me to leave her alone like you did just now, I'm not..." Morgan said, shrugging his shoulders.

"What?" Hiccup said.

"I'm not gonna back down from what I believe in, Hiccup. But it's like I said, there's more to it than what meets the eye. Your eye, if I'm honest..."

"What are you hiding?" Hiccup said, crossing his arms.

"I'm not hiding anything, Hiccup. Right, okay, here it is, I said this to you when I came back here, and I'll say it again. How the hell can you just get on with her, knowing what she did to you? she threw you off Toothless...she took Toothless away, and worst of all, she...she...oh my god, I can't even describe why she angers me, it's that provoking..." Morgan said, laughing as he felt his anger brew up.

"Whatever she did to me is in the past. Let it go. That happened to ME, not to YOU, so why is all of that a big deal to you? she's a dragon, aren't all wild dragons initially the same? like I said, I hold no grudges against her, it's in her nature, and if you'd have seen her before when she and Toothless landed here this morning, you'd know she's neutral at this point. I just can't take what you did in that forest as unacceptable, though, honestly...they're my kids, you know?" Hiccup said.

"Hiccup, I said sorry about scaring your kids, I didn't mean to scare them, I swear down, I really am sorry. But if I told you why I hate the Light Fury, you'd probably like...get me removed from the island, to be honest..." Morgan said.

"Alright, that's it, I've had enough of this vagueness. What is this so-called secret you're hiding? you've already made me angry from what you did in front of my kids, but now you say you know something I don't about...Toothless and the Light Fury, tell me?" Hiccup said, walking closer to a sat-down Morgan.

Morgan had felt like he had said too much.

"Why are you talking to me like I'm...you know, a child? I'm 19 years old Hiccup, I don't need to be disciplined around, you know?"

"We're vikings, Morgan. My past experiences with Drago and Grimmel have led me to the realisation that I HAVE to be stronger in myself, and discipline? you scared my kids, I can't let you get away with it, no matter how many times you say you didn't mean it...I may be going back and fourth here, but honestly, it makes me angrier and angrier by the second when I remember you doing that back in the forest...so that's where it's coming from...your secret, what is it?" Hiccup asked.

"Hiccup, let me just physically explain myself to you..." Morgan said, standing up, "how can you honestly stand there and say you have no problem with a dragon who walks like this..."

Morgan got up from the chair, remembering the scene (from the third film when Morgan watched it before returning here) where Toothless and the Light Fury did mating dances. Morgan spread his arms out, and started hopping, somewhat like a rabbit, in a half-circle direction, mimicking the Light Fury's walk when she did it in the film. The second he did it, though, Morgan placed his hands over his face, which he could feel turning red, and started laughing out of embarrassment.

"Oh my god, I can't believe I just did that, oh my gooodd..." Morgan laughed, cringing at himself.

"T-That's not funny at all, Morgan...you're showing yourself to be pretty...stubborn, you know, with the Light Fury business...I'm not gonna repeat to you what I've already said when it comes to her..." Hiccup said, standing as still as a statue with his arms crossed, solemn expressed, whilst Morgan kept cringing at himself.

"It's funny, come on?" Morgan said.

"No, it's not, you're mocking her...and I still wanna know why you hate her, come on?" Hiccup said.

"Alright, well do you remember when Toothless did this..." Morgan said, preparing to copy Toothless's mating dance from that very same scene.

It was also the scene shown during the final parts of the first HTTYD 3 trailer.

Morgan spread his arms out again, looking directly at Hiccup, before jumping forwards slightly, sticking his tongue out, like Toothless did, before jumping more towards his right, leaving his arms spread out, where his arms were Toothless's wings. Once again, Morgan stopped doing it, collapsing into another laugh as he cringed at himself, redfaced as Hiccup once again stood there, straight, at the 19 year old's mockery of the dragons.

"You know what? you're more immature than I thought. Mocking those two dragons? thinking it's okay to yell in front of my kids when they were probably petrified?" Hiccup said, enraged by Morgan's confidence to mock the Light Fury, and Toothless. (Mocking Toothless wasn't intended for Morgan, but mocking the Light Fury was).

"Hold on, I didn't mock Toothless at all...and honestly, what can I do to prove to you that I genuinely didn't mean to scare your two kids?" Morgan said, returning to a serious tone, after his brief fun of mocking the Light Fury and, unintentionally, Toothless.

"Tell me your secret. I can wait all day, you're the one who's mentioned it, so now, I wanna know..." Hiccup said.

Morgan was only now starting to feel the pressure of potentially revealing his secret. Despite having fun just now, being able to memorize the mating dances of Toothless and the Light Fury, he was on edge; he just couldn't reveal his secret at all, because if he did, he'd be busted and probably taken from the island. He needed a compromise.

"Are you being serious?" Morgan said.

"Of course I am...you just...you seem so keen on going through with this...pretty surprising agenda...you know, hating the Light Fury? keeping some sort of secret? I shouldn't be as bothered about this 'secret' as I am, but you've described it as if it's some sort of world-changing thing...so come on?"

Morgan had the most creative idea; what if he doesn't physically tell Hiccup, but instead, write it? there was a catch in doing that that'd make it impossible for Hiccup to figure the secret out.

"Right, can I write it down, then?" Morgan said.

"If that's what you wanna do, uh...sure, I think I've got some book paper over here, and uh...yeah, lemme go get that..." Hiccup said, walking over to the far end of the room where all of his viking gear was.

Morgan's idea was this; vikings write in symbols, don't they? what Morgan acknowledges is that because of that, none of them will understand what Morgan's letters on a piece of paper say. To Morgan, it's regular English, but because the vikings write and read the symbols as their language, they won't be able to read it. So Morgan can reveal his secret on paper, but nobody will actually be able to understand it. He was fully assured in himself about doing that.

A few minutes later, Hiccup had given Morgan a bit of paper.

"Any particular reason why you want to write it down?" Hiccup asked.

"You'll see, it'll be easier..." Morgan said, preparing to put the pencil to the paper.

As there was silence in the room behind the door Toothless was sitting at, the dragon was shocked at what he was hearing; somebody in that room hates his mate, most shockingly of all...not that it bothered Toothless completely, because whoever it was that said it, he was unknown to the dragon, but still, that was shocking to hear. The dragon let off another rumble, as he scratched the top of his black scaly head in between his two raised up ears. The dragon was keen to hear more, and so, whilst the silence was ongoing in the room opposite, the dragon started licking his armpits to kill off the time of the silence. The silence was because of Morgan writing up the paper with his secret on it.

Here was what Morgan wrote on the paper. He received a top grade in his English class, so he was able to use some fairly formal vocabulary. He couldn't do it as much physically because of having to think about it, but when writing things, he could think about his word usage, and so, he went super formal on there.

Hello Hiccup. Here is my secret you've been wanting to know about ever since I brought it up to you. I'm only writing it down on this paper because it'll stay concealed. Why? because I'm not writing this down in the viking symbols you lot are used to, meaning all these letters I write will look like scribbles to your eyes, and that goes for you personally, Hiccup.

It's such a shame I don't understand the viking 'language' isn't it? in this case, it's a blessing in disguise for me, and it's a blessing in disguise that you'll never be able to understand this.

In short, I have self-assurance, and I am equally confident, that you will never find out what my secret is even when I write it here. I'm never going to tell you or anybody physically, after all. What I'm writing is something that none of you vikings will ever be able to read. It'll be like an entirely different language to all your eyes, which is perfect for me in keeping this secret locked away.

So here it is; you remember that night when you won a landslide victory against Astrid in that election? remember when I left after that? guess what, I didn't actually leave. I was taken to the Rookery Island by Cloudjumper that night, and then the following morning, I had the honour of seeing Toothless on that island. You know, the hot, steamy island you were taken to by Meatlug when all the dragons left Berk during their first Snoggletog. So when I found Toothless there, get ready for this; we kissed. Yep, I kissed a dragon. A human and a dragon kissed. A male human he kissed, too, in me. Weird? hell no. Not even in the slightest. In fact, it was the best thing to have ever happened, because I knew all along, that I was more than a fan; I was a male young adult who was in love with your dragon. And then you can draw your own conclusions on what happened the night that followed. Boy oh boy, is your dragon a crafty little reptile.

Get the hint, as well; your dragon clearly likes more than just female dragons. He kissed a human who's the SAME GENDER as him (aka me, yep, hahah).

But you'll never understand this, so I've nothing to worry about. When it comes to the Light Fury, who still makes me want to punch anything around me whenever I see her silly little blue eyes and...just her in general, I'm gonna kidnap one of her babies later today and I'll go from there. So hopefully you can understand, Hiccup; it's not just because of what she's done to you in the past, attacking you basically, and being the reason Toothless had to go, that I hate her, it's also because she's, frankly, in the place I was in all those years ago. Funnily enough, I was still on Berk for the following three months after I supposedly left! and during those three months, yep, you guess it.

You wanted it, now you've got it. But here's the bad news; this secret is hidden because of your inability to understand my 'language'. I don't do viking symbols, sorry, 'bud'.

"Right, there you go..." Morgan said.

Hiccup walked over to Morgan, and he slowly took the paper from the 19 year old's grasp.

"I-I can't understand a word of this, what is this..." Hiccup said, looking at the 'writing' on the paper.

Morgan was relieved that his idea was a success.

"That's my secret right there, Hiccup. Can you not understand it?" Morgan said, unable to contain a smirk.

"Oh get out, Morgan, get out of here...you think you can play games and do all this to me and my family? playing me for some sort of idiot? get out..." Hiccup said, enraged at Morgan supposedly 'playing' him by writing up a bunch of 'scribbles'.

Toothless busted in through the door, unveiling his black scaly self, upon hearing his best friend sound angry and provoked. Instantly, the Night Fury looked across at the pink-topped Morgan, who, the second Toothless came in, stood up from his chair, grabbing his bag. Toothless briefly licked Hiccup before looking over to the 19 year old Morgan. Toothless wasn't amused at all; the Night Fury, with his big black scaly, emerald eyes presence, gave off a solemn look at Morgan.

"Bud, bud, it's fine, he's just uh...he's leaving now, alright?" Hiccup said.

"Oh no, Toothless, no, I wasn't doing anything to Hiccup, alright?" Morgan said, desperately wanting to tell Toothless that he wasn't harming Hiccup.

Toothless once again gave off an eyebrow-raised expression at Morgan, giving off a very subtle, yet curious, whine whilst tilting his head slightly. The dragon's emerald eyes were focused on Morgan; once again, he just rang a bell from somewhere, but Toothless couldn't figure that out from his intelligent mind again.

Morgan was keen on emphasising to Toothless he wasn't doing anything harmful to his best friend in Hiccup, because Morgan didn't want to look bad or sound bad.

"Toothless," Morgan said, raising his hands out, lowering them down, as he placed his bag on his back; he was lowering his hands as if Toothless was in full rage mode, "I swear, I mean it," Morgan pleaded, "I wasn't harming Hiccup, okay? I literally wasn't doing anything...please, please, just understand, okay? I'm gonna go now, alright?"

"I think you should, Morgan, you've wasted too much of my time...also, don't do what you did in front of my kids ever again..." Hiccup said, as he looked across at Morgan as Toothless was.

As Morgan walked out of the hut, he felt more and more angry at himself; he's just potentially ruined any chance he's had of Toothless A. seeing himself as a 'good' person, and B. remembering him. Luckily, the Light Fury and the rest weren't around when Morgan exited the hut, but he was still pretty angry.

Toothless wasn't entirely relaxed with that pink-topped guy just now; evidently, he was the one who said he hated the Light Fury, Toothless's mate. The Night Fury knows, because he overheard it from standing in front of the door into here.

"Oh bud, you always come at the right time, don't you?" Hiccup chuckled, and despite seeing nothing but scribbles on the paper Morgan had written on, the bearded viking was keen to see if there really was a viable message on it, and some way of perhaps translating it? it all looked neat, which led Hiccup to that conclusion.

Toothless purred, and started rapidly licking Hiccup across the face, as the two friends, like they did in the old days, hung out in Hiccup's house. But again, despite that pink-top guy's provocative comments about the Night Fury's mate, hating her and all, Toothless was still feeling some sort of deja-vu whenever he saw him. The dragon was also baffled as to why 'Morgan' as he's called, was pleading with the dragon himself, claiming he wasn't harming Hiccup or anything.

When Morgan gets the chance to spray that deodorant near Toothless, getting Toothless to pick up the same scent Morgan had during his last time in this world, the Night Fury will potentially be in for the biggest shock of his life. Will he actually, though? Morgan and Toothless were in the same room with each other for the first time since Morgan's return to this world, which, whilst unknown to Toothless because he doesn't yet remember Morgan, it was secretly uplifting for Morgan himself.

Hiccup, wanting to get to the bottom of Morgan's actions at the dense forest, where the 19 year old had unintentionally scared Hiccup's own kids, but had intentionally yelled at the Light Fury, ended up with a 'scribbled' letter. It's not actually scribbled, though. Morgan only wrote it down with his secret revealed on it because he knew none of the vikings could understand it. The vikings usually always write in the symbols, as it's their language, but Morgan's 'regular' English was simply unable to be translated. Morgan had full self-assurance that his message would never be read. But with Morgan once again enraged from the outcome of this time spent with Hiccup, where the 19 year old feels like he's completely ruined his reputation to the point that Toothless won't see him as a good person, which in turn means he'll never remember Morgan himself, what will be Morgan's next step? the 19 year old's anger following what just happened is a clear sign; he's ready to do his plan to get back at the Light Fury. The question is, is his secret A. truly secure because none of the vikings can understand the style of Morgan's letters (which is actually the normal English way of writing for us)? and B. is he ready to, using his newly gained anger, take his 'revenge' against the Light Fury?
