I woke up with everyone around me, and the feeling of hurling. I couldn't believe it. I saw Mason… Mason Ashford. Mason had the only crush on me, but I didn't like him back. One year on winter break, when the academy went on a trip to a resort down in Idaho to be safe from the strigoi Mason went with some others to kills some strigoi out of anger at me. Anyway long story short, the strigoi kidnapped us and Mason died trying to save me. I felt like it was my fault, even though Lissa tried to convince me it wasn't.

I sit up on the bed and look around. We were in my motel room. I saw the worried faces of Vlad and Lissa, but Otis looked curious and Nelly looked concerned. I loath people feeling concerned for me. I don't need anyone's pity or approval. I got angry.

"I'm fine, can you all just fucking get away from me," I shout.

"Whoa what's with the attitude?" Vlad asks.

"Rose we are sorry for bothering you when you woke up. Would you like to talk about what happened?" Nelly asks.

"NO I just want you all to get out," I yell again.

"Rose," Lissa says soothingly. She places one hand on my shoulder. I have the biggest weak spot for Lissa. I could never ever be rude to her.

"I'm sorry Lis, I just got so angry. I mean everyone is looking at me like a hurt little puppy, and I'm not," I say.

"I understand Rose," Lissa says.

"I know you do. I would like to talk about it," I say. I look at everyone just standing there.

"I think she means with just me guys, sorry," Lissa says. They all turn and walk out the door. As soon as they're gone I look at Lissa.

"I saw Mason," I blurt out. Lissa just looks at me.

"I know," She says calmly.

"What do you mean by 'I know'?" I ask. She starts to fidget and I become suspicious.

"I just… I mean… I can't explain it Rose I'm sorry," She says. She starts to walk towards the door.

"Lissa wait," I say. It was too late though. She was already out the door. As soon as she leaves Vlad walks in. I look at him and turn away. He walks towards the bed and hops in next to me. I feel so comfortable with him, but he can never know about the bond Lissa and I share. It's a one-way street. I can get a peek into Lissa's life and make sure she's ok. I did it a lot when they sent me away from the academy.

I stood up the whole night thinking about how Lissa could've known I saw Mason. How could she know? It's impossible. She couldn't have known. I can't get any sleep and I'm pretty sure that it's bad. I'm going to become an insomniac, I think to myself. I look at the desk next to me and name all the things I see in my head. I see a water bottle, a lamp, and a pen. I continue to name everything I saw until the sun came out.
