Hello lovely readers! I know, you guys probably thought I died. In reality, I just haven't had time. Even now, in the summer, I still don't have time to write! I was really busy with drama, then came AP testing, then the end of the school year. Not to mention that my friend got me sick at the beginning of summer, and just last week Thursday, I strained a muscle in my neck! I know my excuses suck, but most of all, I couldn't think of what to write. I felt like I had no energy for this story, but I finished it, like I told myself that I was going to, so with the last chapter, please enjoy and leave a review!

Disclaimer: I do not own Fruits Basket, I only own the plot and my characters I made up that I thought would go well in this story. Enjoy!

Kyo POV

I woke up to another morning. The days just seem to fly by when you have the people you love around you. I look over and see Tohru, my wife of forty years, still sleeping. She is not how she was when she became a teacher. She was full of energy, as well as an early riser. Well, okay, she is still full of energy, but she wakes up much later than what she did when she was teaching. She really did enjoy working with the kids, and would always stop by the dojo. I think my students liked her more than they did me.

It was nice just lying in bed, looking out the window. I knew that I should get up, because I was expecting company at any moment. I got up, got dressed and made my morning cup of coffee. I wasn't much of a breakfast, and I was going to be eating brunch, so what was the point of making breakfast? I quickly stepped outside to grab the paper from the cold artic air. It feels like it gets colder and colder every winter. I sit in the living room, reading and drinking my coffee.

I really have mellowed down from when I was younger. I remember how I would blow up at everything, and people would get freaked out because I got mad easily. I guess it happened when we were onto our fifth year of marriage, Tohru was pregnant. Of course, I never thought I was going to get married, so when I found out, I was ecstatic! I remember how she told me.

It was thirty five years ago, I had come home a little later than what I usually did. Of course, I was starving because I had a small lunch and even less time to eat it. I was dead beat, because of all the exercise I had been doing on a daily bases. I had just wanted to eat and go to bed. I told Tohru, but she insisted that I had to put away my socks. I should have been suspicious, because she usually doesn't ask me to do chores. After a couple of minutes, I decide that I should. I go to our bedroom, open my sock drawer, and I didn't see socks; I found a bad with a lot of pregnancy tests, all saying positive.

I dropped the basket I was carrying, ran into the kitchen, and I just couldn't believe it, so I asked Tohru, "Are you really?"

She nodded her head and told me, "You're going to be a daddy!"

As I was taking this trip down memory lane, I heard my phone chime, signaling I got a text that read, "We're here, please open the door so we don't freeze in this weather."

I sighed, making them wait a little longer, just to mess with them. I finally get up to open the door to reveal my son, Ben, along with his wife and daughter. "Where's your sister?" I asked him.

"I'm not her keeper. I'm surprised she's not here yet. She is usually the first person to get here. And why did it take you so long to get the door?" he asked me.

"I can't help it, old age is getting to me," I told him smirking. "Angela, it's nice to see you again. Have you been getting more sleep now that Kate is sleeping through the night?" I asked her.

"Yeah, I finally have. I haven't had a decent night sleep in a couple of years. Of course, with another one on the way, I just have to catch up before she gets here. I never thought I would miss sleep this much," she joked with me. It made me remember the nights I had with Ben and Karen.

My phone chimed again, and the text read, "I'm just going to assume the door is unlocked and that Bed, along with Angela and Kate, is there. I quickly texted her back, telling her that, while she was correct, she needed to hurry up. While Karen is usually early, it was unusual that she was going to be the last to arrive. I should ask her what took her so long later.

Just then, Karen walked into the room, dragging her boyfriend of five, Conner, and is walking as if there are red laser sensors. "Hey dad, how did you sleep?" she asked. This was her usual question whenever we talked on the phone early in the morning. She was usually at her job, working as an Algebra I teacher at the local high school.

"It was nice, I dreamed about when your mom and I got married. I can't believe that was forty years ago today," I told them. I was surprised that we've come so far from where we started. I thought a lot of people would have been against us getting married. Of course, there was a time when I told her about the curse, so she knew. The best part about it, she didn't run away screaming like I thought she would. Then again, I should have known better, it's Tohru. When I told her, she smiled and told me it didn't change the way she felt about me.

"You guys remember the plan?" Ben asked, as we all gathered around.

"Oh course, we've been talking about this for months. I don't think we've forgotten any time soon. I'm just glad that we're finally going to do it," Karen told me.

"I can't help it that you hate waiting," Ben shot back.

"Stop fighting, you're going to wake your mother," I told them. They both stopped, and I smiled. It was nice to have my family here to help me with this. "Alright, Angela and Karen, start making the breakfast. Ben, Conner, and I are going to start cleaning the house," I told them. "Let's get to it, but try not to be too loud."

"Come on Angela, let's get everything ready. What kind of pancakes?" Karen asked me.

"Buttermilk, they've always been her favorite," I told her. She smiled back at me, went into the kitchen, and started working. We started working from my bedroom towards the kitchen. Of course, it was mostly washing the hardwood floors, or dusting pictures. Tohru still kept the house spotless, like she did when we were younger.

When she was sick, I would take care of the house and the chores, so she could focus on getting better. She wasn't the one to get sick, so when she did, I was surprised. All she wanted to do was sleep. I would bring her some hot tea, come back five minutes later, she would be sleeping. With all that sleep, I'm surprised that she would wake up. That would only be when she was hungry or needed to use the bathroom.

I thought cleaning would take a half hour at the most, even while trying to be quiet. It took us three times as long, and after, I was ready to go back to bed. It made me glad that Tohru wasn't sick, because I wouldn't be able to clean the house like this, even if there weren't three people. I thought the two other people that were helping me were going to help me, but all they did was get in my way. I just hoped that the girls were almost done with breakfast.

I walked into the kitchen, and I saw that they were at the table, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper from today. "Please tell me you finished her breakfast," I begged them.

"Of course, who do you think we are? The guys? I feel bad that you stuck yourself with them. I guess you can learn from this experience. What do you want us to put on the tray?" Karin asked me.

"Give her a little bit of everything you made. I'm going to make her coffee," I told them as they started to get to work once more. Everything was set on the tray, and I carefully carried it into the bedroom. I set it on her table next to her side of the bed, and gently woke her. "Good morning sleepy head. Happy 40th anniversary! Guess who I brought?"

She was surprised to see that I had to tray of food, and that I remembered what day it was. She still was surprised whenever I remembered our anniversary. "Well, I'm going to have to guess our children," she told me, pretending to have to think about it for a moment.

"Your answer is correct!" A voice boomed out as the door opened to reveal Ben. "Good morning Mom! Also, I hope you enjoy the clean house! Conner and I cleaned it with dad," he told her.

"Don't let him kid you; I cleaned, they played around and got in my way," I told her while she laughed at the two of us.

"How about we let mom eat her breakfast in peace with dad? After all, this was their special day," Karin said, walking into the room as she made Ben trip and walked all over him.

"You know, I'm right here," Ben yelled at Karin.

"Didn't see you there. Better luck next time," she told him, sticking her tongue out like she was five years old. They all left, leaving me and Tohru alone.

"I still remember like it was yesterday," I told her, picking up a picture frame from my nightstand. It was from our wedding, and we looked like we had the time of our lives. "I can't believe it's been so long."

"I know, and I wouldn't change anything. This has been the best forty five years with you," she told me.

"That is also why I wanted to know if you wanted to renew our vows," I told her. "Mine still hold true, but did you want to renew them?"

"As much as I think it's a great idea, there would be no point. I still stay true to mine, and I still love you with all of my heart. I must admit, I wasn't expecting you to ask me that, so I wasn't prepared for it. Then again, I also wasn't prepared when you asked me to be your girlfriend," she told me with her beautiful smile. "To think, this wouldn't have happened if you didn't push mom out of the way."

"Yeah, and I don't regret it either," I told her, ready for anything to come our way for the rest of our lives. As the years went by, I was still so much in love with her, and I knew she felt the same way about me. Nothing could change this love, and I knew that with the upcoming years, nothing would change that love.

And that concludes this story! I hope to get something fresh up as soon as I can! Sadly, it's probably not going to be a Fruits Basket one, because I'm on a Fairy Tail hype right now. Thank you to everyone who read this story, and the reviews are what kept me going! Thank you to my beta reader Chocolateninjapanda, who was along the way with all the stress, but she didn't review this chapter because I wanted to get it out to you guys. I was surprised when I got my first review, and I'm surprised that a lot of people read it. I hope you guys continue to read other stories that I write, and thank you for reading this story through till the end!
