Chapter 12: I see Pastoria and Celestic Town

HERE'S THE CHAPTER A LOT OF PEOPLE I KNOW SHOULD WANT TO READ! XD I can't believe I finally made it to my goal: this chapter. Because in this chapter is something really important. READ AWAY PEOPLE! ;)

Paul grabs my arm and yanks me out of the swampy landscape.

"Why don't you look where you're going, troublesome?" he says, annoyed. I pull away, a bit agitated by his attitude. However, once realizing I'm not acting properly, I relax and look at him.

"Of course," I say. "I'll be more careful. Thank you for your concern." I continue on and watch out for sink holes as Paul mutters behind me.

"Concern? What!?" I look around for the cause of marsh lands on route 214, and see a group of Floatzel and Buizel each squirting water guns into the air, and causing the dirt to turn into mud. Yet, why would a bunch of water pokemon be away from Lake Valor? Shrugging, I look ahead and see the resort houses on the Valor Lakefront, as well as route 213 on the other side.

"Pastoria is just ahead of here," Paul says. "But I don't see why you're still following me." I look at him.

"I'm not following you," I say, "I'm just heading to battle the same gym leader as you." Paul "hmphs" and continues walking. We cross through all the resort houses, and come to the beach. Smelling the ocean air, I stop, and pull out my pokeballs.

"Come on out everyone, let's enjoy the beach!"

"What!? No, no, no, no." I glance at Paul.

"Why?"

"I don't have time to wait around here, I need to get my next gym badge." I shrug.

"Suit yourself." I turn back to my pokemon, and start playing with them. Paul stands there for a minute, before heading towards Pastoria. Staraptor and Roserade terrify Monferno with splashes of water, as Luka calmly meditates near the waves.

"Raptor?" my pokemon says in confusion, and I open my eyes and sit up.

"What's wrong?" I ask. Staraptor stares off in the distance but shrugs before flying back down to where all of are resting. After a minute of thought, I stand and dust the sand from my clothes.

"I think we should head to Pastoria now," I say. "I should collect my next gym badge." Looking at my team, I frown.

"Roserade, you haven't been in a single pokemon battle yet, so I think I'll use you to battle in Pastoria." She cheers, and I return them all to their pokeballs. Heading down the beach, I arrive at a forest, and pass through some grassy areas before reaching Pastoria. It's a nice town, with several houses, a pokemon center, and the gym in the far left hand side. Heading towards the gym, I stop at the entrance upon hearing a voice.

"Hey!" Turning around, I see Barry.

"Hehe, I'm not going to plow into you EVERY time we meet," he says. "Are you here to battle Crasher Wake?" I nod.

"So that's his name..." Barry nods.

"I'll watch, so let's go in!" Both of us walk through the doors, and I'm shocked when I see a pool as the battlefield.

"Welcome!" the gym leader calls to us. "I don't get to show off my muscles that often. Do you want to see them again?" I blink.

"Umm, no thanks.."He shrugs.

"Very well, send out your first pokemon!" I nod.

"Roserade, let's go!"

"Gyarados! Let's crash through the waters with Waterfall!"

"Roserade, use Leaf Tornado to dodge!"

"You won't get away!" Crasher Wake exclaims. "Brine from above!" Roserade is pelted by strong bursts of water and she hits the pool with a splash.

"Twister!" Roserade bobs out of the water gasping.

"Use Magical Leaf on Gyarados before it can attack!"

"Rose!" she shouts and shoots out an array of shining leafs into Gyarados' mouth.

"Shkaaaaa!" it shrieks, and hits the wall.

"Synthesis on yourself, then use Razor leaf!"

"Rade!" Gyarados sits up to shoot out a Twister, but fails, as Roserade knocks it out.

"Gyarados is unable to battle!" I smile.

"You aren't called the Guardian for nothing, it seems."

"Quagsire, Mud Shot!"

"Roserade, Razor Leaf!" The shots of mud explode, and Roserade's extra Razor Leafs fly through the dust and hit Quagsire directly in the chest.

"Water Pulse!"

"Magical Leaf!" Both attacks push back and forth, with neither pokemon giving in.

"Quagsire, Yawn!" "Dodge it!" I exclaim, and Roserade barely misses the cloud of sleep.

"Roserade, Leaf Tornado!"

"Quagsire, dodge it!" It's too late for Quagsire, since I estimated that it would be slow to respond due to its limited speed.

"Quagsire is unable to battle!"

"Floatzel, Hyrdo Pump!" Crasher Wake shouts. "Show them your muscles!"

"ENOUGH ABOUT THE MUSCLES!" Barry yells from the sidelines.

"Roserade, dodge!" But the Hydro Pump is faster than I could've imagined, and knocks her into the opposite wall.

"Roserade!" I exclaim in shock. I calm myself, and start calculating the probability of my win. With Roserade exhausted from three battles, as well as being hit with that super powered Hydro Pump, I have no choice but to rely on speed.

"Roserade, get up, use Synthesis, then Leaf Tornado!"

"Don't let her attack, Ice Fang!"

"ROSE!" Roserade screams as Floazel's fangs bite into her leafs.

"Brine!" Roserade slumps against one of the floating pieces of battlefield as water crashes down on her. The ice Fang is taking effect, and half of her cape leafs are frozen.

"Break that ice!" I call out, and she struggles out and drags herself away from the icy trap. I bite my lip.

This isn't good. Suddenly, she starts glowing green.

"What's that!?" Crasher Wake says in confusion.

"SOLAR BEAM!" I exclaim, and Roserade sends a bright beam of light into Floatzel, who cries out and lands in the pool before rising to the surface with swirling eyes. Crasher Wake stares.

"I got beat by only one pokemon..." he says. "NO MATTER! MY MUSCLES ARE STILL AWESOME!" I hear Barry fall over in annoyance in the bleachers. I return Roserade.

"Thank you for your hard work," I say. Crasher Wake walks over to me, and his Floatzel hops out of the water before standing behind him.

"Zel zel!"

"I'm surprised a tiny trainer like you could beat my powerfully trained pokemon, but you still did! Here's proof you won. The Fen Badge!" He throws it at my face heartily, and I almost drop it in the pool.

"HAHAHA!" he guffaws, then leans down. "Are you SURE you don't want to see my muscles?" I nod with a sweatdrop.

"I'm fine, but thank you anyway." Barry runs over to me as I exit the gym.

"Wow! You beat him, and with one pokemon!" he cheers. "When I-" Suddenly he stops. "Ah...nevermind, let's heal your pokemon!" He pulls out some potions and heals Roserade. We walk past the pokemon center, and I see Paul exiting it.

"Hey!" I call out. He looks at me.

"Were you waiting?" I ask.

"For what? You? No, I was just healing my pokemon," he says coldly. Barry looks at him.

"AHA! YOU ARE A CON MAN WHO IS TRYING TO DECIEVE DAWN! I SHALL FINE YOU!" Barry rushes forward, but suddenly there is a loud explosion. All of us fall down from the impact.

"What the hell was that!?" Barry exclaims, jumping to his feet.

"Ffeww! Done!" I hear, and look over to see a grunt walking out of the Observatory.

"YOU! What are you doing?!" Crasher Wake shouts, and runs at him.

"I was just told to press a button, that is all. So I must head to give my results. Bye absurdly masked man," the grunt says, before sprinting off. Crasher Wake stops and helps Paul off the ground.

"I must check the marsh in case the bomb did terrible damage!" he exclaims, and runs inside the observatory.

"This has nothing to do with me," Paul says. "I'm leaving." I blink at all the confusion.

"Dawn," Barry says. "Let's chase after that grunt! He may lead us to his leader!" I nod, and we head in the direction the strange grunt went. He's panting by the route gate.

"What's with you? Stop chasing me," he says, and leaves.

"Don't just stand there!" Barry says. "C'mon!" We follow through the gate, through the forest, down the beach, and to the resort houses.

"Hello my friends!" I hear, and turn to see Looker.

"Huh?"

"The cargo that Team Galactic has brought is worrisome. So I have come."

"You're a little late," Barry says. "The cargo was a bomb, and it already exploded."

"EXPLODED!" Looker exclaims. "Ah, no, no, no, no, how did I miss this? And now the bomber is getting away. I must give chase!" With that, Looker runs off and disappears. Barry and I exchange glances before following. We run through the resort houses, and leap over rose bushes and some fountains.

"There he is!" Barry says, as we enter the forest. The grunt turns around.

"WHA?! Fine, you leave me no choice, I'll KO you with my pokemon!"

"Luka, I choose you!" I call.

"Croagunk!"

"Aura Sphere!" I shout, and my attack KOs his Croagunk within a matter of seconds. He stares at his pokemon before returning it.

"I can't believe it...but I must take this item to the lake..." he stumbles off, and I return Luka. Barry jumps up and down.

"AGH! You let him get away! I'm gonna check in those trees." He runs off. I look ahead, and see Cynthia.

"Cynthia?" I frown. She looks behind her.

"Long time no see," she says. "I came to research the folklore of the lake but...it doesn't appear that the lake is open to the public. Have you heard the folklore? They say there is an island in the center. And inside, there is a mirage pokemon, so no one must enter." she smiles.

"Oh! I have to talk to you about something else." Suddenly, Barry runs back up.

"Where's that Galactic goon? I still can't find him!" He turns to see Cynthia.

"Who is this? Your older sister? You two look NOTHING alike." I sigh.

"She isn't? Oh, ok..." He then looks in the distance.

"I'm still gonna search for that loser, I'll be right back," he says, and runs off.

"He's your friend?" Cynthia asks. I nod.

"He's my bodyguard."

"He's more impatient than energetic..." Cynthia comments. "So getting back to what I was saying earlier...have you seen a group of Psyduck on route 210?" I shake my head.

"Ah, I see, well, there is a group of them near Solaceon town, and they're constantly holding their heads because of psychic headaches. Anyway, I was wondering if you could take this medicine down to them so they'll feel better."

I nod, and accept a small brown pouch containing the Secret Potion.

"Thank you!" she says. "I'll be seeing you really soon!" Pulling out Staraptor's pokeball I throw it into the air.

"Come on out!"

"Staraptorrrr!" "I need you to fly me to Solaceon, can you do that?" I ask.

"Raa!" I pull myself up onto its back, and my Staraptor soars into the sky. After flying for about twenty minutes, I look down and see Solaceon.

"Great, touch down there," I say. Staraptor glides down, and I hop off. Returning it I turn to the Psyduck.

"Eat this," I say. "You'll feel better." The small yellow pellets disappear as they swallow them, and all of the pokemon blink with a more alert look.

"Yes!" I exclaim happily. "You're cured of your Chronic headache!" They look around before wandering off. And I glance down the path that they had been blocking.

"Maybe I should check this out..." I murmur.

"Oh, you used the Secret Potion I gave you!" I hear, and turn to see Cynthia. "I would've done it myself, but I wanted to try to see the lake once more before leaving." I nod.

"Oh yes!" she exclaims. "Can I ask you for a big favor?" I nod.

"Of course," I reply.

"Can you take this Old Charm to my grandmother is Celestic town? I'm thinking of doing some research here in Solaceon before following you to my home." I nod.

"I shall deliver it quickly." She smiles.

"Thank you very much!" Waving, Cynthia heads towards the Lost Tower.

"Looks like I'll be going down this path after all," I state, and walk by a field of tall grass until I reach some steep hills. After climbing down them, I cross several bridges. The sun is starting to set by the time I see a small town on the horizon. I sit down for a minute to eat some snacks. If I can make it to Celestic town by tonight, then I'll be able to finally rest.

Dusting my clothes off, I head down a hill and into some fog. I pull out Monferno's pokeball, and have her light my way.

"Do you see the town yet?" I ask. Monferno shrugs and I sigh.

"Oh well.." Suddenly I see a figure through the fog.

"Hello?" I call out. "I'm a bit lost...can you direct me towards Celestic town?" The figure points to the west, before disappearing.

"Wait!" I call, and run after them, stumbling over some rocks.

"Ferno!" my pokemon exclaims in worry, and follows me. I slide down a hill, and suddenly pop out of the fog. Blinking, I look around, and see a quaint town. There is a small shrine in the center of the town as houses surround it and rise up as the landscape turns into a deep valley. I head into town, and see an old woman.

"There's an odd spaceman in front of the ruins," she says. "There's nothing there, and it's seeming to get him angry, so stay away from him. He keeps talking about how he's going to blow this place up with a bomb, but...if only I were younger I'd teach him a lesson!" I blink.

"Alright..." Passing by the shrine, I see a small cave across from me. A Galactic grunt stands in front of the cave opening, and I walk up to him.

"This town is insignificant! There's nothing to value here. It doesn't need to exist so I'll blow it up with a Galactic bomb! Mess with me and I'll shut you down with my pokemon!" I glance at Monferno. "Houndour, and Golbat!"

"Monferno," I say, and pull out another pokeball. "Staraptor. Use Flame Wheel and Brave Bird!" The attacks slam into the grunt's pokemon before he can even utter a command.

"You...are too much to handle! I can't do anything here..." He runs away. I look on after him, and then see the old woman from before.

"Oh, you were magnificent!" she says. "As an elder of Celestic town, I give you my thanks..." She looks down at the Old Charm that is hanging on my bag.

"May I see that?" she asks.

"Sure, Cynthia told me to give this to her grandmother," I say.

"Cynthia entrusted this to you?" I nod. "That Cynthia,..she's my grandaughter." I smile.

"Then that Old Charm belongs to you." The old woman nods, and smiles.

"This old charm was something made in Celestic Town a long time ago. It was made in honor of the mythical deity said to have created Sinnoh. They're still discovered here and there." She sighs. "Well, since you're here, why not take a look at the ruins?" I nod.

"I think I will," I say, and return my pokemon to their pokeballs.

"That...bracelet.." the old woman says. I freeze. She looks at it carefully.

"You're...nevermind." With a smile, she pats my shoulder. I enter the cave through its entrance, and head to the far wall. It shows three pokemon floating in a triangle around some sort of sphere. Cynthia's grandmother walks in behind me.

"The cave's painting seems to mean this: There were beings. Beings so powerful they were considered deities. There were three, which had power to match the other. They all kept the balance as if they were made as a pyramid... It's an ancient tale still told in Celestic town."

"I would like to know more about that legend, if you will," a voice asks. We both turn to see a man in a black suit. I keep my eyes from widening. It's the man from Eterna city who was at the pokemon statue.

"Who might you be...?" the elder asks.

"My name is Cyrus. I want to put an end to pointless strife and hostility. I am seeking the power to make an ideal world. Thus, I want you to answer. The world can't be changed because the three pokemon keep it in balance Is that what you're saying?"

"I wouldn't know...but the world is in balance," the elder replies. "I'm quite satisfied with how the world is. I'm not interested in your question." Cyrus looks down at her. I fidget.

"...Plead ignorance, will you? What a pointless attitude. You fail to appreciate that the world is incomplete. I will change the world. As the first step, I will destroy those cave paintings. A new legend will take its place."

The elder gasps, and I hold her steady so that she doesn't faint.

"Ah, I was only joking," Cyrus says. "I will take my leave now." He stares hard at me for a minute, and walks away. I shiver, and clutch my bracelet.

"What an awful man," the elder states.

"Grandmother?" a voice asks. We look up and see Cynthia.

"Who was that man?" she asks. The elder shrugs.

"Some strange individual," she replies.

"Hey Dawn!" Cynthia calls to me. "Why don't we head outside? I was just speaking with someone." I nod, and all of us exit the cave. We stop in front of the shrine. I see a tall boy leaning back against it. He looks maybe sixteen, and is dressed completely in black. He looks at me.

"Is your name Dawn?" he asks. I nod.

"Yes...?"

"I know who you are, and I'm in need of your help," he says.

"Alright.." I say.

"He's part of the International Police," Cynthia says, "and a close friend of mine." I look back to him. He steps forward.

"My name is Black, and I want you to come with me to the Unova region."

Yeaaaaah. Finally everyone should know where Black is since he disappeared from Black and White! :D Hope you enjoyed!
