Chapter 12
Rigby managed to make his way upstairs and into Pops's bedroom, where Mordecai, Muscle Man, High Five Ghost and Thomas already were. Mordecai had thrown on a pair of jeans and t-shirt after he dried off from when he was pushed in the pool and Muscle Man was blow-drying his hair off after he managed to dry up from swimming in the pool earlier. Mordecai was also busy noticing the two lawn flamingos Muscle Man stole earlier. "Dude how did these manage to get upstairs?" He asked Muscle Man. "I don't know, they're the mascots, I guess they just get around like that," Muscle Man explained as he finished toweling off his head. "Yeah well I still don't know why you needed to pick these out of all the other ideas you could have used for a mascot," Mordecai said as he threw them onto Pops's bed before he noticed that Rigby was going through Pops's drawers. "Dude what are you looking for?" He asked his friend. "Breath mints, or at least anything that could help me out later," His friend stated. "For what?" Mordecai asked. Rigby sighed and just decided to come clean. "Ok, I ran into Eileen downstairs and she asked me to dance with her later on. Just in case that does lead to something later tonight, I want to be prepared," Rigby said as he frantically looked through all the drawers in Pops's room. "So you are hooking up with her, aren't you?" Mordecai sneered towards Rigby. "What….no….i mean…y-yes…no I don't know, I…I…" Rigby stuttered. "Dude, just admit it, you know it, I know it, everyone else in this room knows about your feelings for her," Mordecai said. "I…I don't know ok…I just wanna be prepared whether I hook up with her or someone else," Rigby finally spitted out. "Bro, the only way any girl aside from Eileen would hook up with you is if you had an atm machine inside your one good butt cheek," Muscle Man fired at him, which led to everyone, except for Rigby who just glared at them extremely annoyed over the millionth time they were joking about his one butt cheek that was damaged when he challenged Skips to punchies one time, to start cracking up. The laughing was interrupted when Mordecai realized someone had just texted him. He opened his phone to find out that the person who texted him was CJ. "Uhh guys, CJ just sent me a text," He said as Rigby took his phone and read the message out loud. "Dude check this message out, Mordocool, meet me downstairs, feel like catching up with you," Rigby said as he started responding to the text received. "DUDE Don't," Mordecai hollered as he tried to grab the phone out of Rigby's hands. Unfortunately, just as he managed to grab it out of his hands, Rigby had already sent the message he was writing. "Dude what did you write?" He asked Rigby as he read the message out loud. "Be right down, looking forward to it," He read before turning to Rigby. "Be right down, 'sunny cloud,' Dude do you not realize what you've done," He said to Rigby. "Dude, don't worry, she probably just wants to bury the hatchet and move on," Rigby explained. "What do you mean, she found out that it was never going to happen and moved on from there?" Mordecai said. "Yeah and that was after she went on a rampage and destroyed the coffee shop when she found out," Rigby counter-argued. Mordecai was unsure whether he should go through with talking with her since he was planning to finally hook up with Margaret tonight, and he didn't want someone he used to hang around with getting in the way of that chance. Then again, he figured his raccoon friend might be right, especially since it ended on a rather sour note when she found out about his feelings for Margaret. "All right fine, you make a good point, but how did she even get my number?" Mordecai asked. "Eh, I kinda ran into her before I came up, and she asked if I knew where you were, so I just told her to text you, and…well you can figure out the rest," Rigby explained. "What, dude why would you do that?" Mordecai asked. "I didn't think she'd actually wanna hook up with you here tonight, I mean when I ran into her, she said she only wanted to discuss what happened," Rigby explained. "Dudes, stop fighting over this. Look Mordo, just go talk to her, get it out of the way, and then you can put it behind you," Muscle Man said as he and High Five Ghost held them back, and stopped their argument from escalating into a brawl. Mordecai considered what Muscle Man had to say before he turned and walked out of Pops' bedroom, and deciding to take care of talking to CJ before he got back to seeing Margaret later tonight. All the while, Rigby continued to search for mints until he came across a case of mints in a rather old fashioned tin. He opened them only to see that they were stale before tossing them into a nearby trash can near Pops' bed.
Back outside, Mordecai was dancing through a crowd of people who were right under the DJ's table that was on the porch. He eventually came across CJ who was right across from the crowd near the table where the drinks were set up and maneuvered his way through the crowd and met up with her. "Hey….uh…so…how are you doing?" Mordecai asked CJ in a rather awkward and nervous tone. "Oh you know, the usual, work, school, social life, etc.," CJ said. "Oh, that's…uh…rather…uh….that's nice to hear," Mordecai responded. "Yeah, you know…haha, life is busy and all," She said as she nervously rubbed the back of her head. "Yeah I know that feeling…hehe," Mordecai responded and weakly laughing. There was a short awkward moment of silence before Mordecai asked her if she was enjoying the party. "Yeah, you know…I'm definitely having a blast so far," she responded. "Oh…good to hear," Mordecai responded as he poured himself some soda. "Yeah, you know, it's def…eh…a good time so far," CJ responded rather awkwardly. "Eh…good to hear," Mordecai responded. They then stared awkwardly around the party before deciding to cut to the chase. "Ok, let me get this out of the way, I've been thinking a lot about how it ended between you and me the last time we were friends, and while I still think you should have told me about your other friend, I probably over reacted a bit harsher than I thought," she stated. "What, hey you don't have to blame yourself for my mistake. I probably should have told you that I wasn't interested in pursuing a relationship with you back then," Mordecai counter argued. "You're right, but I did react in a rather….eh…harsh and inappropriate way to finding that out," CJ said. "Well, ok, I can agree with you there," Mordecai said. "None of that being on you, it's just, I've been in relationships that ended rather sour before, and it gave me these unresolved anger issues that…eh…shall we say…made me overreact to such news," CJ said. "Ah, so when you found out about me and Margaret, your reaction was mostly just…past failures blowing up inside of you so to say?" Mordecai asked. "In one way or another, but I've been learning to put the past behind me, and move forward," CJ said. "That's nice to hear, so are you seeing anyone right now?" Mordecai asked. "As of right now, no, though I did date this one guy a few months ago, unfortunately he ended up leaving for a college out of state, so we broke it off," CJ said. "Ah well at least you're seeing people still," Mordecai said. "Yeah, are you?" CJ asked. "Umm, no but I think I have a good shot at hooking up with Margaret soon," he responded. "Well I hope that works out for you," she said.
Unfortunately for the two, their conversation got interrupted at that very moment by Muscle Man who came running up to Mordecai and informed him that Benson was calling the park.
"You sure?" Mordecai asked. "Yeah, he just called me a few minutes ago, I told him everything was going fine but he said he wanted to talk to you and Rigby," Muscle Man said. "Oh crap, umm, I gotta go now, but I'll catch you later on," Mordecai informed CJ before he rushed back to the house, where he met up with Rigby and Thomas. The three shoved and maneuvered their way through the large crowd of people back into the house and through the kitchen and hallways before finally making it to Bensons' office. Rigby gave Mordecai the copy of Bensons office keys and unlocked the door to hear the phone was ringing. Thomas shut the door behind them while Mordecai and Rigby started frantically looking for the phone. They looked in the drawers of his desk, underneath it, and even through some of the file cabinets, but could not find it anywhere. Finally Mordecai decided to just patch Benson through the speaker.
"Dude, just relax and be quiet," he told Rigby as he pushed the speaker button on Bensons phone on the desk. "Hello?" Mordecai asked. "Mordecai, Rigby, there you guys are," Bensons said. "Oh uh…Hey Benson," Mordecai and Rigby said in unison. "Where have you guys been?, I've been trying to get through to Skips all night but I kept getting his voicemail, then I try to contact you two, and the same thing," Benson stated. "Oh yeah, well…Skips had something to take care of tonight," Mordecai said, "Yeah and me Mordecai and Muscle Man and Fives were all out of the house when you first called so we didn't know you were calling," Rigby said. "What do you mean? I tried calling your cell phones just a few minutes ago," Benson said. "Oh uh…well you see…eh," Mordecai began before Rigby jumped in and finished his sentence for him. "We were out playing Man Hunt, and we left our cell phones in the house when we went out," Rigby stated. "All right, that's fine, but guys please don't let me find a complete mess when Pops and I get back, I wanna come back to find the house exactly as it was when I left," Benson said. "Benson relax, we'll make sure to clean up before you get back," Rigby informed their boss. "That's what I hope. Oh also are you taking care of Miles?" Benson asked. "Umm…yeah, we're doing everything you told us to do, and we're…" Mordecai said before he was interrupted by a kissing couple. Rigby and Thomas quickly shooed them out of the room as they complained about wanting to use the office. Unfortunately for Mordecai and Rigby, Benson overheard what was said. "Guys, what was that?" He asked them. "Oh that was just Muscle Man and Starla dropping in. You're on speaker phone," Mordecai responded. "All Right. Well listen, I just wanted to call you guys before you go into bed for the night, and make sure everything is all right," Benson explained, just as Mordecai and Rigby saw people who were using aerosol cans and lighters and using the two as blow torches from outside of Bensons office window. "Uh yeah, everything's good, we're actually getting set to go to bed in a little bit," Rigby stated. "All right then, I'll call you guys tomorrow," Benson said. "Ok Benson, we'll see you then man," Mordecai said as he clicked the speaker phone button which hung the phone up. Mordecai and Rigby then looked at each other before glancing out the window and looking back at one another and sighing rather relieved over the fact that Benson never asked them about the noise coming from outside, or if they were throwing a party. They then left the office with Thomas following right behind them before locking the door to Benson's office.
Meanwhile, in their hotel room, Benson and Pops were waiting in their hotel room for Mr. Maellard, who arrived just as Benson got off the phone with Mordecai and Rigby. "Are you done with that fancy advanced computer phone, we've been waiting here a whole hour for you and you've been doing nothing but try to call the park people," Mr. Maellard complained. "Yeah, I finally managed to contact everyone, found out everything was good and under control, and that everything that needed to be done today was taken care of. So we should be good to go now," Benson said. "Good, good. The sooner we get this freaking ceremony out of the way, the sooner I can get out of this backward hick country, and home," Mr. Maellard complained. "I know sir, but trust me, the people insisted on bestowing this honor upon you, so please try not to make a big fuss over having to come back here," Benson stated. "Whatever, bean tean, although I honestly feel we could've had this out of the way a lot earlier if you hadn't tried to call those morons who work at my park," Mr. Maellard said. "I know sir, but I just wanted to make sure everything was under control before we went out," Benson said. "Whatever, let's just go and get this meeting over with," Mr. Maellard complained as he left the hotel room. Benson and Pops were just about to join up with him before Benson stopped and started wondering. "What's wrong Benson?" Pops asked. "I don't know. When I was calling Muscle Man, and Mordecai and Rigby, I thought I heard a huge crowd and music blasting over the phone," Benson explained. "Oh Benson, I'm sure it was nothing more than them having fun," Pops said. "Yeah I guess you're right," Benson said. "Hey! Are you two gonna come sometime this millennium if I'm to get back home soon," Mr Maellard said Mr. Maellard, who was waiting rather impatiently out in the hall way for only two minutes. "We're coming sir," Benson said as he and Pops ran out of their hotel room to join up with Mr. Maellard
Back at the party, more people had arrived, many of whom were now carrying alcohol, and some had set up a beer pong tournament in the garage. They cheered continuously over the back and forth action as one person would either miss a cup or sink a ball in. Unfortunately their cheers were halted when an older looking man walked in on them, clapping and cheering while trying to join in on their fun. Everyone just stared at him in confusion and wondered what someone older was doing there. "What, hey come on…I'm not here to bust anyone, I'm just here to party is all," the older guy explained. Everyone was a bit skeptical about this sort of thing, but finally one guy decided to toss him a ping pong ball, when he asked if anyone had one. Surely enough on his first shot he sank it in a cup, earning cheers and applause from everyone in the garage, one person even high fived him before grabbing a beer and chugging it in record time.
Over in the backyard of the park house, Muscle Man and Rigby were dancing it up when Muscle Man overheard the walkie talkie he took off of Danny earlier so he could keep in touch with Max, emitting static. "What's that bro," Muscle Man hollered only to hear garbled static again. "Dude, HOLD ON! I can't hear what you're saying," Muscle Man said as he walked out to the front of the house to try and see if he could hear better there. "Mitch, where are you going?" Starla asked. "I…uh…I just gotta take care of something really fast, I'll be back in a bit," Muscle Man said as he walked on. "Ok, just promise we'll meet up again in a bit," Starla stated. "Promise Babe," Muscle Man said as he kissed her before going on to the front yard, pushing his way through the large crowd that was circling the house. Now that he was away from the music and large crowd of people, he could hear what Max was trying to tell him earlier. "Ok, go ahead bro, what's the word?" Muscle Man asked Max over the walkie talkie. "Subjects are currently present in third cabin from the entrance. Most likely their sleeping quarters. They're saying they want to call the police," Max informed him as Muscle Man walked across the front yard with Thomas filing right behind him. "Any move made on that yet?" Muscle Man asked. "Not likely, discussions been going on for well over an hour. Though the view from up here says looks they're close to a unanimous decision." Muscle Man heard. "Wait, what do you mean from up here?" Muscle Man asked. "To translate, subjects are currently downstairs, I'm upstairs, at least two people in one room over are asleep, over," Max informed him. "Wait, bro, ARE YOU IN THEIR BUILDINGS?" Muscle Man asked him. "Positive," he heard. "BRO! GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE BEFORE YOU'RE CAUGHT!" Muscle Man ordered Max, only to hear: "Negative, I'm a ghost, over and out." "Dude, what am I gonna do about this?" Muscle Man asked Thomas as he tried to desperately radio Max again to tell him to get out, but he kept coming up empty.
Ok, so I have an idea for the next few chapters, that is, that when you people read the next chapters to come, I tell you to listen to a certain song from the film, while reading it. If you like this idea or not, leave a reply in the comments below.
