A/N: I don't own Stargate-sg1

A/N: Hey, an update! Finally! Sorry writers block and fire ruled my summer and into fall. Now I'm here. Like always-enjoy!

In the line of Fire-12

Cassandra watched as her fire family emerged out of the truck. Quickly running a strand of hair behind her ear as she saw Jonas removing his boots. Sam smiled as she saw the teen standing there.

"Hey Cas. I didn't know you were stopping by."

She smiled gently clutching the small piece of paper in her hand. "I dropped some cookies off mom made."

Teal'c smiled. "Just what I need after a long shift."

"Do you have time to join us?" Sam asked as she removed her fire jacket from her.

Cassandra shook her head. "I can't, special dinner with mom. Rarely does she get an early shift ya know."

"Right." Sam stated sensing there was something more. "Anything else?"

"Well ya...she stepped slightly between Sam and T. Her eyes landing on Jonas who didn't miss her attention on him. "I want to give you something."

Jonas glanced at his superiors then back at Cassandra. "Really?"

nervously she stretched out her hand dropping the piece of paper in his hand. "Here."

Jonas unfolded the paper. Frowning slightly at what he saw on it. Seeing the uncertainty she quickly explained.

"It's my apartment you can stay with me."

"Excuse me?!" Sam and Teal'c stated in unison.

Cassandra rolled her eyes looking at her adoptive family. "It's a separate loft apartment. You know where mom and I live."

Jonas folded up the piece of paper. "Sorry but I don't need a hand out."

"It's not a charity thing. Mom and I talked about it. In exchange for rent you can help do things around the property." She smiled. "Just come look at the space. You just might like it."

Jonas gave a uncertain glance toward Sam, knowing how she was the closest to Janet. He gave a faint smile.

"Thanks really but..."

Sensing the awkwardness creeping in Teal'c walked over clapping a hand on Jonas's shoulder looking at Cassandra. "Would after shift work for you?"

Cassandra smiled widely. "Yes. Perfect!"

"You bet."

Cassandra gave one final thanks before leaving the bay. Jonas parted from Teal'c glaring at him.

"Seriously? What is wrong with you?"

Teal'c laughed. "I was thinking the same about you! Beats sleeping on some cot or in some grimy side street. It's a offer you can't refuse."

Jonas looked somewhat surprised before he looked at Sam. "You're ok with it?"

Sam managed to give a smile. "Yeah, it looks that way." she said giving Teal'c a quick look.

Teal'c smiled. "Well, first up shower and then we shall go on from there."

Jonas gave one last glance at Sam before heading to the locker room. As soon as he was out of sight Sam crossed her arms disapprovingly glaring at Teal'c. He shifted slightly under her harsh gaze.

"What is the big deal?"

"You didn't even give me a hint of your plan. How can you just by pass me like that without mentioning anything?"

"Oh c'mon Sam. It's not like Cassie is not responsible and clearly Janet has okayed this plan. So I fail to see why you are bent out of shape about it."

"Because Cassie is nineteen years old with a twenty-four year old man living just above where she lives. Unless you have forgotten but it was Jonas who rescued her from her previous apartment. She wouldn't be living with Janet-"

"So Jonas is a good looking guy but the last thing on his mind is a potential relationship with Cassie he barely talks about his personal life as it is."

"I'd just like a heads up next time you do something like this."

"Heads up about what?" Jack asked as he entered the bay.

"Jonas living in Janet's home." Teal'c stated as he removed his jacket draping it over his shoulder.

"Really? How did you manage to convince him to do that?" Jack asked a bit surprised

"He's not living there." Sam hurriedly stated. "He is just looking."

Teal'c smirked stepping closer to Jack. "He is so moving in. You just wait."

He bid farewell as he headed into the station. Sam side taking a seat at the table. Jack followed doing the same.

"You have reservations about it."

Sam looked at Jack. "It's not like I don't trust them. It's just, Jonas."

"He's a good looking man and Cassie is beautiful young woman. I get why you don't approve." Jack said leaning back in his seat.

Sam frowned. "It's not just that. Jonas's life style, be it not his choice. Is rather dubious in nature. It is no secret the danger that surrounds him. I just don't want to see her hurt."

"There is enough of us around to keep a watchful eye out. Don't worry so much ok. "Jack comforted as he rose from his spot.

"I'll try not too." Sam stated.

"Cassandra Fraser!" Janet stormed into the room her full attention on her daughter. "Do you want to explain to me the plan you put in motion behind my back."

Cassandra walked over to the fridge. "Mom, I'm an adult. I can do what I want. I thought you would be happy."

"Cassandra, Having Jonas living in the loft above us. Can only lead to.."

"Sex." Cassandra finished.

"It is completely inappropriate. And I'd appreciate it if you would consult with me instead of going behind my back!"

Cassandra sighed. Turning to look at her. "Mom, Jonas is living on the streets or in shelters. I thought you'd approve helping those in need."

Janet softened. "I do...I just am worried his past will effect us."

"It won't mom. I will be responsible. I will only visit him if he wants me too. And Know I will not sleep with him."

"You better not."

A knock on the door caught both their attention. Cassandra beamed. "That's him."

Rushing over to the door she opened it to see Jonas standing there. "Jonas, I'am so happy you came."

Jonas looked at her. "Can we just get this over with."

Cassandra frowned at his response. Janet coming up beside her. "Sure thing follow us."

Jonas hated being perceived as pathetic street walker. Unable to take care of himself. Truth was he was embarrassed and also nervous. He knew she meant well. As he followed them up a flight of stairs he soon found himself in his potential living space. It was more cluttered than he thought it would be.

Cassandra quickly explained. "You know how I said you could help do chores in exchange for rent? This would be one of them."

Jonas took a good look then looked at them. "I could help out."

"Does that mean your a yes?"

"I said I would help out with clearing it out. Doesn't mean I'm moving in. I could just honestly use the cash."

"But.." Cassandra trailed off as Jonas walked passed her.

He looked at Janet. "Would that be acceptable?"

Janet nodded. "Of course."

Jonas nodded. "Thank you. See you on the weekeend?"

"That would be fine." Janet replied.

Jonas made his way down the stairs but cassandra quickly followed him and out the door. "Jonas! Wait."

Jonas sighed turning to face her. "Cassandra I honestly don't have time to."

"Move in ok? It's better than shelters and concrete. "I won't disturb you. Promise."

Jonas impassively stared at her until he finally gave her a hopeful answer. "I'll think of it."

She watched as he descended the stairs and down the street. Little did he know how strong the feelings she had for him and she wondered if he felt the same way.

A/N: Review! Thanks
