A/N: This is the start of the entirely new material! (Flashbacks are in italics!) Happy reading!

I don't own Naruto.

The engine roared like a metal lion, working to keep up the pace set by the driver. Sakura had her foot slammed to the floor, forcing the acceleration to go as fast as possible.

"Did we lose them?" She screamed over the sound of the van's motor whirring. Her eyes flickered to the rear-view mirror, and saw nothing in the street behind her. She spared a brief second to look over her shoulder to the back of the van.

"No, keep going! I think we lost them!" Tayuya shouted from the back of the van, her face briefly flitting through the small space that joined the van. In the back, Jūgo sat crouched, keeping the stacked boxes from slipping all over the place and damaging the cargo inside.

Despite the confirmation that they had lost the other car tailing them, Sakura did not let off the acceleration. Making a sharp right turn, she continued through two red lights at high speeds, comfortable that no one would be out so late at night. The automatic clock in the dashboard blinked '3:07' back at her in red. She didn't want to risk getting caught by the people in the sleek Chrysler they lost. She let out a quiet sigh, trying her best to calm her nerves in the relief that had settled throughout the van.

"Sakura, look out!"

"Shit!" Sakura screamed, moving her foot to the break and slamming on it.

The van slammed to a halt, but too late. Metal whined and screeched loudly around them, crunching and grinding.

Sakura watched, with growing horror in her eyes as the car they just hit side-long flipped once before landing on the sidewalk leading up to the four way intersection.

"Oh my god. What did I just do?" She breathed, staring at the vehicle she had crashed into. She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned, vacantly looking into the hazel eyes of Jūgo . "Sakura, Sakura, it's okay," he soothed. Before he could do anymore, he was pushed roughly out of the way.

"Princess, now is not the time to go into shock! We have to get out of here!"

She wasn't listening, though, just staring at her hands on the wheel.

"Fuck," Tayuya swore under her breath. She opened the back doors of the van and pulled out a phone. Putting it up to her ear, she bit out, "Accident at 4th and Iwatsuru." She then dropped it onto the ground, and smashed it under her foot.

"Come on," the woman growled, pushing Sakura out of the driver's seat and into the passenger's. "We can't stay. I called the cops, they'll be fine, but we won't be if they get us!"

She turned the van on, ignoring the way it creaked and groaned with the effort, and sped out of the area as fast as possible. Turning onto dark alleys and going as discreetly as possible, she drove them through the red light district and out of Konoha, avoiding the major routes and highways.

The van was silent. Sakura looked out the window vacantly, as the landscape quickly passed them by. She pointedly ignored the way Jūgo placed his hand onto the pastel pink-haired girl's shoulder in attempt to comfort, and the way she subconsciously leaned into it. She wasn't going to be the one to snuff out their humanity.

"Oyabun-sama is not going to be happy with us…" Tayuya muttered.
