Day nineteen:

I haven't been down to see Sebastian since yesterday. I can hear him coughing his lungs out. Yet I sit here, pretending I don't hear a thing. I can't pull myself to find a piece of me that pitied the demon, not after what he did. Damn demon. No one dishonors the Phantomhive name. No one disrespects my parents. And no one compares me to themselves like that. I am nothing like that bastard! I try to tell myself he isn't himself but what if it is? Maybe this is who he really is. Maybe I was a fool to treat Sebastian like he was an actual person. He is a demon, a beast. He is simply my butler, nothing more.

Sebastian's coughing slowly turned into hacking and combined with the rattling of the chains, Ciel couldn't ignore it after so long. With slight bitterness, he finally got up and went to the trembling butler.

Sebastian lifted his head, revealing the sweat dripping from his face. The blood from his purple-tinged nose had dried and smeared across his face. His eyes burn red as he glared at Ciel.

"What a disgusting appearance to have before your master," Ciel stated coldly.

"...s-screw you..." he said between coughs. The demon tried to sit up against the wall, but fell back from the stinging in his back. "Aaughhh...damn it!"

"I thought you liked pain," the boy said with venomous irony. Sebastian threw his teacup at him, missing Ciel by a centimeter as it collided with the wall.

"I'd like t-to shove my claws d-down your throat and r-rip out your heart!" Sebastian growled, revealing sharp fangs.

Ciel disregarded the threat and walked over to the demon's side, kneeling down to tighten his chains.

"Aaargh!"

Ciel then peeled his shirt up swiftly, receiving another yelp from him. The scratches had reddened drastically and swelled twice it's size since the last time he checked on him. Pus began leaking out of most of them as others had become blackened scabs.

"You idiot! Why didn't you say anything about this when it got this bad?"

"Still concerned for the demon?"

Ciel had enough of it at that point. He yanked the lid off the flask and poured most of the remaining whiskey onto the demon's back.

"Aaauggh...you s-son of a-"

"You think I give a damn about what you say about my parents? My kind? The only reason I'm helping you is because I need you. Otherwise, you would be here dying alone. But if you think I'm just going to leave you here because of a few insults and threats, then you don't know me as well as you think do. Do what you will, but you can't get rid of me, not until hell freezes over."

The demon said nothing more, his face hidden by shadows his bangs casted. He sat quietly, only releasing muffled cries of pain as he let Ciel tend to his wounds. It wasn't until the boy applied gauze when he finally spoke up.

"...why are you doing this?"

"What do you mean?"

"If I die, you would be f-free to live the rest of your life. You have your manor, your c-company, your fiancé...why are you throwing it all away to help the d-demon who'll just take your soul in the end?"

Ciel stared into Sebastian's eyes, his blue ones piercing through the immortal being.

"I'd rather die in your hands than live some ignorant life, pretending what I went through never happened."

Ciel knew exactly what making the contract with the demon meant, how much he would have to sacrifice to get what he wants. He was mature for his age, as well as determined and prideful. He wasn't naive to try hope the inevitable wouldn't happen, that maybe the demon would take his soul and let him live the life that was rightfully his. But this is Sebastian he was talking about. No miracle from heaven would get Sebastian to change his mind. Ciel had accepted his fate long ago, a decision he made that no child should. That's why he wasn't going to let such a novice thought like a 'happy ending' get in the way of what he really wanted: revenge.

Once he was finished, Sebastian grabbed Ciel by his jaw. Only this time, it was not as forceful. Still, Ciel stiffened and tried to fight his way out of the demon's grasp. What is he planning to do? Sebastian placed his other hand on Ciel's cheek, the one he injured, and let his hand fall to his side once the cheek was completely healed. Can it be...?

"...S-Sebastian?"

"Yes...young master?"
