Chapter 12
Alyssa's POV
I really miss Mum right now, but at least Uncle Will is here so I've stuck close to him and his father. Uncle Will was really surprised to see me the night that I was taken from my mum. I still remember it clearly how I cried, kicked, and fought trying to get out of my captors hold only to be slammed on the ground right beside Uncle Will.
Right now I was watching a game that some of the fish man crew was playing as I stood beside Uncle Will. Both of us were studying the game in front of us. "Wondering how it's played?" a voice asked behind us. Uncle Will and I both turned to see his father standing there with a slight smile on his face.
Uncle Will answered him saying that he understood how it was played that it was a game of deception?… I don't think I know what that word means… I think it means when someone tells you a lie and makes it sound like the truth so you believe them.
Uncle Will also said something about the dice, but I wasn't really pay attention because I was trying to figure out what deception meant. "Right, Alyssa?" Uncle Will questioned. "Yeah… I guess," I replied with a shrug feeling really confused.
I felt Uncle Will's hand on my shoulder trying to comfort me. "Are you thinking about yer mum, girl?" Uncle Will's father asked as he smiled down at me. I stood there for a moment then nodded slowly with a sad sigh.
Uncle Will leaned down to my ear, and whispered, "I promise I'll get you out of here, so that you can reunite with your parents again." I looked up at him with wide eyes and smiled. "Really?!" I whisper shouted excitedly. Uncle Will nodded with a smile as I wrapped my tiny arms around his neck and hugged him.
"Thank you, Uncle Will," I whispered as I let go of his neck. He smiled then turns to his dad to ask what the crew members were betting. His dad answered that they were betting years of service. This led Uncle Will next question which was if any crew member could be challenged, and his father replied that they could.
"I challenge Davy Jones!" Uncle Will dared. I froze as I looked up at him with wide eyes. 'Did he just really challenge the same man that had me taken from Mum and Daddy?' I thought fearfully.
Soon after the challenge was issued the man, if you could call him that, himself appeared and accepted his challenge.
The game was underway after the wagers were made. If Uncle Will won we got the key that Daddy had been looking for, and him and I would be free to go. If he didn't well then both of us had to serve an extra one hundred years. The game seem to not be going good for Uncle Will that was until his father joined matching the wager, and the game begun again.
At the end of the game Uncle Will's dad lost, and Will didn't get the key. One good thing was that we were free to go. "Well at least we are free to go," I said as I smiled up at Uncle Will as he nodded at me matching my smile.
That night we were going to leave from what Uncle Will told me, but he said that he was going to get the key first before we left. So while he was in the captain's cabin I stayed topside waiting for him and his father to meet me at our spot.
I looked out at the dark sea thinking of my parents remembering the dark cloud that seem to hang over them the last time I had seen them. I remember my conversation with Daddy how he reassured me that they still loved each other. 'I hope you're doing ok, Mum and Daddy,' I thought sadly.
I knew that they were more than likely really worried about me. I still remember my mum fighting to get to me before I was taken away, and how Daddy's face had lost all of its color.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when Uncle Will and his father showed up. Uncle Will and his dad were talking amongst themselves, and I couldn't understand what they were saying. All I know is that it was apparently something really serious because Uncle Will's voice changed tones to that of a determined one.
When we went to make our leave, Uncle Will had me climb on his back as we dived into the water below.
