Hey everybody, sorry about how long it's taken me! D:
To BestCrossoverMovies if you are reading this I am so sorry I haven't been able to respond to any of your messages for the past few weeks if you have left me any. My dad finally got new wifi for our house since it was acting up but my e-mail still isn't connected. Hopefully within the next few days I'll figure it out and finally get back to you. I just wanted to make sure you didn't think I was ignoring you or anything!
Anywho, on with the story.
"Fenton?" Helen gasped as her daughter rushed past her to the fallen boy's side. She turned to her husband who had a perplexed expression etched on his face. He was just as confused about this entire situation as she was.
How on Earth was Daniel Fenton, the son of the two most famous (although not the most competent) ghost hunters in the entire town of Amity Park the Ghost Boy? They were the ones to give the Incredibles the tools they needed in order to hunt the ghost boy. They gave them weapons to use against their own son. Did they know? Was that the threat used against him by Mr. Masters? He must have found out somehow and had been using the poor boy as a tool to his own personal gain.
Helen quickly shook her head. Just moments ago she had been trying to destroy the ghost boy and now she was fretting over him as if he were one of her own children.
"Danny?" Violet asked, helping the dazed boy into a sitting position with the help of her brother.
"Ugh." He groaned, lifting a now bare hand to his forehead, rubbing his temples as his vision slowly came back into focus. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open and his back straightened instantly. Slowly, frightened of what he would find, Danny looked down at himself and cringed when he saw his human form. "Oh shhhhhiiiiny diamonds in the sky." He cursed to himself, quickly catching himself in the midst of his exclamation when seeing Dash standing next to him, ears wide open for a new vocabulary.
Helen crept forward, a hand outstretched in order to lift the boy up to a standing position when he panicked.
His head snapped up, as the boy stumbled to his feet, plastering himself to the wall and scanning the room for any exits, eyeing the door as if it were the golden brick road itself. His breath quickened with panic as Helen drew herself closer to the boy, ignoring her husband's hand as he tried to grab hers and keep her from getting too close.
Danny stumbled back, only to run further into the wall, clawing at it in hopes that his powers would suddenly come back to him within the next few seconds and allow him to escape. Violet stepped in front of her friend protectively.
"Mom he's not evil, I promise." She explained, waving in front of her mother to keep her from reaching the frightened boy, almost the exact opposite attitude as he had had before changing forms.
"How is this even possible?" Bob asked.
Violet turned to face Danny, either asking permission to tell her parents or demanding that the boy did it himself, Helen didn't know. Danny shook his head, biting his lip and looking up towards the Pars, a certain nervousness in his eyes. Not only did the young boy look frightened, he looked terrified, like he was afraid for his life… or afterlife, Helen really had no clue what the terms for this situation really were.
"What are you?" She finally asked, putting the question stuck in everyone's mind into context. Danny looked up. "Are you a ghost or a human?" She clarified.
The boy shifted uncomfortably before finally answering. "I'm half ghost and half human, but I am not evil." He spurted quickly, making sure to emphasize the last part.
"So you're half… dead?" Bob cut in awkwardly, looking skeptically at his wife.
"Basically yeah. I was electrocuted in my parents' lab when they first invented the Ghost Portal and the ectoplasm in the portal during electrocution fused with my DNA." He explained, looking up once again only to meet blank stares and open mouths (besides that of Violet who had seemed to already know as much about the boy.)
"But your parents, they're-"
"Ghost hunters, and they don't know!" Danny cut in, his blue eyes flying open. "And they can't know, you can't tell them, please."
"Guys, he's not the bad guy here, I've known him for a while now and I trust Danny." Violet said, placing a hand on the teen's shoulder, making the boy smile a bit in comfort before looking back up to the two adults in concern, worried that they might run to the Fenton house that very moment and tell his secret.
"Okay, I'm grasping that fact, I don't think you're evil as much as I had." Helen began, watching as the half-ghost boy looked at her in shock, as if he had thought she would actually turn him in right away. "But I don't understand why the Mayor would say you were. You mentioned earlier that he was evil and that he had something against you, is this it?" She asked.
Danny shuffled again before nodding. "Yeah, it is. It's like a trade off, if I don't tell, then he doesn't tell." He explained.
"… Don't tell what?" Danny turned around, surprised by the fact that Violet had been the one to ask the question. He shot up an inquisitive black eyebrow, not quite understanding the question. "What can't you tell about Mayor Masters to keep him from telling your secret?" She clarified.
The hybrid's eyes widened once again. "Oh, uh… I don't think I can…"
"Of course you can, we already know, we can protect you Danny." Helen said, reaching forward and putting a hand on his shoulder, making the boy flinch in surprise before giving her a smile.
"You mean you aren't going to try and destroy me anymore?" He asked hopefully.
"Of course not." She exclaimed, elbowing her husband slightly in the ribcage when he shot her a surprised look, always being the more cautious one since the whole Syndrome extravaganza. "But we do need to know what's going on. Danny is he threatening you?"
She gasped a sigh of exasperation the moment she saw the boy's arm reach up to scratch the back of his neck. Being a mother, she was able to tell quite easily when a child was hiding something. Sure she had felt guilty having been trying to destroy the ghost boy, having dies so early in life, but that was when she had thought he was a real ghost.
After how the Fenton's had gone on( and on and on…) about just how corrupt and evil this phantom was though had allowed her to survive through that guilt. However, now that she knew he had not only held such a large secret from his own family, but been threatened by the mayor who had somehow found out, she didn't know if she could even make it up to him.
"Listen, If we're going to help you, you need to tell us what's happening. You can tell us." She said as softly as possible so as not to push him.
Danny seemed to consider this for a moment before freezing entirely, his line of sight aimed somewhere over her shoulder. Confused, Helen turned around and instantly gritted her teeth, a sour feeling filled her stomach as the man who she had trusted with her family's lives just moments ago appeared in the doorway.
Mayor Masters was leaning against the beam, a grimace which had somehow curled itself irregularly into a smile lined his thin lips. "Ah, Daniel, I didn't know you were coming. What a pleasant surprise." He said through clenched teeth.
To Helen's astonishment, Danny smiled. "Hello 'uncle Vlad.'" He said, almost playfully.
"Would you please step into the hallway with me? I'd love to catch up with you." Vlad asked, his somewhat controlled demeanor faltering the slightest bit.
Danny's smile disappeared immediately. "Um…"
"Come, it will only take a moment my dear boy." The mayor said, wrapping an arm around the fourteen year-old and pulling him in, making Danny grimace uncomfortably. Helen saw her daughter shoot Danny a worried glance.
"Um, okay." He readily complied, nodding in Violet's direction, letting her know that he would be alright. Finally, with one last glare at the Mayor, Danny trudged towards Vlad into the hallway where he was led away into another corridor.
As soon as the two were out of sight Violet made a motion to follow. "Vi, what are you doing?" Helen asked, grabbing her daughter by the arm and turning her around. "We still have a lot to talk about young lady.
Violet yanked her arm away. "I'm sure you guys have a lot of questions for me, but right now I need to make sure Danny is okay." She responded before turning back towards the doorway again and turning invisible.
…
"Where are we even going Vlad?" Danny asked furiously.
Vlad stopped in his tracks, making the teenager almost run into him. "Just out of hearing range. Seeing as though you have a hard time keeping your mouth shut."
Danny was astounded. "Excuse me? You're the one that sent those vulture goons on me!" He practically shouted.
"That's right, I did. And do you know why I did that Daniel?" The mayor asked, wheeling around and facing the boy. When he got no answer he grabbed him by the wrist to make sure he looked him straight in the eyes. "I revealed your secret to those buffoons because you were this close to revealing mine!" He shouted angrily, making a pinching motion with his fingers.
"Almost!? You mean to say that you electrocuted me into my human half in front of one of the most famous super hero families because I almost revealed what you were?" Danny shouted. "You broke our deal Vlad! Give me one good reason why I shouldn't march straight back there and tall them your secret." He countered, yanking his hand back and staring the man straight in the eyes with the most menacing glare he could muster.
"What would your parents do?" Danny froze, barely hearing the calm and placid voice among his anger.
"W-what?" He stuttered.
Vlad smiled and Danny knew he was in trouble. "Well if you reveal who I am to the famous Incredibles and how I use my powers for 'evil' the word is bound to get out. We will no longer be dealing with just one measly family of freaks, but possibly all of Amity Park or beyond. Therefore, due to our agreement I would be obligated to reveal just what you are to everyone as well, including your parents. How do you think they'd react to having the Ghost Boy as their son." Vlad finished, turning to leave.
"B-but that's not fair!" Danny started, grabbing the man's shoulder and trying to pull him back. Vlad grasped the boy's hand and gave off an ecto blast. "Gah!" Danny pulled back, tripping over his own feet and falling unceremoniously onto the floor clutching his hand.
"I suggest you leave now Daniel, you are not welcome here and I don't appreciate you turning my house guests against me Daniel. Now if you want to keep your secret from getting out again I would leave now."
"The whole reason they're here is to destroy me though isn't it?" Danny asked.
"There are other hunters out there, as soon as I come up with an alibi I'll hire someone a little less easy to manipulate. Good day Daniel and goodbye."
"Vlad! I'm not leaving until-"
"Actually, you are." Vlad interrupted just as two very familiar pairs of glowing green talons wrapped around Danny's arms. "And I don't want to see you in my house again unless you want that little secret of yours reaching someone a little more personal to you." The Mayor finished. With a final snap of his fingers, the vultures took off through the roof with the struggling boy in tow.
