Author's Note: Here's another chapter. I hope you like it. This one isn't really too Christmasy, but I think it still works with the theme. I would like to thank Aurora Marie Williams for her help with this chapter.
Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans.
Jinx couldn't help but think about how simple Wally was. He didn't have too many luxury items, which struck her as odd. He could have anything he wanted, but he settled for less. It was strange to her, but it was a different situation for her than him. Why did the stupid boy have to make things so difficult? She was trying to do something nice, but he was making that hard for her.
She wondered how the redhead never got bored because she was sure if she were in his position, she would get bored quite easily. He always entertained himself with what he had, which sometimes included the pink haired sorceress herself.
This is what made it so hard for her to pick a gift for the boy. She wished he showed an interest in something other than her because, let's face it, there was no way she was going to wrap herself up as a gift How the Grinch Stole Christmas style. What could she get someone who rarely wanted anything? She was tempted to give him the first thing that she saw in the store. But no, she couldn't do that because that would show she didn't care. The speedster would definitely be the death of her.
Jinx could solve riddles easily; it was a skill that she had been born with. This, however, was one riddle that she couldn't find the answer to. She couldn't help but picture Wally in her head, happy with a rock that she had gotten him. Even if it were one beside the front door of his apartment, the boy probably would be ecstatic to see that she actually got him something. Maybe she would get him a rock. He could find a good use for that, couldn't he?
Why did the most simple boy she knew, have to be the most difficult to shop for? Then it hit her; maybe that's what she needed to do, find something simple. She thought about the boy that drove her insane, but still had his sweet side. She knew exactly what she was going to get him. It was simple, but complicated like the boy himself. She just hoped he would like it. She would make him like it if he didn't.
She left the apartment to go to the store. She was lucky that the speedster was asleep or else she would have to worry about him getting in the way. She entered the store that was on the corner of the street.
Jinx walked in, and was on a mission to find the gift. She found it, and grabbed one off the shelf. The pink-haired girl let out a sigh of relief. That was a big weight off her shoulders. Just as she was about to leave, she felt a tug on her jacket.
She looked down, and saw a little girl with a million freckles on her face. The little girl was smiling so wide that Jinx thought she was high off of laughing gas.
"Are you really Jinx?" the little girl asked curiously.
"Yes," Jinx replied with a small smile.
"That's good because you saved me," the little girl grinned as she handed Jinx something, "You're my hero!"
"That's so kind of you." Jinx answered.
"Who are you buying that for?" the little girl asked.
"I'm buying it for a friend." Jinx stated as she saw the little girl's mom walk toward them.
The little girl's mom apologized for her daughter's behavior, and took her away. Jinx quietly waved to the little girl who waved excitedly back. Jinx couldn't help, but feel happy about the gift that the girl had given her. There was a picture of Jinx and the little girl. Jinx went to the cash register, and bought Wally's present.
Simplicity wasn't so bad after all. The little girl's picture made Jinx's day as she walked back home with a smile on her face. Sometimes, it's just the thought that counts.
