And me and all of the people with nothing to do and nothing to prove

And it's you and me and all of the people

And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you

The next morning Elijah and Talia went downstairs to discuss Davina's drawings with the others. "The Italians call them Strega. The Yoruba of West Africa call them Aje, meaning mother. Where my mother was from they called them Hexa, and here, we call them witch. Over the centuries vampires have fought them and fought beside them, bedded them and burned them, whether adversary or ally they have been a force to be reckoned with. Their ancestral magic anchors this city. There's never been one all-powerful witch, until Davina," Elijah explained.

"Who is now safe and sound, tucked in down the hall under my protection," Klaus added as he entered the room. He glanced down at the drawing of Celeste. "Your Celeste was quite beautiful and a portent of evil, according to volatile artist in residence."

"Yes, perhaps Davina has mistaken what she calls evil for power. Celeste was certainly very powerful in her day," Elijah countered.

Talia eyed the drawings, "But she's been dead for over two hundred years, I don't understand, why all these sketches now?"

Klaus shrugged, "Why does any witch do anything?" Suddenly a loud crash echoed through the compound. Davina. "Well that's going well."

"If you're trying to win the girl's trust, perhaps poisoning her one true love was not the most splendid idea," Elijah offered.

"Well, are there any more inopportune deaths you'd like to wave in my face?" Klaus questioned.

Elijah gave him a look, "Give me a moment; I'll get you a list." Talia smirked as Klaus chuckled. More crashes sounded from Davina's room.

"Young, old, dead, or alive, witches are a pain in the arse," the hybrid stated before getting up and leaving the room.

"Elijah, there's something you need to know," Haley spoke up from her seat in one of the plush chairs. Talia and Elijah looked over at her curiously. Before Haley could continue the entire room began to shake.

The Original glanced at his girlfriend. "It's not me," she replied to his unspoken question. Elijah's arm wrapped around her waist as the three of them rushed out onto the balcony.

It wasn't just the room that was shuddering it was the entire city. "What's going on?" Rebekah demanded from below them.

Everyone glanced over at Klaus. "Davina." After the city calmed down they met to discuss the situation. "This is madness, how can a sixteen year old girl shake the entire French Quarter?"

"I've seen her rock the church, but I've never seen anything like this?" Marcel announced as he paced the room.

"How did you control her when she was in the attic?" Klaus asked.

Marcel paused and looked at the hybrid, "I didn't have to, but then I never killed her boyfriend."

"Yes, we've been over this part already," Klaus growled. "The point is that in her current state she is useless as a tool against the witches."

Talia had had enough, "She is not a tool! Something is wrong with her."

"She has too much power that she cannot control, that much we already knew," Elijah put in. "But why is it manifesting itself in such an aggressive manner?" Apparently answering his own question Elijah began to leave the room.

"Where are you going?" his brother demanded.

"This is witch business, let's ask a witch," Elijah answered without looking back.

In a blur, Talia appeared in front of him. She smirked and gave him a pointed look, "You weren't thinking about going without me now were you?" Elijah sighed and decided not to fight her on it. He took her hand as they made their way toward the exit.

Haley suddenly appeared in front of them blocking their path, "You two are going to see Sophie."

"You don't have to eavesdrop, we wouldn't keep anything from you," Talia told her.

Haley's eyes were nervous, "Yeah, well I don't want to keep anything from you guys either and if you're going out to Sophie there's something that you should know." Talia and Elijah gazed at her expectantly. "She called me and asked me for a favor, she promised me that she would help break the curse that Marcel put on my people in exchange for some information. I didn't think anything of it but then Davina started drawing those pictures of Celeste and-" Haley rambled quickly before Elijah cut her off.

"Whatever this is, you have to tell me."

Haley hesitated, guilt written across her face. "Sophie wanted to find Celeste's remains." Talia felt Elijah go rigid beside her. "So I went through your journals, and I found out where you buried her and then I told her." The raven haired vampires stared at the werewolf horrified that she would do such a thing. "I know it was stupid and it was snoopy, and I should've just asked." Haley glanced between them frantically. "Please say something."

"She wanted to be left in peace. When a witch's remains are consecrated their power fuels the rest of their community. Celeste did not want her remains to be found. She made me promise to bury her where her remains would not be found. You have not only violated my privacy, but you have broken my promise to her," Elijah replied, his voice strained and his eyes hard.

Tears gathered in the corners of Haley's chocolate eyes as she croaked out, "I thought they were just bones, Elijah."

"If you truly believe that why didn't you ask where to find her?" Talia pointed out, disappointment laced in her voice. With that Elijah brushed passed Haley but Talia stayed behind for a moment. "I know that you realize what you did was wrong, and if you want Elijah to forgive you… you need to give him time," Talia advised the pregnant girl before following after Elijah.

Upon arriving at the cemetery, the two lovers found Sophie Deveroux talking to Sabine. "…we only have a few more weeks to complete the Harvest-"

"I'm aware of our deadline," Sabine interrupted.

"-and if we fail the witches are done for in this town. Our power will fade for good. Those girls sacrificed will never come back; my niece will never come back. If digging up some creepy old bones means I get Monique back, I don't care about anything else."

"I happen to care," Elijah said announcing their presence. Sophie turned around to see them. "Come with us." Back at the compound, Elijah, Talia, and Sophie were joined by Klaus and Rebekah.

"You've stolen the remains of the very person Davina has been drawing, care to explain this startling coincidence?" Talia asked Sophie as she leaned on the desk Elijah was sitting at.

Sophie gazed at the drawing of Celeste, "I can't. I didn't even know who Celeste Dubois was until I-" The young witch was cut off by Davina's screams and the room beginning to shake. The four vampires hardly moved as Sophie began to freak out. "Was that Davina?"

"Charming little habit she's developed," Klaus replied earning a half-hearted glare from Talia.

Sophie's eyed widened more, "And the earthquake I felt today?"

"Also Davina, and she's taken to vomiting dirt," Rebekah answered.

"Oh, we have a huge problem," Sophie informed them. "I thought that we had more time but we need to complete the Harvest, now."

"Said the desperate witch, conveniently," Klaus said taking a sip of his scotch.

A small sigh escaped Talia as Sophie continued, "I'm serious. That earthquake you just felt, a preview of the disaster movie that is about to hit us."

"Why should we believe you?" Elijah inquired.

"You've met Davina, you know her story. For months now she's been holding the power of all the three girls sacrificed at the Harvest ritual, a force that was meant to flow through her back into the earth. One person was never meant to hold that much power. It's tearing her apart and it will take us down with it." All four vampires exchanged wary looks. This was about to get very interesting.

Sophie then explained how Davina's powers would manifest in the four elements, the first being earth had already established itself so the elements to follow would be air, water, and then fire, each worse than the previous. Klaus left to go explain the situation to Father Kieran and Rebekah was going to talk to Davina. Talia then left Elijah's side to go warn Haley, despite her frustration with the mother-to-be. "Haley!" she called reaching her friend's room.

The brunette looked up at her, "Hey, what's up?"

"Davina's powers are getting out of control and apparently if Sophie doesn't complete the Harvest, we're gonna have an apocalypse on our hands. So keep an eye out and be on your guard. I've got to get back to the others and figure out what we're going to do, so I'll see you later," the blue eyed vampire informed her before turning to leave.

"Talia wait!" Haley called and said vampire turned back. "Do you think Elijah will forgive me? I mean, the two of you have taken care of me since I got here and I am so sorry for what did, I don't want to lose you two."

Talia rushed forward and hugged the pregnant girl, "You haven't lost us yet. Give it time. We'll figure this Davina Harvest thing out and then we'll deal with getting Elijah to forgive you." Just then the wind picked up and the shutters on the windows banged open and closed repeatedly. "Oh no."

Haley looked at Talia nervously, "What is it?"

"Definitely not something good. I'll be back later." With that Talia left the room and went in search of Elijah. Talia arrived downstairs just in time to see Marcel jump over the railing from the second floor and punch Klaus in the face.

"You're not touching her," Marcel shouted. Elijah blocked Marcel from further attacking Klaus.

"Marcel!" she yelled as she reached them. "No one wishes to see Davina harmed less than Elijah or I but whether we wait it out or not she is going to die."

"According to Sophie, the witch who's screwed over everybody here," Marcel pointed out.

Elijah jumped in then, "The Harvest was working before it was stopped. If a non-believer like Sophie Deveroux can come to faith that these girls will be resurrected then I also am a believer."

Marcel brushed passed the Original and got right in Klaus' face, "I saved Davina from the Harvest and now you want me to just hand her over?"

"Do you think that I am happy about this?" Klaus replied. "If the witches complete the Harvest not only do they regain their power, we lose our weapon against them."

"Oh for God's sake she's not just a weapon at your disposal!" Talia shrieked indignantly.

Klaus ignored her. "The earthquake I was willing to chalk up to hideous coincidence but these winds… If Davina is not sacrificed then every inch of earth that shook, that is blowing about now, will soon be drenched in water and consumed by fire."

"Oh, now you care about the city?" Marcel shot back.

Elijah crossed his arms over his chest, "And we ought to, we built it."

"And we all so it burnt to the ground, twice," Klaus reminded Marcel. "I will not let that happen again. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yeah," Marcel nodded before walking away.

Talia sighed, "Not a people person, are you Niklaus?"

"Nonsense, I love people," Klaus replied causing Elijah to chuckle a bit, even Talia cracked a small smile. "Just on my way to warn a couple of prominent ones in case the weather gets out of hand, if you two fancy yourselves as pure diplomatic perhaps you'd like to come along."

Elijah shook his head, "No, soon Sophie Deveroux will be consecrating Celeste's remains. And though her actions are reprehensible, still I should pay my respects. Talia?" He offered the raven haired girl his hand, which she took without hesitation.

"Hey do you have a minute?" Haley asked as she appeared.

Elijah waved her off, "Just on our way out." Talia shot her an apologetic glance as they left the compound.

"Which one of us is the people person again?" Klaus called after them but was met with no reply.

At the cemetery, Celeste's bones were laid out on an altar. Sabine and Sophie had already begun the ritual so Elijah and Talia watched on quietly. After a few minutes Elijah turned and walked a few feet away. Talia let him go, knowing he needed to work through his emotions.

"You don't have to be here for this," Talia heard Sabine tell Elijah with her vampire hearing. "It's gonna take some time for Sophie to prepare for a consecration."

"I have time," Elijah replied. "I owe her this."

"Care to elaborate why?"

"You ever experience something so profoundly wonderful that when it was taken from you, your life felt unbearable?" Talia forced her jealousy down at Elijah's explanation. She knew some part of him would always love Celeste, and Katerina, and Tatia. She just had to deal with it.

"Yes," Sabine answered barely above a whisper. "I have felt that and I've got the scars to prove it."

Talia could vaguely feel Elijah's warm gaze on her back. "I believe that when you love someone and they love you in return you are uniquely vulnerable. They have a power to hurt you that's like nothing else." Elijah's phone suddenly rang. "Rebekah…"

Talia tuned out as Sabine approached her. "I can't imagine how awkward this is for you," Sabine told her.

"You have no idea. I'm just trying to deal with it as best I can," Talia replied.

"You must really love him to go through all this."

"I do. Still, there's always that fear that I'm going to lose him someday, somehow. I've lost everyone else I've ever cared about in some way or another."

Sabine gave her a curious look, "So that's what you're truly afraid of? Being alone?"

Talia nodded, "The few times I thought I was I nearly went ballistic."

"Well I'm here with Sabine, perhaps we can try a locator spell," they heard Elijah say and turned around wondering what they needed a locator spell for. Elijah hung up a minute later. "Marcel took Davina and we need to find her. Will you help us?" Sabine nodded and the two lovers followed after the witch to try and find Davina.

*15 years later*

"So Davina was getting sick and causing all these disasters because she had all the power from the Harvest? And you guys had to kill her in order to stop them and bring her and the other girls back?" I questioned attempting to make sure I understood what Talia was telling me.

Talia nodded, "Yes, though most of us did not want to do it we realized there was no other way, however, we did meet some complications."

"Like what?"

"Well..."
