Queen Helena rushed down the hall towards Cyrus' room. Without a shadow of a doubt she knew he was the one responsible for everything. For her son's death, for her husband lying in a hospital bed fighting to survive, for her public humiliation over the twin's paternity. It was time the bastard pay.
There was no hesitation as she flung open the door to his bedroom.
"Cyrus! Cyrus, wake up!" she demanded as she came to stand at the foot of his bed.
Groggily he opened his eyes, "What the hell do you want? Are you insane? I'll have you beheaded for waking me up like this."
The Queen laughed, "That's rich coming from you. I'm going to give you one chance to tell me the truth and then I plan on shooting you, Cyrus." Helena haphazardly flashed the gun as she said the last part.
Fully awake, Cyrus sat up in the bed. "What is that? WHY DO YOU HAVE A GUN?! GUARD! GUARD!"
"It's too late Cyrus, the guards can't help you. I want the truth now. Did you kill my son? Did you stab your brother?" The queen asked, almost eerily calm.
"You bitch, you're insane. I'm about to be the King of England, you can't touch me. And you sure as hell can't shoot me. I don't have to listen to this." Cyrus yelled in reply. As he attempted to take a step out of the bed, Helena raised the gun. In one swift move she flicked off the safety and fired.
"AHHHH! FUCK! OH MY GOD!" Cyrus screamed, as the lamp beside his bed exploded. He stopped moving, opting to fall back onto the bed.
"I wasn't aiming for you, you piece of shit. That was your warning shot. NOW, I WANT THE TRUTH." Helena said through gritted teeth. "Did you kill my son?"
Ted Pryce was immediately alerted as soon as the first shot was fired. As head of security, there was no down time; any security breach or threat required his presence. A gun shot in the palace, that was code black. He took off in full sprint towards Cyrus's quarters. All he needed was to lose another member of the Royal Family.
Eleanor awoke to a loud pop. She sat up trying to gather her bearings. "Mum, did you hear that?" she asked. Glancing over, she did a double take. Her mother's side of the bed was empty.
Boone's warning came back to her, "your family isn't safe." Frantically, she raced for the door trying to locate her mum. As she entered the hall, Eleanor spotted Ted Pryce sprinting towards the opposite end of the palace. Fearing the worst, she took off after him.
A faint squeeze of his hand caused Liam to open his eyes. Drowsily he looked up into his father's eyes. "Dad, oh my god, you're awake. Let me get someone." Before Liam could get up, his father squeezed his hand again indicating for him to stay.
"Don't try to speak ok, you've still got a breathing tube in. Everyone is going to be so happy you're awake. We've been so worried. It's been a nightmare without you dad. So much has happened. You were in a coma for almost a week, mum just had you moved back here." Just as Liam was about to tell his father more, he heard what sounded like a shot.
King Simon's eyes widened with concern as he heard it to. Releasing Liam's hand, so slowly lifted his arm towards the door. In understanding, Liam said, "I'll be right back dad. There's someone right outside the door."
"Cyrus, you better start talking right now, or I won't wait for the answers. I'll just shoot you and then let security, MI-6, and whoever else figure it out." Helena raised the gun at him as she spoke.
Maybe it was the calmness of her voice, or the sincerity in her eyes as she spoke, or the fact The Queen of England was currently pointing a gun at him, but Cyrus was afraid.
"Fine! Ok, just don't shoot me. I did it okay." Cyrus raised his hands as he spoke to indicate surrender.
Just as he admitted the truth, there was movement out of the corner of his eye. There stood Ted Pryce, gun drawn, and right on his heels, Princess Eleanor.
"Oh my God, mum, what are you doing?!" said Eleanor.
"Your majesty, put down the gun, please." Asked Pryce, as he immediately noticed how shaky her hand was.
"Not yet, Mr. Pryce. Cyrus here is about to tell the whole truth." Stated the Queen.
"Pryce, help me! I'm being attached!" shouted Cyrus.
Instead of moving to help, Ted Pryce lowered his weapon. "You'd better tell her what she wants to know. Her hand doesn't look too steady."
"Speak, you bastard." Helena said, as she shook the gun at her husband's brother.
Seeing there was no way out, Cyrus started to speak. "I had Luscious make a call to someone he knows who arranged for Robert's plane to go down. I did it. I had the little prick killed. It was supposed to look like a suicide so no questions would be asked."
A tear slid down Helena's cheek. "And what about Simon?"
"He was the easiest part of all. All I had to do was wait until he went out on one of his walks. I snuck up behind him; he never saw me coming. You just figured it out before I had the chance to finish him off for good." There was pride in his voice as he spoke.
Liam ran up behind Eleanor just in time to hear Cyrus' confession about the King, "I'll kill you! I'll rip you apart!" he tried to push past Eleanor but she placed a hand on his arm, as Ted Pryce blocked his way.
"Mum's got this, Liam." Eleanor said.
"Oh, shut up," Cyrus said looking at Liam.
"What else did you do, Cyrus? I want the whole truth, for everyone to hear." Helena demanded.
"The paternity was a fake. The little ingrates were never tested. That's it." Cyrus admitted. "There isn't anything else."
Helena lowered her gun, "Mr. Pryce, do you have everything you need, or can I just shoot the bastard and save our country the embarrassment of an execution."
"It won't be necessary, ma'am. I've got everything I need." Pryce answered as he walked over and took the gun from the Queen. "Cyrus, come with me. If you try to run I will shoot you without hesitation." He continued on, "Ma'am, I will need to talk to you. Can you also come with me?"
Helena nodded, "Give me a few minutes and I'll meet you there. I just need to speak to my children first."
She walked towards the twins, only to be engulfed in a hug. "Mum oh my god, are you crazy? I was so worried! I heard the pop and then you weren't there and I, I was scared for you!" Said Eleanor.
"I can't believe you just did that," Liam said before his mother even had a chance to respond. He grinned at her, "That was brave, mum. Would you have really shot him?" he asked her.
Wrapping an arm around each twin, Helena began walking them back towards her on room. "You better believe I would have."
Eleanor was the next to speak, "how did you know? When I woke you up, I didn't say anything about it being Cyrus."
"It was what you told me, Eleanor, that and what I already knew. Somehow it all made sense." The Queen answered.
"What are you both talking about? What did you tell her, Eleanor?" Liam questioned.
"Eleanor can fill you in, Liam? I've got to go see Ted. Make sure he buries Cyrus under this palace, and Luscious right there with him." Helena responded.
"Oh my god, I can't believe I didn't tell you both sooner!" Liam all but shouted. " Dad's awake! I was in there before the shot went off and he woke up!"
"Dad's awake?! I've got to go see him!" Eleanor smiled. "Well, let's go!" She looked to Liam and her mother.
"You both go ahead. I need to go see Ted, and I'm not sure your father is going to want to see me right now." The Queen said as she glanced down shamefully.
"Are you kidding me, after what you've done for this family? After what you just did? He's going to want to see you, mum." Eleanor said, taking a step towards her mother.
"Yeah, mum, Len is right. He's going to want to see you." Liam seconded.
Helena gave each child a hug, "Go. I'll be there soon. Okay? Just don't be shocked if I'm escorted out of the palace." She gave a hesitant laugh as she pushed both twins towards in the direction of their father's room.
