Two Hearts, One Dream

Chapter 12

Karen sat back down at the table, as she prepare herself to hear Anna's plans for the future.

" I want to start by saying I love Brandon." Anna said, as she sat down across from Karen.." And I don't mean puppy love, or high school love, I mean love, love, like real love. And I am so sick of hearing people say, I am to young to know what love is, causes that's bull, I know what I'm feeling is love. "

" Okay..."

" Okay? " Anna asked, staring at her grandma, Karen's simple one word answer, totally threw Anna off at what she was trying to prove.

Karen smiled, " Sweetheart, I'm not going to disagree with you. "

" You're not?"

Karen shook her head before replying, " No one is too young for love, because love doesn't come from mind, which knows your age, but from your heart, which knows no age..."

" Are you sure your my dad's real mother, because both of you have two different opinions. "

Karen laughed. " Believe me he's my son," she paused, "What exactly did your dad say?"

" That he's a hypocrite " Peyton said, as she continue washing the dishes.

" Why?"

" Believe me once Anna tells you what he said, you will be calling him one to." Peyton said, without stopping what she was doing..

" Dad said, " Anna said, before clearing her throat.

Flashback...( This part is the flashback to the conversation between Anna and her parents, I usually put flashback in Italic, but for some reason my computer, won't let me... )

" It's not true love." A very annoyed Lucas yelled.

" Lucas calm down!" Peyton exclaim, as she sat on the couch rubbing her stomach, and watching the debate going on between father and daughter.

" No I will not calm Peyton...Our daughter has lost her freaking mind."

" No I haven't, I was trying to come to you guys and express what I was feeling, and talk to you about my plans after high school. I haven't even got to my plans yet, and your already yelling at me, all because I said, that Brandon in I have found true love, "

" You're in high school, no one finds true love in high school. "

" Really?" Peyton said, as she raised her eyebrow at him.

" Don't start with me Peyton, I'm trying to prove a point."

" Which is?" Peyton asked.

" That true love and high school in the same sentence doesn't sound like a good mix."

Peyton couldn't believe her ears, no one finds true love in high school, then what the hell we're they doing? And what about the book he wrote in high school, she has read it enough, to know for a fact that he called their love true love a few times, and that they found it in high school.

" Why lots of people find true love and high school." Anna said, glaring at her father. Clearly thinking the same thing her mom was.

Lucas had to shake his head, he felt like he was back in time, back in Peyton's room having a discussion with her. Anna was a picture of Peyton at seventeen, her hair was in a ponytail, her eyes were dark and cold, she was standing in the middle of the room with her arms crossed over her chest. With one hell of a pissed off look on her face.. If he wasn't so pissed off, he would have made a joke about the way she was glaring at him. He took a deep breath, " Finding true love and high school is a joke."

Anna dropped her arms to her side.. " I can't believe you just said that."

" Me either.." Peyton said agreeing with her daughter.

" You both know I'm right, seriously name a couple that fell in love in high school, that are still together today." Lucas told her with a smirk.

" Aunt Haley and uncle Nathan" Anna said with a huge smile..

He's smirk dropped, " They don't count."

" Why not?"

" Because they don't "

" You and mom..."

" We don't count either." He said, as he ran his hand through his hair. This was clearly not going the way he wanted it to." Wow!." was all he heard his wife say. He knew he would have to explain himself later, but now he was out to prove a point.. Anna and Brandon, wasn't Haley and Nathan, or he and Peyton. Anna was his seventeen year old daughter who needed to focus on school, and Brandon... well Brandon is... a sex craze boy who needs to move clear across the country. Least in he's opinion.

" So you and mom didn't find love in high school? "

"Look, " Lucas began, pretending he didn't hear her question. " High school is the time to get good grades, excel at academics and perhaps jumpstart your career. "

" Dad...

" Let me talk Anna.." he took a deep breath before continuing. " But we have to take into account the fact that being in high school also brings unnecessary distractions such as the washed-out drama, cliques and crushes. While dating in high school is, to put it simply, "cute," it's not true love. We're just too young for that. Adults fall in love. "

" Did you just say...

"Yes, you heard me correctly. Peyton," Lucas said, cutting his wife off. " Adults, not teenagers. Grown up people with a strong sense of maturity, a job and a passion besides playing video games."

" That's funny, don't you, Skillz, and Nathan, still play video games?" Peyton asked, as she got up off the couch.

" You are supposed to be on my side Peyton.."

" I would, if you wasn't being such a jackass." She told him, as she put her hands on her hips.

" Dammit Peyton, I'm not being a jackass, I just want her to really understand what love is, " He turn back to Anna, "Being in love is so much more besides the looks; it goes deeper than holding someone's hand and it's definitely more than just going out with someone to be able to say, "I have a boyfriend or girlfriend."

" I know that dad,"

"I think only a person with more years of experience can clearly comprehend the whole concept of "love." So personally, I don't think true love can be found in high school. You're in high school! Why do you want to be tied down? Take this times and have fun, find your type, enjoy the company, and learn how to deal with your current boyfriend, so when the right one comes along you'll know exactly if they're the one. Brandon is not the one.."

" Lucas..." Peyton yelled...

" It's okay mom, " Anna said, giving her mom a little smile. " I always knew you had issues with Brandon, but that's your problem dad, not mine. I love him, I am in love with him, and he feels the same way. I'm going to be eighteen soon, and I will be making my own decision. Brandon is my future, and we are going to stay together. We have everything figured out, I wish I had your blessing, but I don't need it.."

" Let's push this whole true love subject aside, and let's talk about your future plans.." Peyton said, as she stood in front of her daughter. She had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.

Lucas didn't say anything, he to was curious to what the lovebirds have planned.

"Well, " Anna said, as she stepped back from her parents. This was really going to set them off. " Brandon has been getting offers to play all over the place."

"That's good honey." Peyton said, as she looked over at Lucas, who was looking down at the floor. " He's a great player."

" Yeah, that's what uncle Nathan said, He...

" I honestly don't give a damn, where he go's or who he plays with, I want to know what the hell are your plans. Cause I have a feeling I'm not going to like them." Lucas interrupted her. not wanting to hear about Brandon..

Peyton shook her head, and glared at him, She was about to call him out on what he said, when Anna spoke.. " Your right dad, you or mom, actually no one is probably going to like or understand what I'm about to say." She walked over to the door. " I'm not going to college, I have decided, to go with Brandon wherever he go's, we are getting married, and we are going to start a family, after we finish school, but I'm not going to college. " she told them, as she walked out the door. Leaving both her parents speechless..

End of Flashback...

Karen sat there for a moment, letting everything soak in.. " Well, I do agree with you both my son is a hypocrite, " she said, not believing Lucas would be that upset over Anna being in love, but then again. Anna was his little girl, She knows his biggest fear is letting Anna go, and he is probably scared that Brandon is the one.

" So grandma, what do you think about me not going to college."

" Well, to be honest.. I'm a little confused, "

" Me to.." Peyton said, as she sat down beside Karen. " All she ever did was talk about college, getting a degree in fashion, finance, business, child care, child psychology. She had so many ideas of what she wanted to do with her life. And now she doesn't want anything.." She said, as Lucas walked in the back door.

Anna rolled her eyes. " I do want something, I want Brandon, I want to get married, start a family, "

" Honey you can have all that and go to school, have a career..." Karen told her.

" Mom and Aunt Brooke didn't go to school and look at them both are succesful women."

" True, cause they worked their ass's off to get where they are today... They didn't give up on their dreams..." Lucas said, as he washed his hands..

" College isn't for everyone dad..." Anna said, as a few tears fell. Peyton and Karen nodded, " I wish you guys would let me live me life."

Lucas turn to face her, " Apparently, we don't have a say in what you do, or where you go. I don't like this plan, I will not support it, and let me tell you one more thing, if you do decide to marry this bastard... I won't be there.."

Peyton and Karen eyes widen, " Lucas..." they both yelled, as he stormed out the kitchen.

"Baby, he doesn't mean that.." Peyton try to comfort her now crying daughter...

Anna stood up, " I wish I could believe you mom, I'm going for a walk I need to clear my head.."

" Okay..." Was all Peyton said, as she watched her walk out the back door. " I don't know what I'm going to do with your son."

" Peyton do not let this issue with Anna, or Brooke and Haley stress you out. Honey you don't need to be worried, or stress. " Karen wrapped her arm around her.

Peyton nodded, " I'm trying not to, but it's so hard, My best friend is mad at me, Lucas's best friend is mad at both of us, Both my daughters hate us..."

" Everything will be okay, Brooke and Haley will come to their senses, Anna will be fine, I will handled my son. "

Peyton laughed, " Good, cause he is getting more hard-headed by the day, it that's possible."

Karen smiled, " I'm going to make some tea, we are going to go into the living room, and you are going to tell me what is going on with my other granddaughter. then you are going to go rest. I will take care of the boys and dinner., and whatever else I can do.."

" Thanks mom.." Peyton said, as she hugged her. " I'm so glad your back..."
