A/N: Hey guys! It feels great to continue writing this story and finishing up what I started! I am glad to announce that this story will have a total of 20 chapters, so I have 9 chapters left. I plan to finish this story over the next few months. My writing skills have grown tremendously since I've written these stories so expect things to be a whole lot better. I've been going to past chapter and tediously fixing major grammar mistakes and things that didn't make any sense.
The next chapter is really long and juicy; I promise no one sees it coming!
I also changed the covers of my two stories hope you enjoy them :) Feel free to PM me with ideas or comments about this story, I always reply :))
Also, I started a story on Wattpad called "The Adventures of Stephanie and Daniel" It's a ton of cute one shots about my two characters Stephanie and Daniel! Feel free to follow me on there too: my user is cliffordamage. Follow me on twitter too! Its defensehes!
Any who, a very long awaited Chapter 12! Enjoy!
Five's POV
As the next few days rolled by, the guilt slowly gnawed at me. I dedicated any time I had by myself to practice my telekinesis. Slowly, but surely my telekinesis improved greatly. I was almost able to lift a human body off the floor and levitate them for a couple seconds. Although, anytime I attempted that I had almost past out. Practice makes perfect, I suppose.
John tried to spare any time he had to help me, which wasn't very much. I could practically smell Nine's suspicion whenever I am near him. We didn't want the others to suspect me either so John and I barely made contact outside of our bedroom.
I had managed to avoid any legacy fights considering my mediocre telekinesis wouldn't get me very far. I had been trying to come up with ideas on how to tell the Garde my secrets; every idea didn't end up very well.
I had pondered whether I should even tell them about my facial shifting, that was one secret I was willing to take to the grave. Every day I remember my vow to never go back to my actual features; it brought back way too many bad memories. I wasn't strong enough to face that yet.
I had also failed to mention the fact that I couldn't shoot a gun or even use a knife. Furthermore, I couldn't throw a mean right hook, unlike every other person in this house.
I had trusted John enough to tell him about my lack of telekinesis; I was lucky enough that it ended well. I just wasn't ready to reveal the full truth to him. I needed him by my side even if I wasn't being completely honest with him.
I had learned from the moments that I shared with him, that his baby blue eyes often hid sadness. Sure he was kind to me and seemed pretty happy, but I saw past his façade. It wasn't my place to ask considering how compromising my position was at the moment. It sucked to sit by and watch a person slowly crumble.
I could only hope one day in the future we could be honest with each other because I didn't mind John that much. In fact, I didn't mind him one bit.
Little did I know, that my secrets would be spilled soon whether I liked it or not. This time there was no happy ending like there was with John.
I had a terribly long day today. Nine really tried to dish it out on me, trying to take me down harder than ever before. I had pushed my limits with my legacy, using my legacy for hours at a time really drained me.
As soon as the fight training had ceased, I ran into the shower. I took my sweet time getting all the dirt and grime off my body. I knew that as soon as I would get out, we would all meet up again for dinner; which I wasn't looking forward to. Nine had managed to slowly crawl up my nerves; I was a ticking time bomb.
I quickly step out and put my clothes on. I take a look in the mirror and see my fabricated self. I make eye contact with my pale green eyes and for a second I yearned to see my real eyes.
I quickly look away and make my way back into my room. I run a brush through my hair and head down stairs.
I see John and Marina whizz and dance around the kitchen preparing us all dinner. I watched as they worked in harmony, one chopped while the other stirred. They worked seamlessly using their telekinesis; it was quite mesmerizing to see actually. I cleared my throat at the door and John looked up.
He sent me a charming smile and I couldn't help, but to return it.
I quickly mouth to him, "Can we practice tonight?"
I burned with embarrassment, I wasn't used to talking to people especially for help. It didn't help either that John was ridiculously attractive while he didn't even know what I actually looked like. Heck even I was slowly forgetting my true appearance.
His smile broadened and he set me a quick almost unperceivable nod. He returned working on some fish he was cooking while I took out the plates and set the table.
Somehow John's smile never leaves my head and leaves me with a small grin on my face for the time being.
Within 15 minutes, everyone is sitting down with yummy fish tacos set in-front of them. My happy mood was quickly diminished when Nine decided to open his mouth.
"Why the hell are you so happy?", he snapped at me.
The small smile on my face quickly disappeared and was replaced with a deep scowl.
" So I've lost the right to be happy now?", I snap back at him.
He smirks as if this amuses him; I had no idea that soon he would regret ever bothering me in the first place.
" Stop being an asshole Nine. ", Six warns him.
He mutters something, but let the topic drop.
We proceeded to eat the delicious tacos placed in front of us, food really did bring people together.
Of course this calm mood didn't last very long because Nine had no idea how to keep his mouth shut.
"So tomorrow we will all be legacy training and fighting.", he announces.
Everyone seems to be okay with it yet I am frozen on the spot. I had tried to avoid this topic for quite some time.
Then, he proceeds to look at me straight in the eye.
"Sweetheart, don't even try to worm your way out of this one. I don't care how sick you feel. I'll shove the damn healing stone down your throat if I have to.", he practically growls at me.
Six glares ferociously at her boyfriend. Everyone else seemed slightly taken aback by his direct rudeness towards me. John looks furious, his cobalt eyes blazing. My uneasiness grows, this time it is accompanied by annoyance.
I stand up and storm out of there. I rush up to my room and sit on the bed, feeling rather exasperated. Nine was really set on pushing my buttons and I wasn't going to sit there and take it from him.
I hear John spit venomous words at Nine down below. I hear his thundering steps running up the stairs and two seconds later he busts through the door.
I look up slightly surprised, he wasn't obligated to defend me.
"You okay Five?", he asks tenderly.
My eyes widen tremendously.
"Yeah, I've learned not to be too bothered by Nine's insolent words. Thanks for asking though, you didn't have to come up here.", I reply while looking down and the floor.
John walks towards me and sits down next to me on our bed.
"Well we're friends now and it's my job to look after my friends.", he says warmly.
My heart soars at his words and I turn the darkest shade of red.
"That's really sweet John. Thanks.", I reply shyly.
" So how about that practice?", he says and bumps his shoulder lightly against mine.
The hours quickly tick by with John. Soon, everyone is asleep and we are the only ones awake. We spend lots of time practicing, but find time to fool around too.
After some hours and multiple breaks, I am rapidly drained of energy.
" One last practice, okay? Try to pick me up off the bed for 30 seconds. Ready?", John asks tiredly.
I was glad to know that I wasn't the only one that was exhausted.
I give him a quick nod.
He sits Indian style on the center of the bed waiting patiently.
I take my stance and raise my arms. I concentrate solely on John. I picture him cheering me on after I manage to successfully lift him in the air for 30 seconds.
Soon, I feel the power surge through my hands. Slowly and steadily, John rises gradually until the top of his head hits the roof slightly.
His fatigued blue eyes light up with joy. Maybe it was because I was about to collapse ,but I swear I saw the sadness beneath his eye disappear.
I feel elated, but this elation comes the feeling of lightheadedness.
" Ten more seconds, Five. You can do!", John cheered me on.
My forehead broke into a sweat and I can feel myself shake.
The next ten seconds were absolutely eternal, but I managed to plow through. I drop John with a soft plop and I breakdown onto the bed.
Stars swam in my vision and Four's words seemed to be drowned out. My eyes barely focused on the white ceiling, John's face suddenly popped up near mine. I could see his lips moving ,but his words don't register.
My vision turns even hazier and darkness slowly starts to coat me . John's face is really close to mine and if I could I probably would have blushed. I feel his hands on my shoulders and he is shaking me. His lips keep moving and he looks frantic.
I feel John's hand encase mine and feel his iciness spread down to my body.
The exhaustion gently takes over and I beckon it.
John's anxious face is the last thing I remember before sleep takes the reigns.
