Chapter 14: Mari
Jenny's POV
Getting out of the temple was by far the most amazing thing ever. I mean, yeah it wasn't that bad being in there but… I don't know. Maybe it's because I know I won't starve now that I'm out. It must be the afternoon or evening. Dad said something about us being out for like half a day. Whoa ok, that dad thing came naturally. But, do I call him dad or the Doctor? I was about to ask him about that but he spoke first.
'Why did Torchwood put you in Australia?' I can answer this. I'm so smart!
'You, like, always have adventures in England or whatever and you have never gone to Australia. So to protect me and to stop you running into me too early they put me there because it would be easier to make sure I didn't die during some invasion. Yeah Australia got affected during the worldwide invasions but never really the minor ones. So Torchwood replaced me with another ganger to live my life during the invasion and I never had memory of the invasion. Apparently it was supposed to protect me somehow. That makes no sense.' I think he was going to say something more but then the crowd came.
At first they stood there dumbfounded wondering about how we got out. I don't know if you would call it fan-girling but it was like that. After getting over their shock they started getting all excited and overjoyed. They kept asking how we got out. Just then someone came along. And you'll never guess who. It was that evil lady.
'Well, look whose back.' She scowled.
'What happened?' she demanded.
'Well you see, king Tredier does not wish to receive any more gifts. But he does want a child to still come in to visit him. He had devised a new… method if you want to call it that. So, you don't need to worry anymore because from now on all the children will come home.' There was something in the Doctors voice. I don't know if it was resentment for this person but he sounded almost angry with this woman.
'How do we know you're not lying? He could have told you to say something else that would ensure your death and you're lying.' Oh come on!
'If you have a problem with what your king says than you should go consult him yourself!' I am so sick of this woman. I don't care who she is I will shout at her if I like. Just then a guard came up to her.
'Mari, shouldn't we make this request public. It would be what he wanted.' Mari? This evil cow is Mari!
'Only if that is what he indeed wanted.'
'Oh I assure you it is. On my hearts. And… he also wanted to talk to you.' Mari looks at the Doctor.
'King Tredier wants to talk to me?' she repeated slowly. He nods… a bit too eagerly. So Mari then goes into the temple and the doors close behind her.
3rd Person POV
Mari walked slowly towards the alter where the kings body was. What could he want with me? She wondered. An image of king Tredier appeared and she bowed to him.
'You disappoint me Mari. You have treated my guests poorly and have been rude and unfair to them.' She knew this was true, she knew where this was going. And there was nothing she could say to change his mind.
'First, I want you to tell the others that what the Doctor says is true.' She stood up to leave but he told her to stop.
'The radio Mari the radio. There is no way you're leaving now.' So, Mari radioed that what the Doctor said was true. Children would still come into the temple but no more gifts and they would go home. Suddenly the ghosts of the children appeared and surrounded Mari.
'The Doctor did tell you he would find a replacement. Look at you, scared out of your wits. You fear death. I will NOT handle my guests being treated like criminals. And they were under your protection Mari. You failed your job. Therefore you must pay with your life.'
Jenny's POV
We could hear screams coming from the temple and I was afraid of what that might mean. Someone then nudged my shoulder, looking round it was the Doctor.
'I thought you handled all of that really well.' Well I'd say otherwise but if he thinks I did well, I won't shatter his spirit.
'Being honest I can't wait to get back to the TARDIS. I'd like to end this adventure.' We were given a celebratory feast and after that we went back to the TARDIS. I just stood there in the doorway for a bit. Don't ask me why, I just did.
'Look at this.' The Doctor called. I went over to the monitor and the Doctor showed me something that looked like DNA.
'What is it? Because it looks like DNA.'
'It is DNA, yours. I was very impatient and so I thought I'll do a blood test just in case and for the TARDIS to show me when we got back. Of course you then said you would tell me after but that didn't exactly go to plan did it.' I shake my head. No, it didn't go to plan. Because if it did I would be explaining it now. I know this is weird but I'm kind of glad I explained it in the temple, it was forced onto me. There was no way I could get out of it whereas here I could procrastinate for another month if I wanted.
'Anyway it shows that you are a Time Lady. And if you did wait till now to explain I would be confused and a little freaked of how you're a Time Lady and I never guessed.' Well, I would be worried if it said I wasn't a Time Lady. Ok, time for my question.
'Um. This is going to sound weird but. Do you want me to call you dad or Doctor?' look… being honest I can't go back to life on earth. It was always going to be temporary. So now I'm going to move in here, and if so I need to know.
'I'd say dad at most times but if needed then you should call me Doctor.' I just nod my head.
'Another thing. Can I go home?' I know I just said I can't go back but I did tell him I wanted to go back to school and finish off year 12. And now I can go back and know he won't leave me there. Dad nods his head.
'OK. If you want.' So I go and get back into my uniform and write dad a note saying what date and time and place he can pick me up.
The TARDIS lands on the oval again in the same place where it was before. Apparently we had been gone for 5 minutes.
'Isn't it weird? I was gone for a month and yet here we are back at school the same day we met and 5 minutes has passed.' Dad started laughing.
'Welcome to the life of a time traveller.'
oOo
Yay chapter's done… I've no comment. Except. Thank you doctor Legolas for finally putting up my other chapters (fun fact, the other chapters were put up five weeks late) look, please don't hate her, life is busy. Really busy if you're her. And she doesn't have a TARDIS. But thank you so much for putting the chapters up in general.
Ok, this is Doctor Legolas. I actually got this chapter out the day I got it. Which was today. So… Yeah.
