One week later

Addison knocked on the door frame and I looked up from my iPhone.

"Hey Addie, come join me. I'm bored out of my wits." I told her patting the space next to me on my hospital bed. Addison smiled and plopped down next to me.

"Nervous?" She asked. I nodded.

"I've been playing Angry Birds to get my mind off it." I confessed. Addison nodded.

"I can't blame you. First round of chemo, yikes." Addison said. I nodded.

"You could say that again. I just hope it doesn't make me too terribly sick. I'd hate for Seth to have to see that." I confessed. Addison nodded and wrapped me in a hug.

"Well, you're tough so I think you'll be fantastic." Addison encouraged. I smiled. "What time is Dr. Peterson coming to get you?" Addison asked.

"Three." I told her and fidgeted with my hospital bracelet. It was two-thirty now and I was so nervous it was making me nauseas and I hadn't even started yet. Addison checked the clock.

"Oh wow, nearly there." Addison breathed. She tapped her casted arm nervously on the bedrail of my hospital bed. I nodded.

"This time tomorrow I'll probably be puking my guts out." I said shuddering at the thought. Addison rubbed my shoulder comfortingly.

"Remember you are Callie Torres, bad ass ortho surgeon, tough as nails, super woman, and an awesome mother. You can and you will make it through this." Addison told me hugging me tight. I smiled.

"Addie, get off me." I groaned. Addison smiled and let go of me.

"So tell me about this blonde haired blue eyed PEDS surgeon." Addison said nudging me playfully.

"Her name is Arizona Robbins. And she's pretty great. She's so kind and Seth loves her. She's gorgeous too, stunning really." I told Addison dreamily. Addison rolled her eyes. Dr. Peterson entered my room with his lab coat billowing around him.

"Mrs. Torres! How are you feeling today?" Dr. Peterson asked and glanced over my monitors.

"Pretty good. A little sore though." I told him. Dr. Peterson nodded. Addison got out of my bed so Dr. Peterson could examine my scar from the surgery last week.

"You're incision site is healing nicely. Well, I'm going to go on down to the center and get everything set up. A nurse will come in get you in about ten minutes." Dr. Peterson said and left my room.

"Addie I'm going to be sick." I told her once he was out of earshot.

"No you are not." Addison told me. I nodded and took a deep breath. Arizona appeared in the doorway. Addison glanced back and smiled at me suggestively when she saw that Arizona had entered the room. "I'm going to go see how Seth is doing." Addison said and left my room. Arizona smiled at her as she walked past her.

"How are you?" I asked Arizona and gestured for her to sit next to my bed in the chair. Arizona smiled and took the seat gladly.

"I'm worried, about you. Chemo is a huge deal, and today is your first treatment." Arizona admitted. I smiled.

"I'm worried too. Are you busy this afternoon?" I asked. Arizona shook her head. "Would you sit with me? During treatment?" I asked swallowing my fear. Arizona smiled and nodded.

"I would love to." She said happily. I smiled.

Next Day

I slowly opened my eyes and blinked away the sleepiness. My stomach was twisting up in knots. I felt so sick. Addison was playing with Seth in a chair near my bed. She was laughing and playing peek-a-boo with him and he thought it was the greatest thing. He was giggling so loudly. I smiled at his laughter and tried to silently fight away the nausea without letting them know how badly my stomach was turning and trying to revolt from the food I had eaten yesterday. Arizona had sat with me the whole treatment yesterday we got to know each other loads better. I really liked her. I couldn't take it anymore, I leaned over the railing of the hospital bed and threw up everywhere. Addison stood up abruptly and sat Seth down in one of the chairs. She ran over to me and held my hair back while I threw up.

"Callie, oh my gosh. It's okay Cal, I got you." She said and rubbed circles on my back. My stomach was turning violently. "Damn this is worse than I thought." Addison said glancing down at the pile of throw up I had created.

"Addison my stomach." I moaned. Addison threw my hair up in a ponytail quickly so she could have both of her hands free to page Bailey and Mark. She paged Mark so he could get Seth. He didn't need to be around for this. I was sicker than both me and Addison had anticipated. Bailey gave me some anti-nausea medicine and started me on an IV of fluids.

"I'm really sorry about the throw up." I told Bailey when she was looking over my vitals. Bailey laughed.

"Don't worry about it Callie, none of us expected you to have such a violent reaction to the chemo." Bailey said sympathetically. My stomach turned unexpectedly again and Bailey got the bedpan in front of me just in time.

"God, when will I feel better again?" I asked rhetorically when my stomach had calmed again. Addison rubbed my shoulders comfortingly.

"Just give it a few days." Bailey assured me. I nodded.

"How many more treatments do I have again?" I asked.

"Dr. Peterson mention about six. So five more." Bailey said.

"When's my next one?" I asked and took a deep breath. I was starting to get dizzy and hot.

"Next week, Callie are you okay?" Bailey asked.

"Yeah, just kinda hot and uncomfortable feeling." I told her.

"Your cheeks are a little flushed." Bailey said. "Addison will you get a cool rag?" Bailey asked. Addison nodded and went into my hospital room's bathroom. She returned with a cold rag and placed it on my forehead. The rag felt good on my forehead and I felt myself start to relax.

"Try and get some sleep Callie. We'll check on you in a little bit." Bailey said. Addison nodded and followed her out of the room. Chemo was going to be the death of me.
