Chapter 11-Unfrozen
Rapunzel rushed to her daughter's now frozen form, and collapsed on top of it. Jack rushed to her side, eyes rimmed with tears. Everyone stared at the frozen princess in shock, and North bowed his head in respect and grief. The rest of the Guardians followed, and so did the townspeople.
Kristoff fell to his knees, distraught. Sven led Marta back to the square and stopped when he noticed the scene. Marta leapt off of the sled and rushed to her brother's side. Then, Elsa's fingertips began to turn to flesh, and the rest of her body followed suit as the spell began to break.
"Look!" Marta yelled, pointing at Elsa. Everyone's heads turned toward Elsa as the transformation took place. Soon, Elsa was awakened and Rapunzel and Jack engulfed her in their arms. "Are you okay? Are you alright, Elsa?" Rapunzel asked, trying to check every inch of her daughter.
Elsa waved her mother's hands away and said, "I'm fine, promise. I feel…warm." She smiled and Elsa realized something. "That's it! I know how to break the curse…how to stop the storm and Pitch's magic!"
"What is it?" Jack asked.
"I need everyone to link hands. Quickly! We don't have much time!" Elsa glanced up as Pitch's cloud of dark magic began to seep its way toward the North Mountains. Once it got beyond Arendelle's borders, it would be too powerful for Elsa to stop it.
"Everyone grab hands, quickly! We need to stop the storm!" Rapunzel shouted to everyone in the loudest voice she could manage.
The townspeople glanced at one another before slowly linking hands. The Guardians joined them and Kristoff grabbed Elsa's other hand as one was already holding Rapunzel's. He grinned at her and she smiled back. "You can do this. I believe in you," he whispered to her.
Elsa nodded and squeezed his hand. Soon, everyone was in a circle, and Elsa began to try to lift the spell. The snow beneath her feet began to fade away and she could feel her magic begin to spread across Arendelle. The sky was clearing, the temperature began to warm up, and the fjord began to melt from ice to water.
The power of the people she loved ignited something in her, and made her feel more powerful than afraid. This time, her powers would be used for good, and she had people who were on her side, rather than against her. That was all of the power that she needed.
However, Pitch's spell was still too strong, and she could barely reach his magic. Every time she got close enough, his magic would lash out like a whip, causing her to flinch and her magic to recoil. She soon began to fear that it wouldn't be enough.
"The cloud is still spreading, Elsa," North notified her. Elsa responded, "I know, but every time I get close to it, it fights back. I can't go near it. I'm not strong enough."
Rapunzel squeezed her daughter's hand and said, "Yes, you are. You are my daughter, and a future queen. I believe you are strong enough, and you can do this."
"But how? We're running out of time!"
"The moon crystal. Use the moon crystal. Pitch used it to create the storm, so it can be used to destroy it. Your magic and the moon crystal's power will be enough, Elsa," Richard explained suddenly.
"He's right, Sheila. You'll be able to stop it," Bunnymund agreed.
"Here, Elsa! I have it!" Marta exclaimed. She ran over to the sled and pulled out the moon crystal. Then, she handed it to Elsa.
"Where did you find it?" Sarah asked.
"I found it beside the boogeyman. I just took it. I thought it was pretty, Mama."
Sarah sighed and pulled Marta to her side as Elsa held the moon crystal tight. It began to glow and Rapunzel took her daughter's hand. Jack took Elsa's other hand, and Elsa closed her eyes. She opened her palm and let the magic to the rest.
This time, she could feel her magic race across Arendelle, and head towards the cloud. When her power reached it, it didn't hesitate. It broke right through without pause and crush the dark magic bit by bit. Pitch's army let out howls of pain as they were slowly consumed by the light emitting from Elsa's powers. Elsa opened her eyes and saw the cloud slowly disappear until it was no more.
The moon crystal suddenly went dormant, and Elsa gasped as all of her power snapped back to her body. She stumbled a bit from the impact, but her parents steadied her. She looked up at them and smiled as the sun began to peak over the horizon.
It was over.
She won.
She defeated Pitch.
And most importantly, her family was safe and together again.
"Where is he?" Elsa asked shortly after the battle.
"Don't worry, honey, Roman will stay in that cell for the rest of his days. You won't have to worry about him anymore," Rapunzel explained as they took a walk around the kingdom to survey the damage that was to be repaired.
"I'm not talking about Roman, mother."
"Don't worry, I'm handling it. Speaking of which…" Rapunzel smiled as North's sled landed right in front of the pier. Hans was clutching the seat for dear life.
Elsa let out a small laugh since Hans seemed a little worse for wear from being unexpectedly airborne. "Found what you were looking for, Queeny. Sorry bub was trying to sneak out of the front gates," Bunnymund explained.
"However, we managed to catch the scoundrel before he escaped. You, sir, are now on naughty list for life!" North said pointing with at Hans with his sword.
Hans sank lower into his seat, absolutely terrified. Rapunzel held up her hand and called over some guards. Once Hans was shackles, she said, "Boys, thank you for your help, but that's enough. I'm sure his 12 big brothers will want to hear about this, as well as the king and queen. Going forward, I degree that Prince Hans of the Southern Isles is banned from ever setting foot in Arendelle."
"Don't I get a say in the matter, mother?" Elsa asked.
"Sure, dear. What would you like to say?"
Elsa took a step toward Hans. "Well, I don't have many words, but…" Then, she punched Hans in the nose. Hans groaned in pain. Everyone blinked in surprise as at Elsa's sudden violent act, but then Bunnymund and North erupted into laughter. Rapunzel cracked a smile, and Jack, suddenly appearing behind her, whispered in her ear, "That's our girl."
Hans was ushered away to a nearby boat, and Elsa rubbed her knuckles. "So, did you manage to find Pitch?" Elsa asked.
Sandy appeared by her feet and shook his head. He motioned that they had searched the whole kingdom and the mountains, but he had disappeared. "We searched everywhere, Elsa, but there's no trace of him anywhere," Tooth said as she flew to Elsa's side.
"So where could he be? What happened?"
"I spoke to the trolls and they believe that you weakened him greatly, much more than Jack and Rapunzel did 18 years ago. Love and light is something that is hard for Pitch to understand fully, and so when there is so much of it, and it is strong, it easily overpowers him. He can never be killed, as there will always be darkness and evil in the world, but he can be defeated by love, loyalty, and good. That's how you won, Elsa. Your heart proved to be greater than his, and you were able to reverse your curse and stop his dark magic," North explained.
"But he will return. Maybe not in your lifetime, but he will come back," Tooth agreed.
"And we'll always be here to stop him when that day comes," Jack said.
Xxx
A few months later, the kingdom was slowly mending itself and trying to ease back into normalcy. However, festivities were to take place because Elsa was going to be crowned as the new Queen of Arendelle. Rapunzel stood off to the side with Jack, both of them smiling at their daughter proudly.
She was nervous as the priest recited the ancient chant that he bestowed upon all of the royals, and she could feel her powers begin to seep out. She glanced at Kristoff, who was dressed in proper formal attire and was sitting on the front row with his family. Sarah was now an advisor considering everything she went through for Elsa. This allowed for her and the kids to have a better house and more food, plus a bigger stable for Sven.
Kristoff sent Elsa a smile, and she smiled back as she was now crowned the new Queen.
"I now present, Queen Elsa of Arendelle!" the priest announced.
"Queen Elsa of Arendelle!" the crowd chanted in response.
This time, the gates were opened and Elsa, wearing her Snow Queen dress, created a winter wonderland in the castle square. She let the magic spread from her feet to create an icy floor, and froze both of the fountains.
Soon, the townspeople began skating around the square, happy to have a cold setting in the middle of summer. Kristoff slipped and grabbed hold of a nearby fountain as he tried to steady himself. "This is amazing, Elsa. It looks absolutely beautiful. I love it!" he smiled.
"I knew you would. I got something for you," she said as she pulled out a medal. A snowflake was engraved on it and she placed it over his neck.
"What is this?" he asked staring at the medal.
"I've named you the Official Ice Master and Deliverer."
"Thanks. But that's not a thing…"
"It is now. I'm the queen," Elsa grinned.
"Well, thanks. This…means a lot to me."
"I'm glad." Elsa glanced away and Kristoff looked down at his feet.
Kristoff decided to begin to say something, but then, Rapunzel and Jack skated over to them. Rapunzel slipped right into her daughter's arms and embraced her. Tears were running down her face.
"Are you okay, mother?" Elsa asked concerned.
"I'm just…I'm just so happy!" Rapunzel blubbered.
"Are you sure? I mean, you've been sick, crying a lot, sleeping a lot, eating a lot of chocolate…"
Rapunzel blushed and glanced at Jack. Jack smiled at her and nodded, squeezing her shoulder. "Did I miss something?" Elsa asked Kristoff.
Kristoff grinned once he realized what was happening. Then, he said, "No, unless you haven't noticed your mother's stomach."
"What? Why would I…wait, WHAT?!" Elsa asked incredulous.
Elsa didn't say it out loud, but the question was dangling in her eyes. Rapunzel and Jack smiled wider and both nodded their heads in unison.
Then, Elsa hugged her parents in joy. She couldn't believe it, but it was happening. At 18 years old, she wasn't going to be an only child anymore.
"Wow! This is amazing. I mean it, I'm really happy for you!" Elsa grinned.
"We are too," Rapunzel replied.
"I think you should name her Anna if it's a girl," Marta said suddenly. She was peeking out from behind Kristoff's legs.
"I think Anna is a great name," Jack agreed.
"Me too," Elsa also agreed.
Then, they proceeded to hug once more before Elsa took a reluctant Kristoff by the hand to help him skate around the square.
THE END
AN: So that's it! I hoped you guys liked my little Anna twist at the end. And I left the Kristoff/Elsa thing kind of ambiguous since I added Anna in at the end so it didn't feel right writing them together.
No, there won't be a sequel since I won't have time to write one since I'm starting 2 new stories. But thanks to all of you who read this story and enjoyed it. Thank you so much.
