Chapter 12: Found

The moon rose slowly in the sky. Its full body lit up the valley and danced off the canyon walls. Shadowrunner sat at the mouth of the cave and just watched over her former home. The lights in the house shut off showing her mother had gone to bed. Over the crickets she heard Predaking walk up from behind. She didn't even need to look up to see that he was looking at her.

"You should get some rest. They'll be coming soon and you need to rest," Predaking finally spoke. He didn't need to be a predacon to see that Shadowrunner was distraught about seeing her old home. She just turned to look at him before speaking, "Ok, Where's Silverwing?"

Predaking offered her a hand up and she obliged.

"He's resting in the back of the cave," Predaking explained. Shadowrunner took the hint and walked back still thinking about the day's events. She stopped and asked him, "What about you?"

"I'll stand watch," he said, "Now go rest."

"Ok," Shadowrunner said with a little node before walking down deeper into the cave. She heard Predaking leaning against the wall of the opening of the cave. It didn't take long to reach Silverwing, considering they weren't that far from the opening of the cave. He was sitting down against the cave wall and appeared to be sleeping. Shadowrunner sat across from him. She tried to close her optics, but she couldn't find any will to sleep. She couldn't help, but think about all the things the poor seeker had been through since she met him. She would hate to see what Tarn would do with him. She leaned her head back and finally allowed sleep to take over.

Shadowrunner didn't know how much time passed when she opened her eyes to find Silverwing gone. Panic filled her. He shot up as fast as she could. Where was he? She quietly, but quickly made her way to the opening of the cave, peeking around every corner as she went. At the opening of the cave Predaking was also nowhere to be found. Something wasn't right. She sneaked quietly to the mouth of the cave and saw the moon was now in the middle of the sky. Daring herself more she walked out of the cave. Looking around neither Predaking nor Silverwing as anywhere to be found.

Shadowrunner slowly walked down from the cave. Shadowrunner the noticed something, the crickets, they stopped chirping. In fact the only noise she heard was her own footsteps. Something inside her screamed that something wasn't right. Her panic turned to fear when she remembered something her mother taught her: When animals go quiet it means something is hunting. If her thoughts were correct she didn't want to meet the group hunting. She truly was terrified to see Tarn again, especially after what she was told about them.

She suddenly heard moaning coming from behind a rock. She walked over slowly and looked around the rock, only to be met with a grizzly sight.

"Silverwing," Shadowrunner said to herself as she rushed to help the now badly wounded seeker. It looked like his leg had been put through a shredder. Shadowrunner knelt down, "Silverwing, what happened?"

Silverwing turned his head to look at her, revealing a now cracked visor, "The DJD. They're here. Tesarus about killed me, would have if Predaking didn't intervene." "Where is Predaking now?" she asked trying to figure out how to handle the situation. "I don't know. He lead them off I think," he said as he stared at her. "Come on. We got to get out of here in case they come back," Shadowrunner said trying to help him up. He grunted in pain as he tried to move. "Just leave me here. I deserve to die, you don't," Silverwing said dropping his full weight down trying to make her leave him. He knew she didn't deserve to be killed, especially if Tarn did it out of spite for her leaving with them. After his wing got torn off it woke him up. This war had become pointless and he didn't want to play a part anymore. The DJD had a right to kill him, it was in their job description, but Shadowrunner just got dragged in for no reason. "No," Shadowrunner said as she pulled his arm over on her shoulders and continued to try and pull him up, "You don't deserve to die." "Leave me, please. I will only slow you down," Silverwing said looking her in the optics. "Where would my pet be going in such a hurry?" said a familiar baritone voice behind them. Shadowrunner didn't know what to say, her worries were more for Silverwing then herself. She suddenly felt a tug when Silverwing pulled himself to his feet. "If you want her you'll have to go through me first," he said pushing Shadowrunner behind him to put himself between her and Tarn. "Fine by me," was all Tarn said as he started walking towards them. Silverwing looked over her shoulder to Shadowrunner and shouted at her to run. She didn't want to leave him, but Shadowrunner knew she had to. Tarn watched Shadowrunner take off the other direction. Didn't this seem familiar. Tarn knew he needed to find out what these two told her, before he could do anything. Not just because she was new, but for the fact he liked her so much. She was so sweet and innocent. He didn't know why he took such a shine to her, but he wasn't going to allow someone in the way of him finding out why. Then again he got permission to kill the seeker for messing with the systems and leaving his rank. He was free to kill. Shadowrunner ran for her life. She knew couldn't head to the farm, but she could head deeper into the canyons. She remembered how hard it was for Tarn to navigate the mountains. She hoped that the canyon would be the same. She looked up and spotted a small cave that was high off the ground in the canyon wall. She could get in it, but Tarn wouldn't be able to, easliy at least. Shadowrunner wanted nothing more then for all this to be over. Why did she leave? Why? Where was Predaking? Should of she stayed to help Silverwing? She moved further back in the cave and sat up againest the cave wall. Questions filled her mind as she sat in the darkness. A deadly silence filled the air and it made her body shake. She'd just seen a side of Tarn and the other Decepticons she didn't need to see. She never felt so afraid before. Only one question rang in her mind above all others: What was she going to do now? She was alone. Truly alone.
