She gasped in surprise when Prince Niles smiled and bowed politely before taking her gloved hand, bringing it to his lips for a kiss.

"H-hello." She said, unable to hide the nervousness in her voice.

"Hello." He replied in a voice as soft as silk. "I don't believe that we've met."

She smiled. "No, I don't believe we have."

"My name is Prince Niles. And you are?"

She opened her mouth to answer, but at that very second the orchestra began to play a beautiful waltz and Daphne felt Prince Niles lead her onto the dance floor. And suddenly she was in his arms, dancing and twirling across the expansive marble floor that glistened like the sun.

She was not only faintly aware of the spotlight that shone upon them, but that every other guest had stopped dancing and all eyes were watching her as she moved around the room with the handsome Prince. He seemed to be unaware of the situation as well for they only had eyes for each other. She couldn't get over how handsome he was. His eyes were bluer than every picture of the ocean that she'd ever seen and his blonde hair sparkled beneath the glittering lights overhead. It was the most magical moment of her life.

They continued to dance to a song that seemed oh so familiar and she found herself humming along. But how was that possible? And was it just her imagination or was he humming as well? He had the sweetest voice she'd ever heard and she found that she could listen to it all night.
The song ended and as before he bowed politely. She curtsied, as she had seen women do in books, for she hoped it was the right thing to do. If it wasn't, Prince Niles didn't seem to mind.

Another song began then; a slower, even more romantic tune than the waltz. Once more, Prince Niles took her into his arms and she leaned against him, daring to close her eyes but for a moment. And it was in that moment that she could feel his heart beating as she rested her head against his chest. He smelled so good, like powder and musk and she wanted to remember the scent (and this moment) for the rest of her life.

They danced onto the balcony, hidden from sight from the other guests as the stars twinkled overhead. He led her down the stairs into the most beautiful garden she'd ever seen. There were fountains spouting rainbows of water into the air that cascaded softly into pools that were as blue as Prince Niles beautiful eyes.

It was in this exquisite garden beneath the stars and the glowing full moon that they continued their dance. The music from the castle could no longer be heard but the music in her heart was all she needed.
