Finally back, I really do apologize for how late this was. School really got to me and I found myself with way too many things going on at the same time. But I have finally fixed my schedule better. And I can finally start posting again. So, here it is, chapter 12

Chapter 12

Hiccup never thought that he would want to fight, or need to, for that matter, especially after the peace treaty with the Outcasts. Life on Berk would have improved for the better; he would teach the Berkians everything they needed to know to raise the dragons properly. Then he would move to the Meatheads and then the Outcasts. Then people would travel around the world teaching it so that everyone could have dragons.

But, what is life for a Viking if everything went according to plan. Besides, saying that he regrets all these events is saying he regrets fighting for Astrid, and that will never happen. He regrets nothing, but he won't tie her down to him either, at least not like this; Astrid is worth much more than this simple fight of who's stronger. And he will find a gift that will tell her that. But for now he must win this fight; to prove he is worthy of standing next to the love of his life.

"Hiccup…" Stoic stares down at the arena shocked. His son is alive, there was still hope. There was still a chance to make this whole disaster go away. He is sure that it was Dagur that started this whole mess. That scoundrel has been after his son since he discovered the truth about Toothless. And now that he couldn't get toothless or Astrid he's after him.

But, Hiccup is no longer the short skinny boy from before; he's stronger now and it's apparent. Whatever crazy training he went through, it worked he looks just as strong as Thuggery; maybe not as built, but, there was something about the way he stood that made him look like he could take down the red death all on his own.

"Hiccup… So, you're still alive." Dagur looks at Thuggery with piercing eyes. "I was told by someone that you would not show up, and not because you were too scared to show. But that's better, I don't want to win by cheating. I'd rather kill you personally."

"Whenever you're ready, I'm right here. For both of you." Hiccup stands straight; a very threatening stance, challenging them to try and take advantage of the fact that he is unarmed, as well as show them that he is prepared for any movement that they try to make.

"Don't try to help me Thuggery, I will murder him. And then we can have our own fun." Thuggery only grunts his agreement. This is not what he had planned at all; he was only going to have to deal with the rest of his plan and be rid of all those that could oppose him.

Dagur takes a few steps forward and unsheathes his sword, and for a moment there is silence. The silence that happens before any battle begins, one of two warriors ready for anything and everything that will come their way. Dagur takes this moment to analyze Hiccup, he really is much better prepared for his attacks this time.

In their last battle neither knew what the other could do in a fight, though Hiccup had unsurprisingly not much battle strength to begin with. But, now, Dagur was at a disadvantage. Hiccup knew most if not all about his fighting style, and Dagur knew nothing about this new Hiccup. But, that just meant it would be more fun.

Hiccup is surprised as to just how calm he is in front of what was his most deadly adversary; before Thuggery at least. He used to shake whenever he needed to fight him, who would want to have to fight someone, well, deranged.

They stood still, waiting for a signal. A Deadly Nadder passes by and lands on the edge of the stage looking down. The moment her claws touch the edge, Dagur lunges and strikes Hiccup from above in a downward strike. Hiccup evades by moving to the side and strikes Dagur with a Horizontal chop to his chest. The strike sends him flying and he hits a button when he lands. A giant hammer comes flying down, nearly hitting Dagur as he rolls out of the way.

He gets up and glares at Hiccup, and then relaxes into a maniacal laugh. "I must say Hiccup you've improved, I'm really going to enjoy this." Dagur throws his knives at Hiccup, who dodges them with ease; that would have been the end of it if he was the initial target. However, Hiccup finds himself having to roll out of the way to avoid a volley of arrows that strike at the push of a button; pressed by the same dagger that was dodged.

Hiccup stands up and dodges as Dagur swings his blade over and over; diagonal, straight down and sideways, constantly trying to chop off a limb. Catching Dagur's elbow as he sliced again, Hiccup pushes Dagur's elbow up allowing him to punch Dagur in the liver with a dragon fist, a fist with the middle finger out so that the first joint is out like a point in a spear. Dagur falls to the ground, dropping his sword, "ha, ha, ha, "cough, "very good Hiccup very good indeed. Now let's get this over with" he gets up and prepares to fight hand to hand.

Just as Dagur 2 feet away from Hiccup, it happened. Dagur stopped and pushed Hiccup out of the way; as Hiccup gets up he sees why Dagur did. Dagur stood, shocked holding a pointy end of a sword, that went right threw his back and through the left side of his chest. "Thuggery, you bastard…" Dagur takes a few steps and slides out of the blade, kneeling in front of Hiccup.

"Dagur!" Hiccup grabbed Dagur to hold him up. He may have hated Dagur, but he never had any intention of killing him. He had grown up with him; and, unlike everyone else, Dagur did talk to him, and treated him as a younger brother. He looked at the injury and knew, there was no surviving it. "Oh Thor, Dagur…"

Dagur coughs and laughs at the same time, "You were always too much of a softy, Hiccup. I was trying to kill you a few seconds ago." He tries to breath and it gets harder and harder as the seconds go by. Hiccup only stared in silence into the eyes of his nemesis. "Don't look at me like that, it's an honor to have died in the battle field remember… "He coughed and started blinking, fading in and out.

"… It's funny you were always the little brother I couldn't get rid of… I guess… in the end… you got rid of… me…" Dagur slowly starts to slump and becomes heavier and heavier in Hiccups arms. "… Farewell… my brother…" Dagur says nothing after that, his eyes dilate completely, and his body falls into Hiccup's arms.

The entire stage is silent for a long moment, for, even though he was evil, a great leader had fallen. It wasn't until Thuggery spoke that anyone moved. "Completely useless in the end; his dragons couldn't kill you, his men couldn't even find you, he himself couldn't kill you, and he couldn't even be a good enough decoy to allow me to kill you." He stares at Hiccup as he hugs Dagur for a moment, then he stands, slowly while placing Dagur down with his eyes closed, ready to cry. "What's wrong Hiccup? Still have too much heart to kill anyone?"

Thuggery then falls silent and looks into Hiccup's eyes as he opens them, and everyone looking takes a step back. Very few people had ever seen that look in his eyes, and those that had knew exactly what it meant. This was no longer Hiccup the Dragon Tamer.

Hiccup the Dragon Tamer had a kind heart and could never kill a soul, let alone harm one. This Hiccup was not that kind soul, he was merciless and a full-fledged Viking. He was the one that fought Alvin when he tried taking Astrid, the one that fought Dagur when he tried to kill Toothless. This, was not Hiccup the Dragon Tamer, this was Hiccup, the killer of the Red Death, and he was staring at his next victim.
