Kaneki's eyes continued to stay fixed on the wretched doctor in front of him. He felt his stomach turn to simply look at him. It all made sense now; it was very clear what the doctor had been doing all this time. His eyes trailed to look at the capsules and the humans slumbering within them. These people were subjects, ghoul to human subjects. The fact that he had been an unfortunate test subject made him all the more feel bitter of himself.

Kaneki: "You…you did this to me?" His eyes stayed fixed on the doctor, his mind putting all type of visions in them; seeing the doctor shred to pieces was one of them.

Kanou: "Were you that slow to guess, my dear patient?" His tone was far from gentle. It held a tone of arrogance and authority. The man soon stepped closer to Tatara, regarding Kaneki with a simple smile. "I presume Ayato-kun and Eto is here?" he asked, his eyes locking with the ghoul.

Tatara: "They're here. However, they decided to stay put. They know that Kaneki Ken's squad will come for him the moment they see he is not home."

Kanou: "Good, it seems things will go easier than expected."

Tatara: "What are you planning to accomplish?"

Kanou: "A new era in which humans will not be food for ghouls. They will be half-ghouls, and will be alongside the full-pledged ghouls. They will live in harmony, out of arms ways—"His gaze fell on Kaneki's piercing glare. "—Kaneki Ken, you have become one of my accomplished subjects. You believed you were in Aogiri Tree, but in reality, the one you are in is a mere copy of it. This." He raised his arms, signalizing the whole laboratory. "This right here is the real Aogiri Tree, one which shall change the world forever towards Humans and ghouls alike!"

Kaneki stared at the other in pure disbelief. All this time, he had been in Aogiri Tree, a mere copy of it. All this time, he hadn't been protecting Anteiku or his friends; he had been helping this Aogiri achieve its goals by how many times he had retrieved ghouls from the CCG prisons. He felt utterly dense to see what had been happening around his doings.

Kaneki: "You mean to tell me…" He began, his voice shaking in pure rage. "…I had to live as a ghoul, eat like one, fight like one, and disconnect myself from my original life for this?"

Kanou: "That's right. Do you feel proud?" The man asked, sounding pleased.

Kaneki: "Like hell!" He yelled, taking Tatara by surprise when his rinkaku suddenly stormed out from his back around his waist, swinging savagely to the side as he threw Tatara a slight bit away, though the ghoul kept his feet. "Do you know how long I suffered!? Seeing everyone around me—suddenly disappear as if I, Kaneki Ken never existed!? Do you know how many people I lost—I even lost my best friend due to this!" His rinkaku's suddenly swayed up and down, slamming harshly against the metal as it echoed around the metallic room.

Kanou: He was startled to the sudden rinkaku's that stormed out of his body. He quickly stepped back, seeing he had been far too close to the other. "But all this time, Anteiku has been lying to you!"

Kaneki: He halted to hear his words, growing still to the sudden honesty the other was giving him. He quickly shook his head, not wanting to believe him. "They have never lied to me! They were the most trustful people I could count on—"

Kanou: "Do you even know what that old man Yoshimura is?! Do you know what they have been hiding from you?!"

Kaneki closed his eyes tightly, clutching his head to hear his words. His rinkaku's began to swing violently, his eyes reopened with pure rage viewable in them. To hear his words made him feel lost and confused. He didn't know what he was talking about, he wanted to hear but at the same time he didn't want to either, he didn't want to believe anything.

Kanou: "The secret they have kept so strongly, the one where even you weren't invited to know! The one-eyed Owl is actually your dear Yoshimura!"

Kaneki stood still, feeling his eyes widen in pure disbelief. His eyes stared at the doctor who stood a few paces away. His hands slowly dropped from holding his head, both of them swinging lifelessly down between his sides.

Kaneki: "That's…" He crunched his teeth together and yelled his heart out. "That's not true! That can't be true! Yoshimura-san is a generous man! He lend me a home, a place to even be called a home! You took away my humanity, my friends, my freedom and you expect me to believe this!?" He felt tears stream down his cheek, panting once he felt his lungs burning. He closed his eyes tightly and clutched his head once more, hearing words that he only hears. "Please…don't take this away from me too."

As Kaneki finished whispering his words, his Rinkaku tentacles twisted very sharply, aiming upward as they seemed to grow in length. The tip of the tentacles became sharp and looked like hook-like needles. The color of his tentacles became a darker red, aiming more upward. Kanou stared in sheer horror to see how long the tentacles had now become; it nearly reached the top of the immense metallic doors. Kaneki let out a high pitched scream as two extra centipede-like tails protruded downwards from his back. His mouth opened wide, the high-pitched scream continuing as the centipede-like tails grew in length and size. He felt his eyes widened as he felt a sudden rush of violent shaking and immense pain overcome his mind. His vision was soon blocked by his Kakuja creating a mask in his facial features. It had a hole for his left eye and a bird's beak over the middle of his face. His scream soon subsided ever so slowly as he stood still, his body twitching every now and then as his back was arched back in a very unnatural way.

Kanou: "This is—"He grinned with pure delight and excitement. "My successful experiment! The most perfect creation of a ghoul!" He gleamed with delight, his arms drawn openly as his face showed his twisted happiness. However, his face slowly turned grim at the sight of the other suddenly appearing in front of him. He stared wide-eyed at the blank right eye of Kaneki's, as well as the terrifying mask that held a much bigger eye.

Kaneki: "What's 1000 minus 7?" He asked as his lips twisted to a huge grin.

~The CCG outside the mansion~

Marude: "Is this the place?" The man asked in a gruff voice, his expression clearly impatient and filled with authority as he stepped out of the van in which held various weapons and screens as well as walkie-talkies.

Yoshitoki: The man elegantly stepped out of the van after the other, his white coat fluttering to the sudden gush of wind. "Yes. According to data, this is where odd activities have been witnessed lately." He gazed towards the mansion, taking in the surroundings. The mansion looked thrashed, and it seemed quite obvious that it hasn't been used for a long time, even the paint looked very poorly cared for. The trees around its side didn't make much of a difference, it made the place look even more isolated.

Yoshitoki soon stepped towards the middle of the grass, the CCG soldiers soon ran to get in formation as they all aligned in a very formal line. Each line had twenty people each. Yoshitoki looked up at them and soon began to yell, for everyone to hear clearly.

Yoshitoki: "Today is the day we find Akihiro Kanou due to many suspicious activities! First-Class Ghoul Investigator Koutarou Amon has given us the information we need to get this mission started and be finished with! We are also in suspicions that Eyepatch may be inside and other ghouls as well! Watch your heads, men! This is a mission that could either end in life or death!" He turned around, facing the mansion. He raised his arm up, aiming it straight forward and yelled. "Go men! For this may change the survival of the people!" The CCG soldiers cheered loudly and charged as fast as they could towards the mansion, being careful as they cautiously looked about. They were surprised to find that the other was unlocked, finding it suspicious. They tried to search for any signs of hidden ghouls, yet none were in sight.

For a while, they thought they would not find anything. However, luck was by their side in the end. They were able to find a basement room, one that seemed like any ordinary. They passed by a place stacked with what appeared to be wine, yet they continued marching up ahead, feeling a slight bit uneasy to how long the bricked-hall was. There were lights on the ceiling that had visible steel bars stacked on top in a well separated way. However, they began to get weary and thought they might not find anything.

CCG Soldier 1: "Sir!" He spoke on his walkie-talkie right away as the whole group halted.

Marude: The man quickly clattered for the radio and pressed a button to hear the other. "What is it!?" he quickly responded.

CCG Soldier 1: "There seems to be no sign of Akihiro Kanou! We are at a basement, but there's no sign of anyone here!"

Marude: "FOOL! You're not looking correctly! Did you think I let Arima waste his breath down there!? That's why he's there in the first place!"

CCG Soldier 1: "What do you—"

Arima: "Think like a ghoul." The solider soon turned around quickly, feeling surprised that the strongest man in the CCG had been standing a few paces away from him. The white-haired man stepped ahead, staring at the brick wall as he traced his fingers on the brick wall. His eyes narrowed slightly as his hand halted. He pressed his ear to the brick wall, and could identify the sign of movement. He stepped back and raised his arm signalizing the others to do the same. He snapped his suitcase open; he took out his Quinque and snapped open his ukaku weapon named Narukami. He pointed it up ahead towards the brickwall. "Make way." His ukaku soon bolted open like a rose and shot electrical volts, instantly destroying the brick wall as well as chunks of it flew around the floor, though Arima kept watch for any who got injured in the process, but didn't find any of his men injured.

The CCG soldiers soon gasped in shock to what was ahead. The wall had a meat-looking structure that kept wiggling and pulsing like a heart. Their faces soon twisted in disgust, though they were more terrified then anything. Arima soon stepped into the hole that revealed a metallic-looking hall. It held lights on top, shining down upon the floor. The soldiers kept wary sights, looking around everywhere.

Arima continued pacing, though he gazed back towards the young man who stood out from the rest of the CCG soldiers.

Arima: "Are you regretting your decision of me letting you come with us?" He asked, his tone sounding neutral. The dirty-blond haired male looked up at Arima's question. He frowned a bit and soon smiled slightly.

Hideyoshi: "No, I've been—through more things, I think." He spoke as he laughed slightly, though his laugh held no amusement, just that he had been used to doing it so much, he often forgot when he could do it or not. "I mean, this is what I chose to do. And, the suit isn't so bad." He looked at the uniform, seeing how heavy duty the soldiers were. "This kind of reminds me of all does games I once played with Kane—"His words were cut off by a sound that made every CCG soldier halt. The sound once more echoed, though it made their spines shiver in fear.

What they were hearing was a high-pitched scream, mixed with a sound of something hitting metallic walls as well as many other things they couldn't identify. Aside from everyone, only Hideyoshi was able to identify such a scream.

Hideyoshi: "Kaneki?..." He questioned with wide eyes, though his throat turning dry. He imagined the worse of what could be happening to him, but what terrified him the most was how unnatural that sound was.

Arima: "Everyone, we must charge. Right Now."
