It was nearing one in the morning and by that point, most of the party had gone back to their dorms to sleep off the alcohol they'd consumed. Pike, surprisingly, was still there, along with Nyota, Bones, Scotty, Pavel, and Hikaru to keep Jim and Spock company.

It turned out that Kelly hadn't even been at the party, so she couldn't collect her winnings just yet. However, Jim was still getting over the fact that she tried to bed him and bet that he would get together with his roommate. "I mean, Uhura I get," the blonde continued to reason out, ignoring the glass of beer by his right hand. "She told me that she'd been trying to get us together for weeks. Kelly though? No way I would've pegged her for this."

Nyota groaned, letting her head fall onto the table. "Jim, we've been listening to you for hours. Can't you get over it already?" She looked up across the room and then sat up straight. "Guys, she's here."

Everyone turned to look at Kelly walking into the room, expertly maneuvering around the trash left on the ground while making her way over to where they were all seated. "Mister Chekov," she said coolly, once she reached their table. "I believe I won the pool. So, where's my money?"

Pavel met Kelly's stare with one of his own, his face not showing any emotion, which was slightly creepy given how expressive the kid usually was. "I haf not yet received everyone's payment for zier participation in ze pool. You vill not be able to collect until at least next veek."

Kelly sniffed, looking down her nose at everyone, even Pike, as if they were inferior to her. "Wait a minute," Jim said, standing. "When the hell did you join the pool? To get me and Spock together. As in a couple," he added as if he hadn't already been clear enough.

"You've been rejecting me for weeks." She flipped her poorly-dyed hair over her shoulder. "I suppose that was enough of an indicator. Then again, the day you ran after your boyfriend and Uhura at the restaurant and Miss Chapel gave me the 'Touch him and I'll murder you slowly and painfully' speech - now that was a clue if there ever was one. The minute I got back to campus, I tracked Pavel here down and joined in the pool." Kelly scoffed. "Good thing I put my bet for that afternoon. I figured if there was that much sexual tension still in the air, there was no way you weren't getting together that day." She turned her attention back to Pavel. "I expect the money no later than next Friday." With that, Kelly left the room.

The eight of them sat around the table in a bit of a dull numbness. Pike was the first one to speak up again. "That just happened, correct?" He was met by agreements all around. "Good. For a second I thought I was actually drunker than I am." He stood up after a moment. "Well, now that that's settled I'm going to turn in for the evening. I'm expecting all of you to be in class tomorrow," he added, giving pointed looks to everyone but Bones and Scotty, who simply raised their glasses in agreement. Pike looked at Nyota, who suddenly sobered up a little. "Wonderful party, Miss Uhura. Now I have to announce the winner of the staff pool," the professor added to himself.

"Did the school faculty not have their own pool, Professor?" Spock raised an eyebrow.

Pike shrugged. "Eh. There were two. There was the student pool and then the staff. Most of the staff was in on both, just in case they could increase their winnings." He waved a hand at the group. "Night, all."

A/N: GOD IT'S LAME AND SHORT AND LIKE A MONTH OVERDUE. THIS IS SO SAD AND I CANNOT APOLOGIZE ENOUGH. Thank you everyone who has suffered through my long bout of writer's block and I can't promise that it's over yet BUT I may have the beginnings of the next chapter (for like forever) but I'm stuck. Anyone have any ideas on how to get Nyota, Spock, and Jim out of lunch with a mother?
