Chapter Twelve: The Aftermath

Friday, September 11th

[Jay's POV]

I am such a jerk. I can't believe I just left like that! Nya's going to hate me now! Maybe she thinks I'm cheating on her!

I bury my face in my hand and put my elbows on the desk in my room. Around me is the massive pile of Math homework that's all due Monday. Shit. I'm never gonna get it done.

My bedroom door opens to reveal my mom. "Jay, honey, how you feeling?"

"Still not good," I told her. I lied to her and said I was feeling sick and wanted to come home.

"It's a shame because you worked so hard on getting all dressed up," she sighs. "Was there a girl you wanted to see there?" I looked up at the ceiling instead of answering. I don't want to talk about it, Mom . . . Leave me alone. She must've seen the look on my face because she sighs and leaves my room without another word. She's smart: she knows that she can't get anything out of me when I'm like this.

The second she's gone I let all my feelings loose. I burst into tears, scream into my hands, and jump up kick my desk as hard as I can. My foot throbs, and I collapse to the floor, staring at the ceiling again.

My door slowly opens again. I shut my eyes tight, hoping that this person leaves me alone. I suddenly feel a little wet nose against my cheek. I open one eye and look straight at my little Chi-Chon.

"You are the sweetest dog ever, you know that, Jay Jr?" Jay Jr. nuzzles me again, and I reach out to pet his curly golden fur. He climbs on top of my stomach and lays down. I smile softly and rub behind his ears.

"You know what, Jay Jr? Girls are weird. Have you ever dealt with a girl before?" Jay Jr. just stares at me with his big brown eyes. I sigh. "I know you don't understand what I'm saying, but still . . . at least look like you care." He sticks his tongue out and licks my face. I laugh.

"Man, why are girls so complicated? Not only do they make no sense, they make you feel all nervous and jittery inside!" Jay Jr. lets out a small whine. I pet behind his ears again and groan. "I can't believe this all happened because I was too afraid to dance with a girl."

[Lloyd's POV]

Everything was spinning. I've never felt so giddy and sick in my life. I was going to find Brad and ask him to take me home, but I can't find him. The loud music is making my head pound and the lights hurt my eyes. Dammit Matt, why did you have to get me drunk?

My eyes drift around the room. I suddenly spot the most attractive girl I've ever seen in my life. She's got long, dark hair, a curvy body, and she's quite tall. I so want to ask her to dance, although she looks like she's probably a Senior. I'm gonna have to practice.

In my daze I wasn't paying attention to where I was going, and I slammed right into a pillar. I looked at it. It was pretty plain and boring. But that meant it was the perfect candidate. I kneel on one knee.

"Miss Sexy Pillar, will you dance with me and call me your hunk, I mean, damn, you give me nosebleed, baby . . ."

"Ugh, you're disturbing!" I look up into the face of the hot girl. A blond boy stands next to her with his arm around her shoulders. I stand up shakily.

"You are so hot, you know that?"

"PERVERT!" she screams, raising her hand. Next thing I know, she's slapped me across the face and I'm on the cold, hard floor. I glance up at her.

"Wow, I think she's really into me."

"Who?" A face leans down above me.

"Heeeyyy Brad," I slur.

"Okay, you're drunk, aren't you?" he sighs, rolling his eyes. I nod lazily. "You're such a stupid ass, Lloyd."

"I know . . ." He holds out his hand.

"C'mon, I'll tell you home. Damn, your parents are going to throw a fit!"

"Shit! I'm screwed," I moan, grabbing Brad's hand. He gives me a lopsided smile.

"Yup." He wraps an arm around my shoulders to steady me. "GENE!" He shouts over the music. "GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!" Gene wanders over lazily.

"Yeah, what's up?" Then he sees me. "Oh hell, Lloyd, what happened?!"

"He's drunk."

"Greaaat just wonderful," Gene says sarcastically.

"Can you call your dad? My mom would get pissed if she had to take a drunkard home," Brad says, and I think he says more, but all I hear is: "huh grasd hytdhvju blaaah ma chicken salad meh gekdod pkhgvddgq fdeiva . . ."

The next thing I know I'm sitting in a car getting driven home. The radio's on, playing a song called: "I'm Too Young and Too Drunk". Yep. Sounds about right. Soon we've pulled up in front of my house.

"Alright Lloyd, git out," says the man. (Gene's dad?). I climb out of the car and attempt to say thanks, but it comes out as "tanks ooo". I stumble up my driveway and ring the doorbell. The door opens to reveal Dad.

"Shower," I croak. Dad frowns.

"Lloyd what-?"

"Just move and let me into the damn shower," I groan, holding my head. Dad sighs and lets me in, but I can tell that he's suspicious.

I strip as fast as I can, and jump into the shower. The water's freezing, so I reach to turn it up, but in the process I throw up down the drain. Damn. I just leave the water the way it is and rinse off. The water feels so good. I just stand there, listening to the pounding of water hitting the porcelain. I messed up . . . big time. Hell, I'm going to be grounded for the rest of the school year. Someone bangs on the door. I sigh and shut off the water.

After I'm dressed in my black pajamas with neon green writing that spells out "I'm a troublemaker", I stumble downstairs and into the kitchen to get some water. Halfway there I'm stopped by my mom.

"Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon, you have some explaining to do." Oh. Shit.

[Kai's POV]

Dark, light, dark, light, dark, light, dark, light . . .

"Kai, please be quiet!" Oops, I hadn't realized that I'd been talking out loud.

"Sorry sis, it's just the lampposts on the sidewalk are really bright so it's like dark, light, dark, light, dark-"

"I get the point, Kai," Nya sighs. I feel really ill again. I lean over and throw up down the nearest storm drain. "Seriously, Dad's going to kill you."

"I know, sis, I know," I groan, shaking a little bit as I wipe my mouth on my sleeve.

"Oh, gross, Kai! That's an expensive shirt!"

"Sorry . . ." I stagger on down the sidewalk, my head pounding. "How much further?"

"Uh, ten minutes at the least," says Nya, checking her watch. I groan. I don't think I can make it that far.

"Hey! You kids!" a gruff voice shouts. Nya gasps and grabs my wrist. I look around anxiously. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" A tall, redheaded teen steps out from the shadows.

"We're walking home," Nya says, "I'm pretty sure that's legal?"

"No, wait . . ." the teen murmurs. "I know you guys. You're the Blevins siblings, aren't you?"

"So what if we are?" I croak, trying to hide the slur in my voice.

"I've seen you in detention a lot, Kai," he snarls. I blink, attempting to recognize him.

"Cameron?" I gasp.

"Who?" Nya whispers.

"Cameron Stone," I reply. "Rachel's bro-" Another wave of nausea flows over me, and I bend over.

"Damn, what's wrong?" Cameron asks.

"I'm fine," I pant, "just . . . just a little sick, that's all." Cameron frowns. I can tell he doesn't believe me.

"Riiight . . . now, have you two seen Rachel?"

"She's still at the dance," Nya says.

"She isn't with a guy, is she?" Cameron growls.

"Not that I know of," I say. "Wait, why couldn't you come?"

"Ahh, there's a stupid college thing I had to go to." Cameron waves it off like it's no big deal. "Anyways, can you get in halfway through?"

"Not sure," I groan. "But you could sneak in. They aren't very good with security."

"Huh," Cameron says. "Interesting."

"You can have this," Nya says suddenly, handing him a ticket.

"Where'd you get that?" I demand. My stomach twists, and I bend over. I only catch the end of her sentence.

"-over by the punch table."

"Someone must've lost it," grins Cameron. "Hey, you two are cool kids. If you ever need anything, come to me. I'll help you out. I owe you one." He grins and takes off down the street.

"Wait! Cameron!" I shout. He turns around.

"What?"

"Can you drive us home?"

"I suppose so," he replies, walking back over. He clicks the unlock button on his keys and the lights of his beat-up car flash. "Let me guess, you need to get your drunk self home."

"How did you-"

"You smell," he says, getting into the car. Nya jumps in the back and I take shotgun. "And trust me, I know that smell. It was the main scent of my Sophomore year. You're in the hard year, Blevins. Once your outta Sophomore, you get a car. Then you got more freedom. Survive this year, and then you got it all, man." He parks in front of our house.

"Thanks Cameron."

"No prob. Good luck with your folks." Nya and I climb out. "You're gonna need it."

In case you're wondering, a chi-chon is a type of small dog. Look it up if you need to. :)

Sorry that there was no Zane or Cole. I'll focus on them in the next chapter.

However, I got the LloydxPillar in there XD

Tootles!
