Going through the last four chapters, I noticed that I wasn't really nice to Logan…So, I thought that I should be nice to Logan. And I added that new character that I said would be in the last chapter, but wasn't. Tell me what you think. :)

Chapter twelve:

Logan wasn't sure why he felt the need to get home as soon as possible, the next day. But whatever gave him the feeling, he was grateful for. Because when he walked in to his house with James behind him, he heard the sound that meant that he had a voice mail on his house phone. When he pressed play on the machine, he felt his knees buckle. The next thing he knew, he was falling backwards into James' arms.

"Mr. Mitchell?" A male's voice hesitantly said. "This is Dr. Joanne Mitchell's doctor, and I just wanted to say that there was a mix up with what you were told about your mother…" He trailed off for a second, and before continuing, he left out a sigh. "I wish I could tell you this in person, but… your mother's fine. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she woke up within the next week."

Logan couldn't believe what he was being told, but he didn't wanna think about the fact that he almost lost the one person that had always been with him. So, instead of thinking, he turned around in James' arms and wrapped his arms around James' neck.

They stood like that for what seemed like eternity, Logan standing on his tip toes, trying to reach James, and James with his arms wrapped securely around Logan's waist. Neither of them complained, though; because they didn't mind the feeling of the other as close as possible.

"We're supposed to be in school today, James." Logan whispered in James' ear.

Laughing because Logan was being himself, even when something really big was happening, James said, "Would you rather be in school, or go see your mom at the hospital?" Even though James knew the answer, he asked to make sure that his assumption was correct.

"Do you think they'd let me see her? Even when she's still asleep?" Logan asked, hopeful.

He wanted to see his mother, but would they honestly let him go in her room? He hoped so, but he wanted to see if James thought they would. So much for being the smart one… Logan thought.

"I don't see why not. She's just sleeping…"

"I guess that's true." Logan said. "You think we should tell Kendall and Carlos?"

"We can tell them after school. Right now, let's just go and see your mother." James smiled and took Logan's hand.

Making their way to the front door, Logan moved his hand a little to intertwine his hand with James.

Logan didn't understand why they acted like they were dating, because neither of them had said anything that made it seem like they were. Sure, Logan had realized that he was gay…but it wasn't that he or James had asked the other anything about dating. But Logan had to admit that he was enjoying the carefree feeling that he always got when he was close to James. And, if James asked him, he would definitely agree to date the pretty boy.

He knew that James wasn't ready to label them, considering James wasn't ready to come out of the closet to everyone. And James hadn't talked to Kendall about the other day, and Kendall hasn't asked. So, Logan wasn't sure what Kendall thought about James and him. But it wasn't like Kendall was going around talking shit about them; or hated them, because he was still hanging out with the two of them.

Logan didn't think too much about it, though, because they had gotten into the car, and started to drive towards the hospital just like yesterday. And Logan was anxious about seeing his mother; especially in the condition that she was in. he wasn't sure what she would look like, now that she had been in a wreck. But that wasn't stopping him from seeing his mother, because he didn't care what she looked like. She was his mother, and all that mattered was that she was alive.

XxX

Walking into the room that his mother was in, Logan wasn't sure what he was expecting to see. But when he got in there, he noticed that she had a couple big cuts on her; there was one on her forehead, one on her right arm, and one on her left leg. Her left arm was in a cast, and so was her left leg; probably the side that the other car had hit.

Logan completely forgot about James being in the room, as he made his way to the hospital bed. And when he reached the bed, he sat down in the chair that was conveniently sitting right next to the bed. When he was somewhat comfortable in the chair, he grabbed his mother's hand and brought it up to his lips, giving it a soft kiss.

James felt somewhat out of place, being in the room with Logan and his mother who had just been in a car crash; but he didn't want to leave Logan alone at the hospital.

When James' phone randomly blasted out James' ring tone, Logan jumped; which caused James to chuckle while grabbing for his cell phone in his back pocket. When the phone was in his hands, James noticed that Kendall had texted him, wondering where James and Logan were. Sending a quick text back, telling Kendall where they were and why, James turned his phone onto vibrate and stuffed it back into his pocket.

Logan wasn't sure what he was supposed to do in this position, waiting for his mother to wake up, but he didn't want to go on with his life, knowing that his mother was in the hospital. But he figured that James was probably bored just standing by the door, awkwardly, trying not to disturb the little scene that was in front of him. So, Logan, being the adorably sweet person that he is, told James that if he wanted to do something else he could. James declined the suggestion, not wanting to strand Logan at the hospital alone without anyone to talk to.

Logan motioned for the other chair in the room, telling James to sit down and not stand the whole time; which James reluctantly did. It wasn't that James didn't want to be here, it's just James was a little wary about hospitals; kind of like how he can't stand the sight of blood, he gets a little lightheaded by the smell and color of hospitals. And it didn't help that they had taken an elevator up to Logan's mother's room, which made him even more lightheaded. But he wasn't going to mention any of that to Logan, because he didn't want Logan to feel bad about it; Logan had enough to worry about, as it is.

XxX

Eventually, Logan and James had made their way down to James' car; James – finally – making up an excuse, saying he was hungry, to get out of there. Logan was a little unsure of leaving his mother, but he couldn't deny that he hungry. So, he agreed. When they reached the car and got in, James checked his phone again. He had gotten a couple texts from Kendall and one from Carlos. They were all wondering what was going on and why they weren't replying. Quickly replying that they were just leaving the hospital, James started the car and pulled out of the parking lot.

They both agreed on having pizza from their favorite place, and drove there in silence. Neither of them really knew what they were supposed to say, but they didn't mind the silence.

When they reached the pizza place, they noticed a familiar person sitting in one of the booths. The guy was sitting all by himself. And what caught Logan's eye about the guy, was that he was staring right back at him. Logan didn't mean to blush at the staring, but he couldn't help it; the blush came anyways.

James didn't notice the guy or that Logan had started blushing, and walked into the building and headed towards the counter, thinking that Logan was following behind him. But Logan wasn't. Well, he came inside, but he didn't go up to the counter. Mostly because he didn't have the chance to follow James; he was getting stopped by the person that was staring at him.

"You go to the high school here, right?" Dak Zevon asked Logan.

"Uh, yeah…" Logan wasn't sure what to think. Or do, really. Because he had to admit, he wanted to learn what Dak had gone through. But he didn't think talking to Dak was the best idea, at the moment.

"I'm Dak!" Dak said, thrusting his hand out for Logan to shake.

Reluctantly, Logan shook Dak's hand. Logan replied with, "Yeah, I know who you are… I'm Logan."

"Ah, so you're the new friend of Kendall's?"

"How do you -" Logan began, but was cut off by Dak.

"I've heard a lot about things. I know people that go to the school you go to."

"Oh." Logan didn't know what to say to that.

Dak smiled, "You know, you need to be careful with Kendall. You never know when he's gonna turn on you."

"Kendall's been a good friend to me." Logan said. "And I have nothing to worry about."

"Well, you may think that, but sometimes you never know."

"Just because Kendall wasn't a good friend at the time of you coming out of the closet, doesn't mean he's gonna do the same thing to me." Logan said, getting a little defensive. He knew that Dak wasn't going to like that Kendall was being nice to him, when Kendall wasn't nice to Dak; but at this point, Logan didn't care.

"Do you honestly think Kendall's being nice to you because he wants to?" Dak asked rhetorically. "Kendall is the type of person that doesn't change. He may be nice now, but once he learns something about you that's personal, he'll turn on you, Logan. I don't want the same to happen to anyone else, like what happened to me."

"Dak, if you know people at my school… Why don't you know that Kendall's my friend, even when everyone else has been a complete asshole to me about me being gay?" Logan honestly didn't want to have to say that, because Dak didn't seem to know; but Dak was being rude. And Logan was starting to get pissed off that Dak was saying these things about his friend.

"He-he is?" That shocked Dak. He didn't think that Kendall was capable of being friends with anyone gay. And yet, here he was, learning that Kendall had befriended someone that liked the same sex. It wasn't fair, Dak quickly decided.

"Yeah, Dak." Logan said, noticing for the first time that James had walked up next to him with a pizza in his hands. "So, you need to stop being a jerk. Kendall may not have been completely fair to you, by being my friend and not yours, but that doesn't mean you have to turn me against him."

"I wasn't trying to do that… I just wanted you to keep your eyes opened."

"Well, there's no need." James said, realizing that Dak was still a little bitter from what happened with him and Kendall.

"I'm sorry." Dak mumbled, walking away from them. He couldn't believe that Kendall had been so mean to him, but was befriending someone that had came out to him. It wasn't fair.

XxX

On their way to Logan's house, James received a text from Kendall saying that they were headed over to James' house; which Logan had texted for James, telling them that they were at Logan's house. And when they reached Logan's house, Kendall and Carlos were already standing on the porch.

"Didn't you tell me that you were already here?" Kendall asked, as soon as James and Logan walked up to them.

"Well, I didn't think that you were closer than us; I thought that we would get here before you." James said, as Logan unlocked his front door.

When the door was opened, Logan allowed everyone else to walk in, before he walked into the house himself.

"You know, that's not a lot of pizza…" Carlos pointed out.

"I'm sure you could find something in the freezer for you to eat, Carlos." Logan said a knowing smile on his face.

At those words, Carlo ran into the kitchen and towards the refrigerator. He was quickly okay with not having pizza, because in the freezer was a package of corndogs; which he instantly started cooking.

"You know, it amazes me how much he loves corndogs." Logan said, grabbing the pizza box from James and taking it over to set on the table.

"You have no idea, Logan." James said, walking over to stand next to Logan.

XxX

Once they had finished eating their pizza and/or corndogs, James thought that it would be a good idea to bring up that Logan and he ran into Dak at the pizza place. And even though James wasn't sure how Kendall would react, telling your friend that their ex-best friend is trying to turn one of your other best friends against them is the right thing to do. So, once he was finished helping Logan with the few dishes that were dirty, he mumbled, "We saw Dak today."

"Yeah? How was he?" Kendall asked. Even though he knew that he was a jerk, he still considered Dak somewhat of a friend. A friend that didn't talk to him, at least; but still a friend, nonetheless.

"Uh, I don't know…I guess alright." James said. "But he was trying to turn Logan against you, because he's still pissed at you for not saying anything when he was getting picked on. And I don't think that you being nice to Logan made anything any better."

"He knows?"

"Well, yeah." James said, looking at Logan. "I'm not sure what all he said, Logan talked to him. But I figured that you would like to know that he's trying to put ideas inside Logan's head."

"Yeah, thanks James." Kendall smiled, even though he wasn't feeling all that great with the new information that he learned. "What did he tell you Logan?" Kendall turned his attention towards Logan, who was trying to busy himself with his cell phone.

"Oh! Uh, he got mad that you were being nice to me…" Logan said, looking away from his phone for the first time since the beginning of this conversation. "He said that he was friends with someone that went to our school. So, he knew that we were friends."

"Is that all?" Kendall wanted to make sure that they weren't hiding something from him, because they both seemed a little off about the whole situation.

"Yeah." Logan said.

"But you should have seen Logan!" James smiled at Logan, before turning to face Kendall. "He was all, 'You need to stop being a jerk!'" James tried imitating Logan's voice, but it turned out a little girly and not anything like James' voice.

"I do not sound like that, James!" Logan said, glaring at James.

"Oh, yeah, you do!" James said, glaring right back.

"James, I don't sound like a girl!" Logan defended, pushing James on the shoulder.

James feigned hurt and grabbed at his shoulder. "That hurt!"

"Oh, it so didn't hurt!" Logan scoffed at James' goofiness.

"Like you would know, Logie!" And James' voice was practically dripping with huskiness.

"What?" Logan asked.

The two others that were in the room were completely forgotten by the two that were arguing. Carlos thought that they were absolutely adorable, because honestly, who wouldn't want a relationship with someone that Logan and James had? But Kendall was a little jealous, because he couldn't be that way with anyone, and he hasn't been with anyone that he could be even close to that since Jo; which was almost a year ago.

Kendall had started dating Jo in freshman year, and he was in love with her. He had thought that she was in love with him too, until he walked in on her and some other guy. Jo had said that it was a dare, but there was absolutely no one around to be playing truth or dare with. And the next day, after Kendall had ended their relationship, he had witnessed the two of them making out on school grounds. And the worst part about the whole situation wasn't that Jo was his girlfriend, it was that the guy had been one of his friends.

Kendall, being the popular guy that he was, had been friends with Brian; and Kendall thought that they were close. That was until Kendall had walked in on him and Jo. And maybe it was fate telling him that being friends with Brian was bad or dating Jo was a terrible idea. Or. If it was just time to move on from anything that Kendall used to call his life. But Kendall quickly realized after that, that he had been okay with people that were interested in the same sex. If only he had figured that out weeks before, Kendall thought to himself at the time.

And hearing that Dak had been trying to turn Logan against him because Logan was also gay, made Kendall realize that maybe he needed to talk to Dak about everything that's gone on between the two of them. And. Maybe tell Dak the truth that had came into realization once Kendall found out that his girlfriend was fucking one of his closest friends. He doubted that Dak would listen to him, though, because Dak was still pissed off at Kendall. Kendall had to try, at least; just so he could say that he didn't give up before he even tried.

And Kendall was brought back to the real world, when he heard his phone start to ring. When he grabbed it out of his pocket, he read that it was his mother, probably wondering where he was.

"Hello?" Kendall said, answering his phone.

"Kendall? Where are you?" His mother's worried tone made him realize that he hadn't called that day after school to tell her where he was going to be.

"Sorry for not calling, mom. I'm at Logan's house." Kendall said.

"Logan? You mean that kid that James had started hanging out with?"

"Uh, yeah?" Kendall said. "His mother is in the hospital, so we all thought that we'd spend time with him tonight."

"Okay." His mother sighed, "Just be careful alright."

"We will, mom."

"Call me if you guys need anything, alright?"

"We will."

A/N: Most of it was being nice to Logan…And I think it has been a while since Logan
